This is reported on the Sane database as unsupported. I have previously been unable to use it except under Windows which is a nuisance. Using SuSE 11.0, when I connected via USB I was asked if I wished to configure the scanner which was correctly recognised as a Minolta Dimage Elite 5400 film scanner. I then selected the Avision back end driver and appear to have full functionality with Vuescan.
