[sr #110972] m...@lix.polytechnique.fr and m...@cnrs.fr not working

2023-12-07 Thread anonyme
Follow-up Comment #5, sr #110972 (project administration):

=> Please let us know if the username you were trying to register contained
UTF-8 characters or not so that we would know if this was the cause of the
problem or not.

I tried to create lizabelos with a CNRS (didn't worked) and a GMail account
(worked). I tried to create lizab with a lix account (didn't worked). Another
person of my lab tried the same.

Hi, I'm trying to create an account on Savannah to report a bug in a project.
I don't receive the confirmation email. Even if I ask for it to be sent again
when trying to login.

Account name is "pablorackham".
Email is "r at uzy dot me".

Would it be possible to make sure the confirmation link is sent to my email
address?

Hello,
yesterday I tried to create a new user on Savannah with two e-mail addresses
hosted on two different domains (free.fr, tuxfamily.org), but I didn't receive
any e-mail to activate my account.
Asking for a new confirmation e-mail didn't work either.
Could you please solve this problem?
Thank you.

I use screen in a docker container on Home Assistant OS on a x86 machine.

```
# uname -a
Linux core-ssh 6.1.25 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Tue Apr 25 11:50:31 UTC 2023
x86_64 Linux
# screen -v
Screen version 4.09.00 (GNU) 30-Jan-22
# cat /etc/os-release
NAME="Alpine Linux"
ID=alpine
VERSION_ID=3.17.3
PRETTY_NAME="Alpine Linux v3.17"
HOME_URL="https://alpinelinux.org/;
BUG_REPORT_URL="https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/issues;
```

Just running `screen -v` is very slow as well.

Very slow means tens of seconds or minutes - prior to the latest update of the
docker container, this took about 1 second max.

```
strace -f -o screen.log screen -v
```

The screen.log shows many lines similar to the following:

```
22942 poll([{fd=3, events=0}, {fd=4, events=0}, {fd=5, events=0}, {fd=6,
events=0}, {fd=7, events=0}, {fd=8, events=0}, {fd=9, events=0}, {fd=10,
Hi,
Yesterday I created an account using [1] and I never received the mail of
confirmation. The account name is mato_hota and the associated email is
xavier.gr...@protonmail.com. I have checked my spam directory multiple time.
Is there an additional action I need to do in order to valid my account ?
Thanks in advance, cordially, Xavier
I tried to build autoconf on macOS 12.5.1 on a Macbook pro with M1 chip.
I first installed m4, and after a fix on sysval test, got no error on the make
check command on m4. Here is the result of m4 --version command:
% m4 --version
m4 (GNU M4) 1.4.19
When running make check on autoconf, I got those two tests failing:
509: AC_CHECK_HEADER_STDBOOL
514: AC_HEADER_STDBOOL
Finally, here is the content of the testsuite.log file:
Details:
I've been trying to build a big project and exchanging back and forth with the
community, we have created a minimal Makefile for what we think is a bug and
not an intended feature.
If a binary is named 'cp' and a directory is named 'cp', then the make build
fails with "cp: permission denied", if the directory is renamed, then the
build will go on, I met this issue whilst trying to build gcc from source.
Reproduce the bug with a minimal Makefile:
sudo mkdir /usr/local/bin/asdf
echo -e 'all:\n\tasdf' > Makefile
make
Output:
asdf
make: asdf: Permission denied
make: *** [Makefile:2: all] Error 127
I don't think this should be happening, if it should, this should be
documented and maybe the error message should be more helpful, the current
error leads someone to think there are permissions issues when it is not a
permission issue.
Details:
AC_SEARCH_LIBS in configure searches for libraries in the current system even
when --with-sysroot=/some/chroot/ is specified.
This is blocking cross-compilation of all software using autoconf and calling
AC_SEARCH_LIBS in configure.
Adding --sysroot=/some/chroot/ to CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS when running ./configure
clumsily circumvents the issue, as one would expect.
It comes to mind that quite possibly, AC_SEARCH_LIBS is not the only function
affected.
P.S.: bug discovered attempting to cross-compile libbsd 0.11.3
Details:
I cloned the current make git repository:
https://git.savannah.gnu.org/git/emacs.git
Then I compiled it with GCC 11.1.0. It triggers the following error:
src/main.c:1954:13: error: writes 1 byte in a region of size 0
[-Werror=stringop-overflow=]
2006 |   p[-1] = '\0';
|   ~~^~
It compiles with GCC 8.3.0 though.
This error was introduced in GCC 10
https://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-10/changes.html#c-family as "Enhancements
to existing warnings".
To build it with GCC 11.1.0, one must add the flag: -Wno-stringop-overflow
when doing ./configure.
[bug #60657] with mm macros, refer fills undefined fields with value of previous entries.
2021-05-22 Thread anonyme
URL:
 Summary: with mm macros, refer fills undefined fields with
Submitted on: sam. 22 mai 2021 17:44:34 UTC
Category: Preprocessor refer
Severity: 3 - Normal
  Item Group: Incorrect behaviour
  Status: None
 Open/Closed: Open
 Discussion Lock: Any
 Planned Release: None
___
Details:
If we compile refer -e -p test.ref testref2.mm |groff -mm -Tpdf >
testref_mm.pdf, if a bibligraphic entry has an undefined field
(say %V) the value of the field is replaced with the value of the last entry
where the field was defined instead of being replaced by an empty string.
For instance in the compiled pdf file, entry 14 has the volume number of entry
13 and the same comment. This is because the entry 13 defines
%V 257
%S Rapport - CEA
%O  Pr\*'esidence du Conseil. Commissariat \*`a l'\*'energie atomique. Rapport
C
.E.A. n° 257 Extract from "the Physical review". Vol. 92. N° 5, December
1953
but entry 14 leaves those fields empty. The value of the field %O
is repeated until the entry 17 that redefines %O.
Similarly, entry 18 defines
%O  Soci\*'et\*'e des sciences physiques et naturelles de Bordeaux. S\*'eance
du 4 mars 1897
and that comment gets repeated until entry 22 that redefines %O.
This behavior only appears with -mm macros. With -ms,-me,-mom the
when %O,%V or %S are empty, the previous values don't get printed.
I could not find any documentation indicating that refer is incompatible with
the -mm macros or that refer needs particular options to produce valid output
for troff -mm, so I assume this is a bug.
explanation for MB_MAXBYTES value ?
2020-06-05 Thread Matt Anonyme
hi,
I am trying to hack on vim's codebase but there is something I dont get,
that is the value of MB_MAXBYTES defined at:
https://github.com/vim/vim/blob/c17e66c5c0acd5038f1eb3d7b3049b64bb6ea30b/src/vim.h#L1771
Here is the description:
/// character of up to 6 bytes, or one 16-bit character of up to three bytes
/// plus six following composing characters of three bytes each.
