Hi Patrick, I cannot see any differences between the two 1200dpi scans. Please create some debug output of a 1200dpi tiff scan and of a pnm scan.
You can enable debug output on the command line with 'export SANE_DEBUG_PIXMA=11'. To reduce debug output size, please scan a small area of 2mm x 2mm.
