Hey Rakesh, I'll be going for the Sydney concert on the 17th. You said you
felt like you shoulda taken a recording devicewere there any
restrictions on people recording things or didn't the show's organisers care
about that?

Melbourne Concert - The 'Ghanan Ghana' piece review:

Ghanan Ghanan - This is nothing like you've heard before!! It was
just ARR on the piano Shankar vocalising with just two words 'Ghanan
Ghanan'. The original lyrics of the song were NOT sung, it was just
'Ghanan Ghanan' sung in different variations to follow AR Rahman's
piano for about 5 minutes!! ARR opened the song with an incredibly
mindblowing piano prelude, and then Shankar slowly started vocalising
from low to high to very high pitch, singing only the words 'Ghanan
Ghanan' in several variations - It was simply magical and something I
will never forget!! Shankar proved he is unmatchable vocally.

Following the vocal variations of 'Ghanan', Shankar paused for a
moment and then said the following to introduce the second movement of
this incredible piece: In the film, Lagaan, the clouds come, the
village start singing, but then then the clouds go away. Now, imagine
for a moment that the clouds hadn't just gone past, but rather it
started raining. Imaginehow would A.R.Rahman have composed the
song for such a situation? Do you want to hear it? ...the crowd
replied with a resounding Yes!, and then, the large TV screen at the
back showed rain crowds moving along (it looked great with the 3D
glasses on), and then Shankar started vocalising again starting at low
Ghanan Ghanan Ghanan, and then quickly raising the speed and pitch,
rapidly singing Ghanan Ghanan to match the mood of pouring rain.
The melody kept varying to match the situation of rain pouring down.
It was an composition by AR Rahman Shankar's vocal skills weree
simply superb. It was the most incredible piece of music I have ever
heard. I'm kicking my myself very hard for not taking a audio
recorder of some sort to the concert...folks please take along some
form of audio recording device to capture these incredible pieces
speically made for concerts!

I'd be impressed if they'd done it either 1D or 2D ;-)

How did the Melbourne concert turn out to be ? What D was it, 1, 2 or 3?