#define MB_MAXBYTES 21
/// Maximum number of bytes in a multi-byte character. It can be one 32-bit
I understand that 3 + 6 * 3 = 21 but I don't get how we can input a
multibyte character of 21 bytes ? In what encoding/way is it possible ?
Cheers
Hi,
In find.texi line 488, it is sayed that regular expression used
in find are compatible with emacs regexp. Yet, I tried to
use `find -type f -regex '.\{3,\}'` to find files whose names
are longer that 2 characters. There are existing, anyway.
Find gave me no answer. I think the default regular expressions
in find are not the same as emacs regexp.
For completness, I use find from debian/sid package.
By the way, I thank you for yours excellent tools.
[Bug 1875147] [NEW] QWERTY keyboard during the installation process even if French keyboard choosen
2020-04-26 Thread Anonyme
Public bug reported:
During the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS installation process (in a VirtualMachine on
switches back to QWERTY on the account creation page. I specify that
when I am on the page of choice of the keyboard type, the keys entered
in the test fields are the right ones.
[Aide] [Question #690184]: Clavier toujours en QWERTY lors de l'installation sur VirtualBox
2020-04-25 Thread Anonyme
New question #690184 on python-pip in Ubuntu:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-pip/+question/690184
Bonjour,
Lorsque j'installe Ubuntu 20.04 LTS sur VirtualBox 6.1.6 et que je sélectionne
le clavier français (variante), il repasse en QWERTY sur la page de création de
compte. Je précise que lorsque je suis sur la page de choix du type de clavier,
les touches entrées dans le champs de test sont les bonnes.
Est-ce un bug ? Si ça en est un, quelqu'un peut le signaler ?
2. what you were trying to do
Find every regular file in the upper level directory with a maxdepth of 1 to
apply on them a call to grep
3. the exact command line that you used
$ find .. -type f -maxdepth 1 -exec grep -Hin rasoir {} \;
4. what you expected to happen
Get my result or at least a meaningful error message, instead of that I got a
very curious error (or rather warning) message saying that I was not using
-maxdepth after -find.
5. precisely what did happen.
Here is the exact message :
$ find .. -type f -maxdepth 1 -exec grep -Hin rasoir {} \;
find: attention : vous avez spécifié l'option -maxdepth après un argument
qui n'est pas une option -type mais les options sont positionnelles (-maxdepth
affecte les tests spécifiés avant aussi bien qu'après). SVP spécifiez les
options avant les autres arguments.
so I used LC_ALL ennvironment variable to get the English message and as a
result I got to understand what was the real meaning of the message
$ LC_ALL=en_US find .. -type f -maxdepth 1 -exec grep -Hin rasoir {} \;
find: warning: you have specified the -maxdepth option after a non-option
argument -type, but options are not positional (-maxdepth affects tests
specified before it as well as those specified after it).  Please specify
options before other arguments.
Which is what I did and got the expected result without any warning just by
exchanging the position of -maxdepth and -type. In order to make the message
more meaningful in French I suggest the use of ',' or '(',')', or even
rewriting the sentence.
[OSM-talk-fr] massifs arbustifs et/ou de fleurs
2019-04-07 Thread Lau Anonyme
Bonjour,
quelqu'un aurait-il une idée de comment tagguer des massifs arbustifs
(contenant ou pas des fleurs en plus) ?
C'est un élément qu'on trouve beaucoup dans les villes et les villages :
- c'est un espace jardiné
- ce n'est pas de l'herbe seule
- ce n'est pas un parterre de fleurs (mais ça peut le devenir selon les
périodes de l'année selon ce qui est planté)
- c'est en général une petite surface
- ce n'est pas une haie au sens "barrière"
- j'ai l'impression que ce n'est pas un jardin au sens de leisure=garden
La description de ce tag indique pourtant qu'il peut aussi bien être à
la fois être utilisé pour le jardin d'une maison, d'un château... que
d'une jardinière.
Or il me semble intéressant de distinguer un jardin d'un massif (mais je
ne parviens pas à décrire sur quoi ils se distingueraient).
Ce qui se rapprocherait le plus serait cette proposition
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/flowerbed
Qu'en pensez-vous ? Merci de votre aide.
 Programmer hardware: xplainedmini_updi
 Device type: attiny416
___
Details:
As described in
http://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/avrdude-dev/2018-01/msg7.html
xplainedmini_updi should skip calling jtag3_edbg_prepare() and
jtag3_edbg_signoff().
There is code to this effect in jtag3_getsync() and jtag3_close().
However both jtag3_getsync() and jtag3_close() directly compare pgm->id to
"xplainedmini_updi", which fails on Ubuntu (and, I suspect, on (m)any x86_64
Linux systems as well) because pgm->id does not actually point to the
programmer's name, and must be accessed through ldata() and lfirst() as it is
in other parts of avrdude.
This lack of ldata() and lfirst() causes jtag3_edbg_prepare() to actually be
called, making avrdude unable to use the attiny xplained nano, which uses the
xplainedmini_updi programmer.
Fix:
In both jtag3_getsync() and jtag3_close(), the line
if (strcmp(pgm->id, "xplainedmini_updi") != 0) {
should be rewritten as
if (strcmp(ldata(lfirst(pgm->id)), "xplainedmini_updi") != 0) {
This fix was tested on Xubuntu 18.04 with trunk.
Bug#845397: Leafpad: mishandling of error cases in the saving function can lead to silent data loss
2016-11-22 Thread Nicolas Anonyme
Package: leafpad
Version: 0.8.18.1-5
X-Debbugs-CC: bladeboy200...@gmail.com
Severity: critical
Some mishandling of error return code in the saving function of
leafpad can lead to data loss.
When a file ($FILE) is saved in leafpad, it calls the functions
file_save_real(file.c:180):
 - The content on the GtkTextBuffer is transformed in a gchar*,
 - Then the file $FILE is opened (file.c:220) in write mode (which
truncate $FILE content)
 - The gchar* is written to $FILE (file.c:226) but not necessary yet flushed
   (on my computer there is an autoflush only if more than 4k of data),
 - Leafpad calls the function gtk_text_buffer_set_modified()
(file.c:232) for the UI layer
 - Then the $FILE is closed (file.c:233) which causes the unflushed
content to be finally written to disk.
 - Sadly the result of that fclose() (file.c:233) is not checked at all.
---
1) first problem, the "truncating side-effect"
The call to gtk_text_buffer_set_modified() (file.c:232) triggers a
"modified-changed" signal.
There is a callback (view.c:354) that links that "modified-changed"
signal to cb_modified_changed.
 -> the function cb_modified_changed(view.c:218) calls (view.c:224)
the function get_file_basename()
  -> the function get_file_basename(file.c:42) calls (file.c:66) the
function check_file_writable()
   -> the function check_file_writable(file.c:31) :
 - calls (file.c:35) the function fopen() on the same $FILE in
APPEND mode to check if it's writable
 - and (file.c:36) that second handle on $FILE is closed
Because in the file_save_real(file.c:180), gtk_text_buffer_set_modified()
is called before the fclose() somehow 2 handles on $FILE exists at the
same time,
the second handle being closed before the first.
