Hello,
the reported version :
SANE GT68xx backend version 1.0 build 84 from sane-backends 1.0.20
seems quite old to me. You might try SANE 1.0.21.
You may also look into overriding flags to avoid power check: ie set
the
GT68XX_FLAG_NO_POWER_STATUS flag.
