But is it the good way to do? Is it not better to have an uniform method for installing things? I can make an spkg which makes only "sage -pip install clawpack" (+ what is necessary to do to build an spkg). An advantage would be to have better compatiblity: PyClaw uses matplotblib, an there may be compartibility problems...