On a local filesystem (ext4) it usually behave somehow without errors:
when the file is fclosed any unflushed content is then written on disk.
Here is the strace when trying to save 2 bytes in /tmp/file.txt (an
ext filesystem)
file.c:220:file_save_real()  | open("/tmp/file.txt",
O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = 13
file.c:035:check_file_writable() | open("/tmp/file.txt",
O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_APPEND, 0666) = 14
file.c:036:check_file_writable() | close(14)= 0
file.c:233:file_save_real()  | *write(13, "X!", 2)   = 2* 
file.c:233:file_save_real()  | close(13)= 0
Until here it seems fine,
but that can have a dramatic side-effect when used with gvfs over
sftp, a bug happens!
( see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=680418
and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/leafpad/+bug/708829 )
gfvs+sftp don't like having concurrently 2 file pointers on the same file,
and trying to write data on the oldest, after having closed the
youngest ... fails and the file end up truncated.
After having mounted the sftp://localhost/tmp/file.txt via gvfs, the same strace
file.c:220:file_save_real()  |
open("/run/user/1000/gvfs/sftp:host=localhost,user=me/tmp/file.txt",
O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = 13
file.c:035:check_file_writable() |
open("/run/user/1000/gvfs/sftp:host=localhost,user=me/tmp/file.txt",
O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_APPEND, 0666) = 14
file.c:036:check_file_writable() | close(14)= 0
file.c:233:file_save_real()  | *write(13, "X!", 2)   = -1
EOPNOTSUPP (Operation not supported)  *
file.c:233:file_save_real()  | close(13)= 0
Solution proposed:
As previously proposed in 2012 (and by Max Rockatanski
 in 2016) on bug=680418,
the call to fclose() should be done before the call to
gtk_text_buffer_set_modified().
The data should also probably be fflushed and fsynced just after the
fwrite.
---
2) second problem, the silent (No space left on device)
The result of fclose() (file.c:233) being not checked at all,
if there is not enough space on disk to write data when flushing, the
remaining data is currently silently lost.
For example try creating a ram drive of 4kb:
mkdir -p /tmp/tmpfs4k && mount -o size=4k -t tmpfs none /tmp/tmpfs4k
Then try to write 4097 bytes into /tmp/tmpfs4k/test (with a strace) :
file.c:220:file_save_real()  | open("/tmp/tmpfs4k/test",
O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = 13
file.c:226:file_save_real()  | write(13,
""..., 4096) = 4096
file.c:035:check_file_writable() | open("/tmp/tmpfs4k/test",
O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_APPEND, 0666) = 14
file.c:036:check_file_writable() | close(14)= 0
file.c:233:file_save_real()  | *write(13, "!", 1)= -1
ENOSPC (No space left on device)  *
file.c:233:file_save_real()  | close(13)= 0
Solution proposed:
The return code for fopen should be checked and a feedback should be
provided to the user if an error occur.
(and the same thing should be done if we add a fflush and a fsync)
Bug#680418: Additionnal informations
2016-11-22 Thread Nicolas Anonyme
Hello,
I once again lost a (precious) file to this bug (using leafpad with gvfs
over sftp) .
( gvfs 1.28.2 , leafpad 0.8.17 , debian 8 or ubuntu xenial )
Leafpad is just the trigger here. as the behavior of gvfs+sftp differs from
the local ext4 file system, it could cause some data loss in other software.
Reformulation of the bug:
if some data written to a stream file pointer are still not flushed before
opening+closing a second stream file pointer on that same file,
the flushing of remaining data on the first file pointer will :
   - succeed on a local ext4 filesystem.
   - fail when using gvfs+sftp (over a remote fs, or even over the local
   fs) with EOPNOTSUPP error code
@Max Rockatanski:
I think I will create a new bug report specifically for leafpad
[Pharo-users] Best way to distribut a pharo application to end users ...
2016-07-16 Thread anonyme
Hi,
About the best way to distribut a pharo application I understand with
documentation about Pharo there is a Moticello packages way but the end
user need to install Pharo at first...
I was looking for a way like standard windows application with an
install procedure with/or building a simple 32/64 bit binary executable
or building a java application... Could you tell me if this is possible ?
Thank you for your help.
Ok, that's the response I imagined. So, I will use Jaspert report... But
a last question : Do you know is I could push a bouton into my Smalltalk
application and run a jasper report like this ? I think I could run any
a process from smalltalk source code...
Thank you again !
If you store your data in a relational database, perhaps you could use
a third party report generator like Pentaho or JasperReports[1].  I
believe these are designed to be bolted on to applications, so perhaps
they'll have a more accessible API. From Pharo you should be able to
use a REST based API [2] of Pentaho.  It apparently does band reports
[3].
P.S. Band reports features like the table in [1] would be a great
addition to the Pharo ecosystem.
[sympy] Convert sympy expressions to use a 3rd party linear programming solver (pulp)
2016-05-28 Thread Matt Anonyme
Hi,
First of all, thanks for the fantastic open source library ! It has all I
could dream of (export to latex etc...).
I use sympy to generate constraints of a linear programming problem. At the
end of it, I want to find the solution for the system with
https://github.com/coin-or/pulp, i.e., I want to convert my
sympy.core.expr.Expr ( "x+y" etc..) into pulp.LpConstraint variables in
order to do as in this tutorial:
http://www.coin-or.org/PuLP/CaseStudies/a_blending_problem.html
===
# The five constraints are enteredprob += x1 + x2 == 100, "PercentagesSum"prob
+= 0.100*x1 + 0.200*x2 >= 8.0, "ProteinRequirement"prob += 0.080*x1 + 0.100*x2
>= 6.0, "FatRequirement"prob += 0.001*x1 + 0.005*x2 <= 2.0,
"FibreRequirement"prob += 0.002*x1 + 0.005*x2 <= 0.4, "SaltRequirement"
===
So for instance in my code, I have a sympy expression 0.100*x1 + 0.200*x2
but I want to substitute x1 and x2 by pulp.LpVariable (similar to sympy
symbol) so that the sympy.core.expr.Expr becomes a pulp.LpAffineExpression.
So far, I believe my best option is to use Expr.as_coefficients_dict to
rebuild the whole thing.
I wonder if there is a best option (even with another library than pulp, I
don't care) to solve this (optimization) problem.
Best regards
OpenBSD ports has mumble (client) and umurmur (minimalist server for mumble)
those packages.
{%- for ws_id in range(1, 10) %}
{{ ws%d | format(ws_id) )  }}
{%- endfor %}
Any tip plz ?
 Even if it requires writing an extension, I don't mind writing one, but I
 that way either.
2014-07-23 Thread Nicolas Anonyme
2014-07-22 23:24 UTC+02:00, Guillaume Lelarge guilla...@lelarge.info:
 Though I wonder what your colleague expects launching an EXPLAIN on a number
 of
 queries? we won't draw all query plans, that has not much sense to me.
