The AGSchedule DNS glitch has been fixed. My apologies for any inconvenience.
In the future NCSA and the University of Illinois will retire the uiuc.edu
domain. For now either of the following will work:

http://agschedule.ncsa.illinois.edu

http://agschedule.ncsa.uiuc.edu

Please update bookmarks and other links to the illinois.edu domain.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

[AG-TECH] AGSchedule site time zone setting

2007-11-01 Thread Michael Miller
Hello,

For those in the US, please make sure your site has the correct time
zone setting. For example, NCSA is in the Central Time Zone. The
time zone selection list has Central and Central2007. The
Central2007 uses the new rules for Daylight Saving Time in the
US. There are similar options for Eastern, Mountain and Pacific.

Please make sure your site has the proper time zone selected as this
is the time zone used by all users when they are logged in.

If you have further questions, please let me know.

site by hovering over the name of your site in the light gray bar at
the top of the AGSchedule interface. Then add a ?siteid=X to the

by AGSchedule. The effect will be similar to when the changeover for
Daylight Saving Time occurs.

Part of the change will require that all US AGSchedule sites change the
timezone setting for their sites. Node operators can do this by
clicking the Edit My Site link and then clicking the Edit Site Info
button. The Timezone selection list includes options for Eastern,
Central, Mountain and Pacific towards the bottom of the list. US sites
should select from one of these 4 options at the end of the list. If
you are in Arizona or Indiana and do not know which timezone to choose,
please contact me.

This will ensure that when users registered with US sites login, their
browser uses the appropriate timezone settings.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

[AG-TECH] AGSchedule Venue Selection

2006-06-07 Thread Michael Miller
A fix for the Venue selection problem in AGSchedule has been tested and
put in place. But of course, the real world may introduce unforeseen
problems. Please let us know if you see any strange behavior. Also,
please double-check that the venue you are assigned makes sense for your
meeting.

If you have scheduled meetings since May 15 2006, please check the
meeting details page to be sure you have an appropriate venue. If not,
the Change Venue page has been updated and you should be able to change
the venue.

The problem was caused by introduction of additional criteria in various
queries to handle serving AG3 venues and venues owned by sites other
than NCSA.

If you need assistance getting a correct venue assignment, please send
email to the AGSchedule Administrator: agsched...@ncsa.uiuc.edu.

[AG-TECH] AGSchedule and DST changes

2006-01-12 Thread Michael Miller
Due to the change in US law regarding Daylight Saving Time, I have
implemented functionality for AGSchedule to handle these changes.
During this process it was necessary to change the time on some
meetings. Specifically, those meetings held from March 9, 2007 to April
1, 2007 that were created by sites residing in the US. If you created a
meeting or series of meetings that falls between those dates, please
double check that the times are correct for your meetings. If you find
a problem, please send me the URL for the meeting.

Also, in the future, if your government changes the Daylight Saving Time

The switch back to the upgraded server will only affect the AGSchedule
website. It will be down for a few minutes while I copy the database. The
NCSA AG2 Venues Server will NOT be affected. There are no plans to change
anything with the NCSA AG2 Venues Server.

Your meeting will not be interrupted, but it would be a good idea for all
sites involved to download files from AGSchedule, if necessary, at the
beginning of the meeting. Then everyone will have the files they need to
participate in the meeting.

I do not anticipate any lengthy outage and if anything goes wrong, I will
simply leave the current(temporary) website in place until any problems are
solved.

RE: [AG-TECH] AGSchedule DNS

2005-01-25 Thread John Hofmann
Our referring dns has not yet updated. My additional problem was with
Windows XP. Everytime I put in the IP address, it changed to the name
in the address bar, so I couldn't get to the site. I got around this by
using /setup.asp after the ip address.
Apparently WinXP remembered the old setup and immediately changed the
number to a name (which has not yet updated in my area).
