On the following cfg: Intel macmini 2018
macos 14.3.1 R 4.1.2 XQuartz 2.8.5 RStudio 2023.03.0+386 Running the example from the "abline" command in R (cmd line) and RStudio, I get the same results that María-Ángeles and Michael G. described (i.e., no plots via R and plots via RStudiio).