He usually uses the feature with only one query at a time and he
didn't give a second thought.
But to my surprise, he admitted he (ab)uses the explain more often
as a syntax checker, than to check the query plan ... I know ...
But that doesn't change the root intuitiveness problem, does it ? :)
[pgadmin-support] Behavior of the Explain query button with multiple queries in the window
2014-07-22 Thread Nicolas Anonyme
Hello,
Today, one of my coworker was preparing several update and insert
queries, in a query window, and he pressed the Explain query button
to check the query plan, expecting it to be inoffensive.
He then sent me the requests to play them, but I immediately got some
errors about duplicate primary keys. After checking the related data,
all but one had been changed.
« - Hey, are you sure you did not already played the queries by error ?
- Yes, I only did an explain ... what the heck?... »
Hilarity ensues (I had luckily made a backup of the data just before).
The Explain query button seems to add an EXPLAIN keyword at the
start of the text so it only explains the first query, but other
queries will be simply played on the database.
So ok it was a bad idea, but we were wondering if it was the wisest
behavior or if maybe some countermeasures could be added in order to
enforce principle of least astonishment for layman users, like us.
Maybe like, :
 * when pressing that button, only explain the first query of the
text field, and ignore the following queries + display a warning in
the message panel (I think it would be the best solution, imho, but I
guess it would need a basic syntactical parser to find the end of the
first query),
 * change the tooltip of the button (explain the first query, play
the next ones)
 * add a pop-up warning if it seems to have several queries (« We said
explain query not explain queries, do you still want to continue
?»)
 * explain all the queries! (but I guess it would be a bit difficult
to implement without major UI and logic refactoring)
 * a better solution that I did not think of :)
 * no solution, because it works like intended (but I'd then
respectfully disagree on the intuitiveness of the feature)
(pgAdmin version : 1.18.1, linux and windows)
Thanks in advance for any feedback on this topic.
Best regards,
Nicolas
[freenet-support] Run Freenet on Raspbian Raspberry Pi Error
2014-04-13 Thread anonyme
Hello.
I installed Freenet on my Raspberry Pi with this tutorial (Post by
Infinite loop with openoffice
2012-08-14 Thread Mister Anonyme
Hi,
We have two CentOS 5.2 servers with openoffice 2.4.1 installed, see at the end
of the mail to see complete versions.
On one server, openoffice seems to have a bug, but we have the exact same
version (OS and openoffice) on other server that doesn't experience any issues.
When we start openoffice, it takes 100% of CPU time and stay there, as if
there's an infinite loop.
Below, strace output and openoffice version installed.
Do you know why?  Is there a bug with openoffice ?
Thanks!!
Bug#680418: gvfs-fuse: Wrongly sucessful posix fwrite call on a gvfs sftp mount can lead to data loss
2012-07-16 Thread Nicolas Anonyme
Hi Andreas!
Thank you for looking into this issue.
Reading your comments made me realise that I shouldn't have rushed my
first bug report and shouldnt have made unsupported assumptions making
me look like a fool. Now that you say it, it was obvious that it was
impossible for this strace to show the calls to the daemon (obvious
except after a long day of work and judgment clouded by my personnal
incompetence). Please disregard my previous 'analysis'.
Sticking to the facts : I did write this code sample mimicking the
leafpad behaviour, and succesfuly reproduced the data loss when using
it over a gvfs sftp mount. As my personnal analysis was erroneous, it
effectively does not imply gvfs is to blame. It only indicate a
correlations with this combination of factors not a causality (maybe
something like a specific race condition with the layers overhead ?).
As you said, It does not totally exclude a behaviour gvfs-fuse
different from the local filesystem :
You said also :
 Given that the strace is tracing the order of your writes against the gvfs
 fuse daemon, then I don't think it's much gvfs can do when the writes
 arrive in this order..
When I run my sample code without the gvfs-fuse, directly against
local filesytem, the writes are in the same order but the last write
succeed :
strace -i -e trace=write,open,stat,read,close,signal ./write5kfile
/tmp/5k.txt
{
 (...)
 [7eff782bb500] open(/tmp/5k.txt, O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666)
= 3
 [7eff782bb750] write(3, ...,
4096) = 4096
 [7eff782bb500] open(/tmp/5k.txt, O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_APPEND,
0666) = 4
 [7eff782bb690] close(4) = 0
 [7eff782bb750] write(3, ...,
1024) = 1024
 [7eff782bb690] close(3) = 0
 (...)
}
Whereas writing in the same file over gvfs-sftp leads to an unsupported result :
strace -i -e trace=write,open,stat,read,close,signal ./write5kfile
~/.gvfs/${my_localhost_mounted_dir}/tmp/5k.txt
{
 (...)
 [7f9e9d478500]
open(~/.gvfs/${my_localhost_mounted_dir}/tmp/5k.txt,
O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = 3
 [7f9e9d478750] write(3, ...,
4096) = 4096
 [7f9e9d478500]
open(~/.gvfs/${my_localhost_mounted_dir}/tmp/5k.txt,
O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_APPEND, 0666) = 4
 [7f9e9d478690] close(4) = 0
 [7f9e9d478750] write(3, ...,
1024) = -1 EOPNOTSUPP (Operation not supported)
 [7f9e9d478690] close(3) = 0
 (...)
}
But I don't know wich one is the expected correct result :\
Do you think I should also see with leafpad author(s) / package
maintenair(s) to fflush, fsync or close the file before calling
gtk_text_buffer_set_modified (which reopen the file in append mode) to
at least solve this behaviour in that application ?
Thank you again, Best regards
Bug#680418: gvfs-fuse: Wrongly sucessful posix fwrite call on a gvfs sftp mount can lead to data loss
2012-07-05 Thread Nicolas Anonyme
Package: gvfs-fuse
Version: 1.12.3-1+b1
Severity: critical
Tags: upstream
Justification: causes serious data loss
Dear Maintainer,
   * What led up to the situation?
After some of my files got truncated at 4096 bytes when saved in leafpad
over agvfs sftp mount, I did some debug, and found that the bug was
apparently in gvfs fuse sftp module.
   * What exactly did you do that was effective?
I wrote a small C soft that could reproduce the bug when trying to write a 5k
txt file over the sftp gvfs mount :
 - Mount a sftp location with gvfs : gvfs-mount sftp://${USER}@localhost;
 - compile and run the small piece of software :
  - The fwrite() posix call returns a number of bytes of the expected len,
  - But the gvfs layer buffers it and does not write the totality of the data
immediatly,
  - The software opens the same file in append mode, and that seems to
invalidate the subsequent write calls of the gvfs layer.
  - As a result the text file is truncated at 4kbyte on the remote disk
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
the text file should weight 5kbyte as gfvs-fuse also supports exposing the
gvfs mounts to non-gio applications using fuse.
