Re: NTUSER.DAT/LOG getting failed during backup!

2004-01-21 Thread Andrew Raibeck
I can see from the dsmsched.log extracts that the backup on 1/15 ran OK,
but the one on 1/16 did not. However, it is not possible to identify the
problem since (a) you did not provide complete dsmsched.log info, and (b)
the dsmerror.log data you provided are for the wrong dates. You need to
examine dsmsched.log and dsmerror.log for 16 January 2004 and look for any
error messages that might trigger the RC 12 (something other than
ANS4987E, ANS1228E, and ANS1802E).

Andy and Others,

TSM server 5.1.7.0 on AIX.
TSM client 5.2.0.1 W2k.

I'm really finding a strange behavior on scheduled status one of the TSM

failed

Here I have pasted the contents of log files for your reference.

Re: NTUSER.DAT/LOG getting failed during backup!

2004-01-20 Thread Svetoslav Tolev
The error Message is correct. The problem is that the file USER.DAT is
part of Registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER). when you start the client via user
(not as a service) then you will recive this message. I think that the
best is to put this file (and some others from the registry, paging space
and etc.) in exclude file/dir cluse. You must not be affraid that
this will cause the lost of information because this files are backuped by
Backup System Object procedures.

Re: NTUSER.DAT/LOG getting failed during backup!

ANE4987E has been treated as RC 4 since the consistent return codes
feature was introduced in version 5.1. Check the client dsmsched.log and
dsmerror.log files for other error messages that might be contributing to
the RC 12.

Note that message ANS1448E was being issued at one time in the TSM 5.1.5.x
clients and causing RC 12. This has been corrected in 5.1.6 and up via
APAR IC35763. You say the problem occurs in 5.2, so perhaps this isn't
it... Again, check the logs I mentioned above to see if some other error
message is causing RC 12.

2004-01-20 Thread Andrew Raibeck
The message may be correct, but I am more concerned about the RC 12. There
is some other problem going on besides ANE4987E, because ANE4987E by
itself should not cause RC 12.

Hi,

These files belong to the user profile of the SAPServiceBS user that is
a Windows user account used by a service currently running on your
nodes. I don't think that it is necessary to backup these files (at
least I usually exclude them). However you might try to use the Open
File Support, I haven't tried it so far.

Re: NTUSER.DAT/LOG getting failed during backup!

2004-01-19 Thread Andrew Raibeck

Andy
