Hello, thanks for the additional information. As others have pointed out in this bug report the real culprit is java-atk-wrapper (#858700). You can currently work around this issue by commenting #assistive_technologies=org.GNOME.Accessibility.AtkWrapper in /etc/java-8-openjdk/accessibility.properties I intend to ask the OpenJDK maintainer to make this the default if the situation does not improve before the next Debian release.