The bug with leafpad + sftp + gvfs also exist in ubuntu as I found bug report
on launchpad, so it's probably upstream.
I joined the commented C code of my debug case.
I hope it can help a little, and I apologise for my bad English.
Thank you for reading this.
Bug#680418: gvfs-fuse: Wrongly sucessful posix fwrite call on a gvfs sftp mount can lead to data loss
2012-07-05 Thread Nicolas Anonyme
Package: gvfs-fuse
Version: 1.12.3-1+b1
Severity: critical
Tags: upstream
Justification: causes serious data loss
Dear Maintainer,
   * What led up to the situation?
After some of my files got truncated at 4096 bytes when saved in leafpad
over agvfs sftp mount, I did some debug, and found that the bug was
apparently in gvfs fuse sftp module.
   * What exactly did you do that was effective?
I wrote a small C soft that could reproduce the bug when trying to write a 5k
txt file over the sftp gvfs mount :
 - Mount a sftp location with gvfs : gvfs-mount sftp://${USER}@localhost;
 - compile and run the small piece of software :
  - The fwrite() posix call returns a number of bytes of the expected len,
  - But the gvfs layer buffers it and does not write the totality of the data
immediatly,
  - The software opens the same file in append mode, and that seems to
invalidate the subsequent write calls of the gvfs layer.
  - As a result the text file is truncated at 4kbyte on the remote disk
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
the text file should weight 5kbyte as gfvs-fuse also supports exposing the
gvfs mounts to non-gio applications using fuse.
The bug with leafpad + sftp + gvfs also exist in ubuntu as I found bug report
on launchpad, so it's probably upstream.
I joined the commented C code of my debug case.
I hope it can help a little, and I apologise for my bad English.
Thank you for reading this.
[zfs-discuss] swap weirdness
2011-08-02 Thread Mister Anonyme
Hi,
We have a host, Solaris 10 10/08 s10s_u6wos_07b on SPARC.
SWAP is on ZFS.
We allocated two swap devices of 64G each, for a total of around 130G.
Over the time, swap space usage is increasing until 96% of used:
# zpool list
In swap_space, I have two volumes, swapvol01 and swapvol02:
However, if we do swap -s, we have more than 54GB of free space (swap file name
is changed for confidentiality):
# swap -s
total: 51745880k bytes allocated + 39077200k reserved = 90823080k used,
56984152k available
/dev/swapvol02  256,2  16132120560 117956320
I understand that swap -l only show space used on those devices and swap -s
include physical memory AND backing store.  So logically, we should see a low
usage of both swap devices ... ?
But, /tmp, /etc/svc/volatile and /var/run directories aren't used:
# df -h /tmp /var/run /etc/svc/volatile
Filesystem size   used  avail capacity  Mounted on
swap54G   8.8M54G 1%/tmp
swap54G   232K54G 1%/var/run
swap54G   1.6M54G 1%/etc/svc/volatile
We have 20 zones but no one is taking many space in those directories (cut many
lines for better reading):
# for i in `zoneadm list |grep -v global`; do   zlogin $i df -h /tmp; done
Filesystem size   used  avail capacity  Mounted on
swap55G   275M54G 1%/tmp
[389-users] Unregister a server
2010-04-19 Thread Mister Anonyme
Hi,
A server crashed (physically, hardware failure) and we decided to no replace it.
In the Configuration Server, I would like to remove the server from the server
list in the console but I'm unable to do so.
I tried with this command: ds_removal, but it needs to be run on the same the
server that has to be removed.
Is there any other way to 'unregister' a server from the console on the
configuration server ?
Thank you!
[389-users] PasswordExpirationTime
2010-04-12 Thread Mister Anonyme
Hi,
I exported some databases into LDIF files (db2ldif) and imported them in DS8.1
freshly installed.
Then, I went to the o= subtree and activated password policy like this Users
much change their passwords after 1 day.
I took a user in this subtree and changed the password.  Normally, I should see
a new attribute PasswordExpirationTime but it seems not.
So, as a test, I created a new o= subtree like this:  o=TestPwd,dc=test,dc=net
Then, I created a new user inside it: ebobo
After, I activated a password policy, I saw that two entries were created in
this subtree like this:
cn=nSPwPolicyContainer,o=TestPwd,dc=test,dc=net (two entries inside)
 cn=nsPwPolicyEntry,o=TestPwd,dc=test,dc=net (I can see this attr:
passwordexp on)
 cn=nsPwTemplateEntry,o=TestPwd,dc=test,dc=net
cn=nsPwPolicy_CoS,o=TestPwd,dc=test,dc=net
I changed ebobo's password and I still doesn't see the new attribute
PasswordExpirationTime in Advanced properties in the console.  If I check
on Show all Allowd Attributes, I can see this attribute but it isn't set.
I tried to set the PasswordExpirationTime myself in ebobo's account in this
format: 200901011223Z but this account isn't de-activated because of the
expiration time, I can still log-on on some sites with this account.
I took a look in access/error logs and there were not errors, only normal
operations.  I can provide it if needed.
I'm wondering if there's any other step to successfully activate the max age
password policy ?
Thank you!
[389-users] Size limit
2010-04-01 Thread Mister Anonyme
Hi,
The default value of response size limit in directory server is 2000 entries.
I couldn't find any documentation that explains clearly what could cause any
issues if I set it to unlimited (-1).  I have some clients that would want to
get a bulk response according to some search patterns.  Actually, we have
around 5000 objects that could be returned to clients.
Is by putting a size limit to -1 would cause an impact to the server
performance ?
Why does the size limit exists? Because of small clients and networks with high
latency/low bandwith ?
What is the difference between getting a bulk response in one shot and in paged
mode;  I mean does the paged mode really relieve the load on the server side,
ie: sending 1000 responses in 5 pages instead of giving 5000 responses in one
shot ?
Thank you in advance!
  I have CentOS 5.3 installed with Redhat Directory Server 8.1 and Java
  1.6.0
 Why are you using RHDS on CentOS instead of RHEL?  That's not really a
 supported configuration.
They're identical.  We use it for more than 5 years without any issues.
  Probably some fonts are missing ?  If yes, I would like to know what
  package to install ?
 I have no idea.  Were you using openjdk with DS 8.0?  You might try
 using redhat-idm-console -D 9 -f console.log - the log might have
 information about what fonts it's using.
I tried with those flags and there were not errors and not one line about fonts.
Anyway, since you're talking about openjdk, I just noticed that it wasn't
coming from Sun.  So, I downloaded the latest java version from Sun
(jdk-6u18-linux-i586-rpm.bin) , updated the alternatives and fonts are normal
now.
8.0, I was using Java 1.5 from IBM but it doesn't work with 8.1 so I took the
latest version from the repository, which is openjdk 1.6.
Thank you!
