Bug#1069609: Review of mount-zip

2024-05-17 Thread Dennis van Dok

[This is not a formal review with the intent to sponsor, but prospective
sponsors may use these findings as they see fit. Opinions are my own.]

Summary: a missing run-time dependency on fuse needs to be fixed.

[+] The orig.tar.gz is identical to the release file on Github.

[-] Lintian reports a warnings:

  - d/rules sets DEB_HOST_ARCH which should not be necessary. Consider
whether this is necessary; if so, add a lintian override or file
a bug against lintian explaining the false positive.

[+] License is GPL-3, licensecheck reports no odd copyrights or licenses

[+] Package builds cleanly with sbuild -d unstable

[+] d/control:

The capitalisation of the synopsis and long description could be improved.
The best practices[1] state that the synopsis gets no starting capital.

(The full description should start with a Capital, but this is awkward as
it starts with the name of the tool.)

1.
https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/best-pkging-practices.en.html#bpp-debian-control

Personal opinion:
the last paragraph of the long description is a bit wishy-washy; it could
be put more concisely by stating that the tool offers performance benefits
on large archives with many files.

[+] The rules file fits best practices

[+] passes piuparts

[-] tested installation on a clean system

There seems to be a missing run-time dependency on fuse:

[marxmail] Can Jews be Nazis?

2024-05-17 Thread Dennis Brasky
No more and apparently no less than any other community, Jews today are
prey to fascist
 and
Nazi ideation, despite their own catastrophic experience with it. That
makes the heroism of Jewish protestors – students and faculty alike – at
UCLA, USC, Columbia and dozens of other colleges and universities across
the country all the more noteworthy and necessary. It’s also why
journalists, politicians, business leaders and the rest of us have the
obligation to speak up loudly against fascism, genocide, and war in Gaza
and wherever else it occurs.

Stus-List Traveler sheet suggestions

2024-05-16 Thread Dennis C. via CnC-List
Curious what folks are using for traveler sheets. I am currently using 8mm
(5/16) Sta-Set but it's gotten stiff with age. I will soak it in fabric
softener and wash it but wouldn't mind replacing it with something softer
and more flexible.

Touche's traveler system is 4:1 so load is not excessive. It's rigged as a
continuous sheet. The turning blocks aren't large so flexibility is fairly
important. Here's a pic:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_sb5TfIENvsX0dGcEV2Mm1QNUE/view?usp=sharing=0-VoBpjBoTer6Q7B78Lk4ADQ

Probably looking at some kind of double braid line. Don't need or want
anything super high tech or expensive although with only 31 feet needed
this won't break the bank.

Hi Dennis!

We have a bunch of projects that you could work on, however,
choosing the right project depends of what you are interested
in and your experience with the concepts involved. Generally,
we have multiple fronts that work could be done on: the
compiler, the runtime library, the standard library, ecosystem
tools etc. I suggest you pick one of the categories, get the
code, try to fix the issues (you can find our list of issues
here: https://issues.dlang.org/ - searching for the keywork
"bootcamp" will list issues that are considered entry level,
but note that some of those might be more complicated then you
would expect at a first glance) and then we can have a hat on
projects you can work on. How does that sound?

RazvanN

just in case I've worked on an issue, how do I communicate with
the community/mentors about it? Is there a discord/slack
community I can join?

enssl version
OpenSSL 3.3.0 9 Apr 2024 (Library: OpenSSL 3.3.0 9 Apr 2024)

Which seems to work like a charm and I do have a few patches.

What I would like to do is climb in and see what can be done to create a
pure ISO 9899:1990 clean code path. May be reduced in features but would
still work pretty much everywhere. Maybe.

Sure do wish I had my old Oracle support contract to update this server
a bit but they want a LOT of money for that.

[R] Extracting values from Surv function in survival package

2024-05-15 Thread Dennis Fisher
OS X
R 4.3.3

Colleagues

I have created objects using the Surv function in the survival package:
> FIT.1
Call: survfit(formula = FORMULA1)

   n events median 0.95LCL 0.95UCL
SUBDATA$ARM=1, SUBDATA[, EXP.STRAT]=0 18 13345 156 NA
SUBDATA$ARM=2, SUBDATA[, EXP.STRAT]=1 13 5 NA 186 NA
SUBDATA$ARM=2, SUBDATA[, EXP.STRAT]=2 5 5168 81 NA
SUBDATA$ARM=2, SUBDATA[, EXP.STRAT]=3 1 1 22 NA NA

I am interested in extracting the “n” and “events” values.
“n” is easy:
> FIT.1[[1]]
[1] 18 13 5 1

or
> FIT.1$n
[1] 18 13 5 1

But I can’t figure out how to access “events”.

str(FIT.1) provides no insights:

 $ n: int [1:4] 18 13 5 1
 $ time : num [1:37] 45 106 107 124 152 156 170 176 319 371 ...

