Hi Lena, Are you looking for a disarmed A. rhizogenes strain, or are you looking for a wildtype strain that will generate hairy roots (and is still pathogenic and can cause disease)?
I am not sure what permit restrictions Vladimir is referring to, but as far as I know, disarmed (nonpathogenic) Agrobacterium strains do not have APHIS restrictions in their use or shipment (--although a movement notification used to be required to ship a strain from one state to another within the US, that is no longer required for nonpathogenic disarmed strains). Hello Lena, The easiest way to get R rhizogenes would be from ATCC.org (in the state of Virginia). However, I hope you have a permit to use it. The APHIS has recently changed regulations in respect to this species and you have to receive permit to be able to use it. I am in the process of getting the permit now. Hope this helps. [External Email] Hello, PlantGENE forum, I was wondering if anyone can point me toward sources for Rhizobium rhizogenes (Agrobacterium rhizogenes) for plant transformation? My location is at Cornell University in New York, USA, so an American source may be easiest.