[389-users] 8.1 font weirdness on CentOS 5.3
2010-01-22 Thread Mister Anonyme
Hi,
I have CentOS 5.3 installed with Redhat Directory Server 8.1 and Java 1.6.0
Here's the following installed packages:
adminutil-1.1.8-2.el5dsrv.x86_64.rpm
adminutil-devel-1.1.8-2.el5dsrv.x86_64.rpm
idm-console-framework-1.1.3-9.el5idm.noarch.rpm
jss-4.2.5-1.el5idm.x86_64.rpm
redhat-admin-console-8.1.0-2.el5dsrv.noarch.rpm
redhat-ds-8.1.0-1.el5dsrv.x86_64.rpm
redhat-ds-admin-8.1.0-9.el5dsrv.x86_64.rpm
redhat-ds-base-8.1.0-0.14.el5dsrv.x86_64.rpm
redhat-ds-base-devel-8.1.0-0.14.el5dsrv.x86_64.rpm
redhat-ds-console-8.1.0-5.el5dsrv.noarch.rpm
redhat-idm-console-1.0.1-1.el5idm.x86_64.rpm
java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-0.25.b09.el5
When I start redhat-idm-console, fonts aren't smooth and are hard to read in
some tabs, unlike DS 8.0, see screenshots:
 http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/6193/toto.png
Probably some fonts are missing ?  If yes, I would like to know what package to
install ?
Thank you in advance!
RE: MyFaces ignores immediate=true when using Tiles 2.
2009-09-15 Thread bugfactory anonyme
Hello again.
I did a whole lot of testing. I tried to change Tiles 2 for Facelets, but I
still had the same problem!
So I made four examples, using different implementation. I always used the
latest JSF 1.2 releases (MyFaces 1.2.7, Mojarra 1.2.12, Facelets 1.1.14).
MyFaces alone, works as intended.
Mojarra (Sun's implementation) alone, works as intended.
MyFaces and Facelets fails like my application does.
Mojarra and Facelets fails too !
The four project are a single form with an integer field, that maps to a
application scope bean. There are an ok and a cancel command link. The
cancel has its immediate attribute set to true.
So clicking ok should update the field value, while clicking cancel should not.
This is what happens without Facelets. If I use it, both links update the
field, as if there was no immediate=true.
So I probably made a mistake using facelets.
Here is the code for Mojarra and Facelets. I can send the four projects to
anyone willing to help.
Good morning.
As a first time poster on this list, I'd like to say hello to everybody.
I have run into a problem when attempting to upgrade an application to use
MyFaces 1.2 and Tiles 2. (It previously used MyFaces 1.1 and Struts Tiles.) My
command links ignores their immediate=true attribute. There is an exception
happening in my getters when they should not have been called in the first
place.
I suspect a bug in JspTilesTwoViewHandlerImpl, though I may be the one to
blame. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix or work around this problem ?
Thanks in advance,
Sign up form for Jira out of order
2009-09-14 Thread bugfactory anonyme
Hello again.
I wanted to tell the developpers about the issue of immediate = true not
functionning. So I tried to sign up for JIRA. But the sign up form keeps
telling me You must enter the text exactly as it appears in the picture.
Well, I did. But it just does not work. Does anybody know how to contact the
staff to have it fixed? Please do not tell me I have to use Jira.
You're right.  I found out that the schema was just a coincidence.
I found out that it was the replication was working will until I restart one of
two masters.  In fact, I never restarted it since it was up.
Here's the file.inf on the second master, at the installation:
[General]
AdminDomain = domain.net
ConfigDirectoryAdminID = admin
FullMachineName = SERVER
SuiteSpotUserID = nobody
ConfigDirectoryAdminPwd = PASS
ServerAdminID = admin
ServerAdminPwd = pass
SysUser = nobody
Port = 9830
[slapd]
ServerIdentifier = LOCALSERVER
ServerPort = 389
AddOrgEntries = Yes
RootDN = cn=Directory Manager
RootDNPwd = PASS
Suffix = dc=bd,dc=domain,dc=net
UseExistingMC = Yes
AddSampleEntries = No
ConfigFile = netscaperootdb.ldif
ConfigFile = devdb.ldif
ConfigFile = proddb.ldif
ConfigFile = repluser.ldif
ConfigFile = changelog.ldif
ConfigFile = replica.ldif
ConfigFile = replagreement.ldif
What I did is I removed all ConfigFile lines and I simply executed ldapmodify
on each file after the /usr/sbin/setup-ds.pl (I had to modify each file by
adding changetype: add).  It seems to fix the issue.  I added a new schema
and replication is still working even if the other master doesn't have it.  I
restarted both masters, and it still works.
It seems it break the implementation if I use ConfigFile directly in the
file.inf at the installation.  That's why I was able to reproduce the issue
because I was using the same installation method.
RE: [389-users] How to restore replica admin in the master
2009-09-03 Thread Mister Anonyme
Hi,
I tried with setup-ds-admin.pl but the configuration files is already present
so this setup fails.  I forgot to add that I use the version 8.0.
Anyway, if I completely re-install two masters servers, configurations files
for slaves will be lost.  It seems that I don't have a choice to re-install
slaves too.
As a final word, for those who use 8.0 and are using replication system, don't
add a new schema file in /etc/dirsrv/slapd-/schema.  I'll tell you why:
 I read the docs for DS 8.0 and anywhere it talks about add new schema file but
I found it myself by digging in /etc/dirsrv and I tested it in the lab.
Later, when I added a new bunch of users, I noticed that the replication was
stopped between two masters, but not between master and slaves.  I tried to
understand why it doesn't work anymore and I found out by reading in 8.1 (the
next version that we don't use it yet) documentation that it says that we need
to stop all replication before adding a new schema file.
Heh, good to know, but it was already too late.
I tried everything like removing/creating replication agreement, removing local
database, recreate it, etc, the second master doesn't just want to start the
replication.  However, the replication between the first master and slaves is
working well because I first added a new schema file on the slave, the
restarted the slapd.  After, I added it on the first master, and then restarted
it.  In fact, it worked very well until I added a new bunch of users with the
new attribute that's only present from the new schema file that I added
earlier.  Since then, the replication between two master just stopped, even
o=netscaperoot isn't replicated anymore.
The worst thing is, I first tried adding a new schema in the lab and it worked
flawlessly, even when I added some users.  I found out that the problem arise
only when I restart again one of two masters.  In other words, I stop the
slapd, I add a new schema, I fire it up.  I do the same thing on the second
master.  It works.  I stop again the second, and bam, you lost the replication
and you just corrupted some database including the o=netscaperoot.
So, be cautious when you add a new schema file ;-)
  but if I can reconfigure the admin so I can see all replicas in the
  Redhat Management Console, it would be nice.
 snip
 Ouch! I think I understand.  Unfortunately, I'm on the run and can't
 explore it in detail but here is an excerpt from our internal
 documentation on restoring the admin relationship between slave and
 master and losing and then restoring the master from the slave database:
 Once the data is restored, we need to tell LDAP1 that it is the
 configuration master and that LDAP2 uses it.
