Bug#465044: the whole system freezes when clicking on a link in pidgin
Does it actually freeze, or can you get to a console with Ctrl-Alt-F1? If your browser when starting pidgin from a terminal is links2, then it's probably the same as starting pidgin from outside a terminal. What is the browser set to in pidgin's preferences under the Network tab? On Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 10:34:42AM +0100, henry atting wrote: It means that everyting freezes, the only thing that is left to do is to shut down with the power button of my notebook. Whereas if I start pidgin from a terminal it is quite different. When clicking on a link the default www-browser (links2) is opened within the terminal and everything works fine. My default x-www-browser is iceweasel by the way.

Python 2.5 as release goal

Bug#453759: pidgin crash on closing with x on window frame
Perhaps you had some plugins configured. Can you send the original prefs.xml file? On Thu, 2007-12-06 at 10:59 +0100, Arnfinn Ringvold wrote: Hi Ari Re: I loaded all plugins one at a time and Pidgin works fine. This is what I did: To preserve my Pidgin setup, contacts, blist etc I actually moved just the pref.xml file out of the way, and kept the /.pidgin folder untouched. I then loaded all plugins one at a time and Pidgin still performed well. Then I edited the new pref.xml file to only contain the plugins of my original file (only 18 plugins). Pidgin now runs without problems so far. To me this suggests that my prefs.xml file was corrupted in some other way than by some plugin. regards Arnfinn -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#453711: I made a patch for using normal $HOME (As documented in the glib documentation)
The documentation for g_get_home_dir() says the following: Note that in contrast to traditional UNIX tools, this function prefers passwd entries over the HOME environment variable. One of the reasons for this decision is that applications in many cases need special handling to deal with the case where HOME is Not owned by the user Not writeable Not even readable Since applications are in general not written to deal with these situations it was considered better to make g_get_homedir() not pay attention to HOME and to return the real home directory for the user. Did you take the appropriate precautions for those cases? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#453711: I made a patch for using normal $HOME (As documented in the glib documentation)
Klaus Ethgen wrote: Well, it do not return the real home directory as I mention above. Note that all other software is using $HOME (even the X authentication in .Xauthority if not other configured). Only gimp make this problem. (Well, only in the set of software I use. There might be some more using the glib. But also many software using glib use the correct home directory from $HOME (gqview for example)) Most standalone GTK apps do not look at $HOME, only g_get_home_dir(). GIMP, Pidgin, LogJam, Brightside, and Streamtuner all do not use $HOME. Because of this, and because you can override gimp's home directory with GIMP2_DIRECTORY, I'm only considering this a minor documentation bug. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. reassign 453767 python-gst0.10 thanks I'm reassigning this back to python-gst0.10 since the python-gst package no longer exists, but there does not seem to be a proper upgrade path for people who already had python-gst installed from etch. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#453759: pidgin crash on closing with x on window frame
Arnfinn Ringvold wrote: Pidgin crashed on first start up after bug#453759 caused crash. Inspecting memory gave this result: This didn't really answer my question. To recap: Could you try unloading all of the plugins and see if it still crashes? If it no longer crashes, try loading each of them individually until you see the crash. If you move your ~/.purple directory out of the way, it will disable all plugins on the next startup. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
