honestly, i dont think we have a resident expert on the gt68xx anymore, but looking at your log and the code, it appears that the backend was waiting for sane_cancel() to be called between pages to cleanup the reader process, but this does not happen in batch mode, so the backend chokes. i guess the question becomes, why do you want to scan in batch mode from a flatbed?