 $ type : chr "right"
 $ logse: logi TRUE

 $ conf.type: chr "log"

 $ upper: num [1:37] 1 1 1 0.996 0.962 ...
 $ call : language survfit(formula = FORMULA1)
 - attr(*, "class")= chr "survfit"

If I could access:
   n events median 0.95LCL 0.95UCL
SUBDATA$ARM=1, SUBDATA[, EXP.STRAT]=0 18 13345 156 NA
SUBDATA$ARM=2, SUBDATA[, EXP.STRAT]=1 13 5 NA 186 NA
SUBDATA$ARM=2, SUBDATA[, EXP.STRAT]=2 5 5168 81 NA
SUBDATA$ARM=2, SUBDATA[, EXP.STRAT]=3 1 1 22 NA NA
it should be easy to get “events”.

Any thoughts?

put object file input source

ssl/quic/libssl-lib-quic_sstream.o ssl/quic/quic_sstream.c

Next I see quic_stream_map.c results in two object files :

output object file input source
--
ssl/quic/libssl-lib-quic_stream_map.o ssl/quic/quic_stream_map.c
ssl/quic/libssl-shlib-quic_stream_map.o ssl/quic/quic_stream_map.c

Same situation again for quic_tserver.c :

output object file input source
--
ssl/quic/libssl-lib-quic_tserver.o ssl/quic/quic_tserver.c
ssl/quic/libssl-shlib-quic_tserver.ossl/quic/quic_tserver.c

Lastly we see quic_txp.c gives us two objects also :

output object file input source
--
ssl/quic/libssl-lib-quic_txp.o ssl/quic/quic_txp.c
ssl/quic/libssl-shlib-quic_txp.ossl/quic/quic_txp.c

Looking at the above I can only guess that we are creating objects to
be linked later into a shared lib as well as object to be tossed into
a static lib AR type foo.a result. Just a guess.

None of the above seem involved with the stuff in the test directory and
clearly not a test/cert_comp_test-bin-cert_comp_test.o object file.

So ... what is going on here ?

Ah - are you just running the class within intellij? If so, you need to set
the classpath in the run configuration to be ctakes-examples. Otherwise the
classpath doesn't contain anything from modules outside ctakes-gui and
ctakes-core.

Alternatively, run the maven compile step with the "runPiperGui" profile
selected. That will also run the piper file submitter gui with the correct
classpath.

Using a binary build, after running bin/getUmlsDictionary, running
bin/runPiperSubmitter also works.

I don't want to do it for 5.1.0, but I should make names of the class, profile
and script match.

I will check the wiki instructions and make sure that -exact- details are in
there.

I can check out and build successfully with mvn from the command line. I can
successfully open in intellij and run the piper file submitter. I get an error

What would you recommend for testing? Download the release tag to a clean

Hi Gandhi,

  * So post release I would be able to run mvn clean
install on web rest module rather than relying on resources in .m2 folder

The opposite. Pre-release there are no jars on maven central, post-release
there are.
Running 'mvn package' directly on the ctakes-web-rest project (in its
directory) or running 'mvn package' on the ctakes -main- project (in the main
ctakes root directory) with the web-rest-build profile enabled
'-Pweb-rest-build'
will build the ctakes-web-rest.war web package.
That profile is defined in the main ctakes pom.

[marxmail] Gaslit to Death: Giving Cover to Israel’s Rafah Atrocity with Phony Gaza Numbers Game

2024-05-15 Thread Dennis Brasky
Playing with the death toll from Israel’s total war on Gaza is not as cruel
as actually killing over 35,000 people, the majority women and children.
But it is still cruel and heartless. It is also another way we are being
gaslit by the pro-Zionist US establishment.

Bug#873922: [PATCH] Test for NULL file pointer for /sys/class/net//carrier

2024-05-14 Thread Dennis van Dok

I can confirm that netcfg crashes in this situation, tested with version
1.189 (UNRELEASED) (git a218ebabc8cafdf5127e7ae006d3be15feef8824)

I used the following method for testing and debugging this.

You will need:
- a clean build environment like a container or VM (I used Incus)
- a basic VM to test on (qemu/libvirt)

Set up Incus (following https://wiki.debian.org/Incus)

incus create images:debian/12 debcon

(Some additional steps to include home dir bind mount etc. skipped here.)

Inside container:

Update /etc/apt/sources.list to include unstable deb and deb-src.

Set up the debian installer sources following
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/Build

In debian-installer/packages/netcfg:

(edit source files to include more debugging)

dpkg-buildpackage -b --no-sign

In debian-installer/installer/build:

copy the udeb file to localudebs/

cp ../../packages/netcfg_1.189+test1_amd64.udeb localudebs/netcfg.udeb

fakeroot make build_netboot

Now copy the kernel and initrd to a location outside the container
(easiest if a bind mount was used, otherwise incus file pull can be used).

cd /var/tmp
cp
debian-installer/installer/build/dest/netboot/debian-installer/amd64/initrd.gz .
cp debian-installer/installer/build/dest/netboot/debian-installer/amd64/linux .