 On LDAP1 run register-ds-admin.pl
 Then, on LDAP2 run setup-ds-admin.pl -u but, for some reason, it
 insists on installing the CA cert and, since it already exists in the
 database, it errors.  So we first remove the existing CA cert:
 cd /etc/dirsrv/admin-serv
 certutil -D -d . -n CA certificate
 then run setup-ds-admin.pl -u and take defaults except we must enter the
 path the to CA cert (/etc/dirsrv/admin-serv/MyCA.pem).
 Hope this helps.  I think the original threads where Rich Megginson
 helped us through this scenario are still in the archive.  Good luck -
 If those docs need to be corrected, please send us the links.  Also note
 that in 8.0:
 If you want to add new schema to an existing instance, you must add the
 files to /etc/dirsrv/slapd-instancename/schema, then restart the server
 for the schema changes to take effect
 /etc/dirsrv/schema is only for new instances only - existing servers
 don't use these files
 schema files are not replicated - the only way to replicate schema is to
 add the new schema over LDAP
I read docs from here:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/dir-server/
About schemas, I read here:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/dir-server/cli/8.0/Configuration_Command_File_Reference-Core_Server_Configuration_Reference.html#Configuration_Command_File_Reference-Server_Configuration___Overview-LDIF_Configuration_Files___Location
And here:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/dir-server/ag/8.0/Extending_the_Directory_Schema.html
I just can't find the description you just put here ?  It must be hidden in
some obscure area... or I need eyeglasses.
 With 8.1 you have the ability to add schema files, then have the server
 reload them without having to restart the server, but the schema files
 added by copying them to the server instance schema directory will still
 not be replicated.
Yep exactly.
  Later, when I added a new bunch of users, I noticed that the
  replication was stopped between two masters, but not between master
  and slaves.  I tried to understand why it doesn't work anymore
 Anything in the errors or access logs?
Yep, it happens each time I add a new schema on a replicated system.  Here are
the logs:
Master A:
[02/Sep/2009:10:15:17 -0400] NSMMReplicationPlugin -
[02/Sep/2009:11:44:10 -0400] NSMMReplicationPlugin - conn=3572 op=3
replica=unknown: Unable to acquire replica: error: no such replica
Take note that it happens only when I add a new schema and I restart the
server.  When I restart without adding a new schema, I don't have that kind of
error, it just works.
What I did is I copy the schema in /etc/dirsrv/slapd-/schema and then I
restart the server.
However, in the lab, at the installation, I initially copied the schema (before
the the start of the replication) and started both servers and it works
flawlessly.
  and I found out by reading in 8.1 (the next version that we don't use
  it yet) documentation that it says that we need to stop all
  replication before adding a new schema file.
 Can you provide a link to the documentation?
There you go:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/dir-server/8.1/admin/dynamically-reloading-schema.html#reloading-schema-with-replication
 I'm not really sure what's going on here.  I seriously doubt there is
 any data corruption happening (unless there is some disk/hardware
 failure).  I would first suggest you check your errors log in
 /var/log/dirsrv/slapd-instancename/errors
Maybe ? I find it very weird too but the fact is: I'm able to reproduce the
issue in the lab.  More than one.  I already verified the logs and I also
enabled the verbose mode by doing this:
dn: cn=config
changetype: modify
replace: nsslapd-errorlog-level
nsslapd-errorlog-level: 8192
Thanks!
 This means something has broken or removed the replication
I know, myself, I don't understand how a schema file could break it.  I removed
  http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/dir-server/8.1/admin/dynamically-reloading-schema.html#reloading-schema-with-replication
  %20http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/dir-server/8.1/admin/dynamically-reloading-schema.html#reloading-schema-with-replication
 How did you stop and restart replication?
I didn't try it.  Actually, I copied the schema file and then finished the
installation of the Multi-Master Replication.
I don't think we can simply stop the replication on a running MMR on DS 8.0, I
think we need to remove all replication agreements before adding a new schema
file.  Maybe with DS 8.1 we can stop it ?
[Fedora-directory-users] Export the Windows Agreement in LDIF format
2008-09-05 Thread Mister Anonyme
Hi,
The subject says it all, I'm wondering if it's possible to export a Windows
Agreement in LDIF format so I can install a new Directory Server automatically
next time.
Thank you.
[Fedora-directory-users] SSL communication between AD and DS
2008-08-26 Thread Mister Anonyme
Hi,
This is driving me crazy
I'm trying to setup a SSL communication between Directory Server and AD.
Without SSL, the synchronization works very well, I can see all user accounts
in DS, but I need SSL to be able to synchronize the passwords as well.
So, here what I did:
On AD, I opened IE on this following address:
http://localhost/certsrv/
I requested a new certificate and installed it.  I can see the new certificate
in MMC console, in Certificate-Personal-Certificates.
After, I exported the CA Certificate from DS like this:
pk12util -d . -o CAcert.pfx -n CAcert
I transfered the file to AD and imported it right here:
MMC Console-Certificate-Trusted Root Certification Authorites-Certificates
Then, I exported the CA Certificate (from AD) from the same directory as above
and imported in DS with the DS Console (section Manage Certificates-CA Certs)
I tested the communication by doing this:
/usr/lib/mozldap6/ldapsearch -Z -P /etc/dirsrv/slapd-myinst/cert8.db -h 1.1.1.1
-p 636 -D cn=Windows Sync,cn=users,dc=domain,dc=local -w _PASS_ -s sub -b
ou=users,dc=domain,dc=local (objectClass=*)
Work well, I have a listing of user accounts.
Then, I re-created a new Windows Sync agreement (with SSL and port 636) and I'm
always getting this following error:
The consumer initialization has unsuccessfully completed.
The error received by the replica is: 48 - LDAP error: Inappropriate
authentication
Thank you for your help in advance.
  Input the Directory Server password on the server SERVER2:
 Hmm - not sure.  Either earlier attempts have broken something past the
 point of repair, or there is a bug in register-ds-admin.pl - maybe it
 expects o=NetscapeRoot to not already exist?  But then the setup step
 earlier would fail without it.  Try register-ds-admin.pl -ddd
OK.
I deinstalled all packages and did a rm -rf of all directories like this:
rm -rf /etc/dirsrv /usr/lib/dirsrv /usr/share/dirsrv /var/lib/dirsrv/
/var/lock/dirsrv /var/log/dirsrv /usr/share/dirsrv/manual/en/admin
/tmp/setup*.{log,inf}
And re-installed and I ran /usr/sbin/setup-ds.pl with the same LDIF files that
I showed you earlier with a fix that you provided.  After, I did a synchronize
of the replication with success (replication status confirmed that it worked).
In other words, it went without any errors.
Then, I did a /usr/sbin/register-ds-admin.pl -ddd on the second server and
there you go:
I did a small mistake.
I tried to re-create a scenario of when I tried to create a failover system.
