There are many ways to get there ;-) But if you are going to package Ruby apps, I advise you to join the pkg-ruby-extras group [1] - That will make things easier for you and for us. Regarding a HOWTO - There is a preferred way for dealing with _most_ Ruby modules out there, and that's what we do on the group. It is CDBS-centric (if CDBS means nothing to you, don't panic - just add it to the list of things to basically understand. Myself, I am a newcomer to CDBS as well and avoid it for my non-Ruby Debian work). The information on the group's page is structured quite close to a HOWTO. Of course, basic familiarity with building Debian packages is expected.
