A significant amount of work will also be performed through services (mostly internally hosted applications) provided through middleware. This position will be the support lead over middleware systems. While we do want senior level java skills, the amount of coding could be minimal. The need for java skills is around code reviews, quality and standards, of code developed by the support team. On occasion there may be assistance in design and debugging of more significant support issues. There will be a need to assist in the approval process for code changes as well as support in code deployment and promotions. Here is where experience in Ant and Jython would be beneficial. The system does require 24x7 support. There will be a support matrix in place and the support team will be in the U.S. as well as an offshore team (TBD but most likely India). This position is not planned to be part of the normal on call schedule. However, there may be times where business critical issues are escalated to this lead role and will require after hours support. There will also be a need for good communication skills as meetings and presentations to audiences that are both business and IT focused will be expected. The middleware environment is based on WebSphere Process Server. Overall the environment is IBM centric, DB2, Rational tools including ClearCase & ClearQuest. Some background with SAP would be beneficial but not a requirement. The department also supports systems based on WebSphere Application Server.