About step 3, the synchronization, Instead of sending this command:
dn: cn=ExampleAgreement1,cn=replica,cn=o=NetscapeRoot,cn=mapping
tree,cn=config
changetype: modify
replace: nsds5beginreplicarefresh
nsds5beginreplicarefresh: start
I sent this:
dn: cn=replication_netscaperoot,cn=replica,cn=o=NetscapeRoot,cn=mapping
tree,cn=config
changetype: modify
replace: nsds5beginreplicarefresh
nsds5beginreplicarefresh: start
The result is:
modifying entry
cn=replication_netscaperoot,cn=replica,cn=o=Netscaperoot,cn=mapping
tree,cn=config
modify complete
Then, the error in the console is:
invalid credentials
in 'status' tab, 'replication status'.
I can confirm that the credentials are OK because I used the same file
repluser.ldif in both servers.
Also, when I try to open the console in SERVER2, I got this error:
Cannot connect to the Admin Server http://SERVER2:9830/;
The URL is not correct or the server is not running.
I restarted the SERVER2 without success.
Thanks
 I think it is mentioned in the documentation.
 2. Install and configure the second Directory Server instance. For the
 second server, |server2.example.com|, use the |setup-ds.pl| command,
 which installs a Directory Server instance without installing a local
 Administration Server.
 Which is what you did below anyway.  However, there is a doc bug:
 ConfigFile = netscaperootdb.ldif example suffix entry
 This links to an example of the suffix only, which is what you did below
 - the ldif only creates the suffix, not the associated database.
 The LDIF file should contain this:
 dn: cn=NetscapeRoot,cn=ldbm database,cn=plugins,cn=config
 objectclass: top
 objectclass: extensibleObject
 objectclass: nsBackendInstance
 nsslapd-suffix: o=NetscapeRoot
 cn: NetscapeRoot
 objectclass: nsMappingTree
[Axiom-developer] [#227 'random()$Integer' is a strange function] (nouveau)
2005-11-04 Thread anonyme
Changes http://wiki.axiom-developer.org/227RandomIntegerIsAStrangeFunction/diff
--
Currently there is a function 'random()' for 'IntegerNumberSystem', which is
documented to return a random number::
   random   : () - %
  ++ random() creates a random element.
Of course, this is really a half-lie. There is no uniform distribution over the
integers, so one wonders which distribution is used.
After a grep I found the definition for 'random()$INT' in
interp/spad.boot.pamphlet:
(defun |random| () (random (expt 2 26)))
So, at least the documentation should change. But in fact, I don't see why such
a function should exist at all.
Disappering requests
2005-10-26 Thread bugfactory anonyme
Hello.
I load tested a web application and the results are weird : there is a
request missing here and there.
I have 40 users asking 10 times for a page, but there are only 399 requests
in the agregated report and no error reported. Assertions everywhere return
no problems.
1 request in a few thousands might not change the result of my load testing,
but this is disturbing.
Any idea what is going on?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Disappering requests
2005-10-26 Thread bugfactory anonyme
Version : jmeter 2.1.1
No message on the console window.
Saving the results to a log file is not doable. It is one request out of
thousands. When I send less requests, there is no missing request.
What is CSV? If it is one of the data writers, I did not use one. I used the
command line to choose a file.
What should I be looking for in the log file?
Any messages in the console window?
Have you tried saving the results to a log file?
CSV is cheapest on disk space.
Or you could add a summariser - this just writes to the log file every
so often, and at the end.
PDF User manual?
2005-10-19 Thread bugfactory anonyme
Hello.
Is there any pdf version, or any other easily printable version, of the user
manual? My boss would like to have a printed version, and I would not like
to have to print each html page one by one.
Sorry for the trivial question, but I cannot find one anywhere.
Thanks in advance.
Re: PDF User manual?
2005-10-19 Thread bugfactory anonyme
Well, he IS a developper. And he wanted me to print the manual so I could
find out how to start a test from the shell. I was persuaded that was not
possible. (On that topic : someone should change 2.4.3 Non-GUI Mode to
2.4.3 Shell command and link to it from Distributed Testing.)
I guess I just have to print those files one by one. I hoped to run a script
using lp but it does not understand html. So that's a page by page printing.
Thanks.
No, there isn't one at present.
The printable_docs version has 25 files in the usermanual directory.
This is probably well over 100 pages in total.
Most of which is only needed for _developing_ JMeter scripts...
Running a distributed test, with slaves and master on different subnets
2005-10-13 Thread bugfactory anonyme
Hello.
I want to run a distributed test. My problem is that the slave (the computer
running jmeter-server) is on a different sub-net than the master (the
computer running the GUI jmeter). Rmiregistry cannot run that unless I use a
proxy. I have such a proxy, how do I use it?
Also, the proxy parameters on the command line are used to set the proxy
through which requests are sent to the target (the tested wen-service), not
the one used by RMI. Or am I confused?
Thanks in advance.
I do not remember the details, but you need to add preprocessors and
postprocessors to your requests. Check the corresponding sections in jmeter
manual. Hope this helps.
I haven't personally done this, but I would ask your network administrator
to configure the proxy to automatically route the traffic between the
subnet. depending on your network setup, it might be a software setup or
configuring the router.
Changing the RMI port for distributed testing
2005-10-12 Thread bugfactory anonyme
Hello. I want to use the distributed testing function of jmeter.
The problem is that the defeult port 1099 is already used on the distant
machine I want to run jmeter-server on. How do I change the port used by
jmeter? I keep seeing options to change the port the client will send his
messages to, but nothing to change the port the server will receive them
from.
Please do not hesitate to answer even if you are not sure, it is kind of an
emergency.
Thanks in advance.
I already did that, but it did not work. However, after your message, I
looked into it some more and found out I also had to change rmiregistry
to rmiregistry port  in jmeter-server. Thanks.
I now have another problem.
I remembered from
in the manual that rmiregistry might not be configured, so I typed
export
CLASSPATH=path_to_jmeter/lib/ext/ApacheJMeter_core.jar:path_to_jmeter/lib/jorphan.jar:path_to_jmeter/lib/logkit-1.2.jar
but it did not work.
I am as new to Linux as I am to jmeter so I might have done something wrong.
Any idea?
Re: Changing the RMI port for distributed testing
2005-10-12 Thread bugfactory anonyme
I do not know if jmeter starts normally in GUI mode. It is a remote server,
I have terminal only (text only console).
My co workers found out a bit more, though. libXp.so.6 is a system library
required by libawt.so. We downloaded libXp.so.6 and installed it, but it did
not solve the problem. I think java does not detect we added it.
jmeter.properties says:
# Change default port used by server (need to start rmiregistry with same
port)
#server.rmi.port=1099
A bit cryptic perhaps.
That does not look like an RMI problem - looks more like a Java
installation problem.
 I remembered from
 but it did not work.
There should be no need to change jmeter-server beyond adding the
port, as it already sets up the correct classpath.
 I am as new to Linux as I am to jmeter so I might have done something
wrong.
 Any idea?
Does JMeter start OK in normal GUI mode?
