Hi Carl, I just added your scanner to SANE. It will available from the daily git snapshots tomorrow. Or from my Ubuntu PPA (https://launchpad.net/~rolfbensch/+archive/ubuntu/sane-git), also tomorrow.
First you should test the USB connection before you maybe want to switch to ethernet/wifi. Hope this helps.
