Package: python-qt4
Severity: wishlist

QtMultimedia module is not installed by python-qt4, presumably because
previously the module has been moved a lot around by Qt development.
According to the following link, the module has been moved from Qt to
QtMobility, then renamed QtMultimediaKit.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-qt4/+bug/590140

Unfortunally, I can't give much more information, I've written a PyQt4
based program that partly uses QtMultimedia, and today I received a report
about this.

Thanks

This is not a bug we will be able to address in Debian. Currently Debian is
in pre-release freeze for Debian 9, Codename Stretch. Adding additional
functionality at this stage of the release process is not permitted.

In the next version of Debian, Buster, the Qt maintainers intend to remove Qt4
entirely (and thus PyQt4 will be removed) due to general obsolescence and lack
of upstream security support. Rather than adding to PyQt4 in buster, we will
be removing it.

I would strong recommend porting your program to PyQt5. That's what's
supported by both Qt and PyQt upstream developers and where our focus will be
for Buster.
