iirc, it should be generated in the clean target as well: DEB_MAINTAINER_MODE=yes dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -Tclean note, that you will only get a copyright_newhints file if it differs from the copyright_hints file. and if it does generate the file, it will stop the build anyhow, so you cannot "generate copyright_newhints file WITH building the whole package". gfsamdr IOhannes