Use virt-manager to create a new VM:

- type QEMU/KVM
- Manual Installation
- debiantesting
- default mem/cpu
- check the box for 'edit configuration before launch'

In the hardware settings, add a second network interface
In the boot settings, select the kernel and initrd in /var/tmp
set the kernel boot parameters to "interface=invalid BOOT_DEBUG=2 auto=true"

Start the installation procedure. For me this crashed netcfg.

After adding more debugging to the code I found that ethtool-lite.c was
opening /sys/class/net/invalid/carrier but that file does not exist so
the file pointer returned is NULL. The code then proceed to fgets from
the NULL pointer.

Below is a small patch that remedies that situation.

AS the installer would get stuck retrying the same interface name, the
patch adds code to reset netcfg/choose_interface in case UNKNOWN is
returned by ethtool_lite.

[marxmail] Gaza War is Bolstering Iran’s Standing in the Muslim World as Anti-Americanism Surges

2024-05-14 Thread Dennis Brasky
Iran’s leadership has been a direct beneficiary of the months-long war in
Gaza. With every missile that Israel fires on Gaza, every US veto of a UN
Security Council ceasefire resolution, and every arrest of an anti-war
protester on American university campuses, Iran’s rejection of the
US-dominated world order gains more credibility in the Muslim world.

The ruling clerical regime in Iran has built its foreign policy on the
pillar of anti-Americanism, rejecting what it frames as the “injustice” of
US domination and “bullying
”
of other countries. Washington’s continued support for Israel’s war on Gaza
in the face of an increasing international backlash has only reinforced
this narrative.

Thanks Dennis for your help. Thank you others as well for responding. The
command VO shift space works most of the time. Sometimes, however, I receive an
error that says, “message failed to send” or something similar to that. May be
problem is with my keyboard because, as I said, the command does not fail all
the times.

Dear all. Let me start by Thanking you all for running or contributing to this
useful list. My question is what keyboard command to use to simulate double tap
and hold. For instance, to record a voice message on Whatsapp, you have to

How to Turn on Detailed Voice Guidance for Vision Impaired Users in Google Maps

by Joe Lonergan
Detailed Voice Guidance is not a new feature, but it is not well known and is
hidden deep in the settings of Google Maps. If you are a fan of Google Maps, we
think it is a good feature to turn on for a vision-impaired or blind user.
Detailed Voice Guidance expands the existing walking directions guidance with
several extra elements. The directions are more proactive so that if you take a
wrong turn, the vocal guide will tell you and find the best way to your
destination from your new point. Along the way, it will tell you not only where
to turn, but how far away it is and in what direction you are facing, and the
vocal guide will also alert you before reaching busy intersections.
So how do we turn on this detailed navigation feature?
1. Open Google Maps
2. Navigate to Account and Settings, If you are a VoiceOver user you will
find it by flicking left and it is the first option you will hear.
3. While in here go to Settings.
4. Now go to Navigation
5. Flick to the right all the way down until you get to detailed Voice
Guidance and turn it on
We love to hear software companies adding features like this into universal or
mainstream apps as it is easier to use one app to get most of your information
and gives the user more freedom and confidence.
If you are a user of Google Maps and you have turned on this feature we would
like to hear if you found the extra navigation voice cues help to get to your
final destination or if you are a user of any other navigation or mobility apps
like Soundscape or Apple Maps we would love to hear which you find best and why?
You can send a voice note to the Talking Technology WhatsApp number 086 199
0011 and we can play it on the show.

[marxmail] "Outside Agitators!"

2024-05-13 Thread Dennis Brasky
People across the country and around the world, inclusive of Jewish
organizations, have watched and been horrified by what they have seen
unfold in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territory. People have watched
as more than 35,000 Gazans, the majority of them civilians and children,
have been killed. There are reports daily of Israeli military and Jewish
settlers killing Palestinians in the West Bank. People have watched as
people are being starved to death and faced with health services virtually
destroyed because of Israeli military actions. People have watched as
journalists have been targeted and killed, and humanitarian workers
murdered. People have watched and the outrage has been growing worldwide
and on U.S. campuses. All of this has been taking place while the U.S.
administration and its politicians first denied the devastations, doubted
the casualty count, vetoed condemnations at the UN, and found creative ways
to minimize any criticism of Israel while the U.S. enabled the death and
destruction in Gaza.

The U.S. government has consistently supplied Israel with weapons to
prosecute the war. Even as the U.S. administration admonished Israel to be
more careful of killing civilians it supplied Israel with $17 billion in
supplemental aid. The support to Israel occurs despite the Leahy Law, named
after former U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy. The rules under the law require
that military assistance be withheld from forces engaged in human rights
violations. Clearly, the excessive death and destruction, and the
extra-judicial killings in the West Bank constitute gross human rights
violations. Yet, the Biden administration, as well as other administrations
before has persisted in violating its own law.

I see. I am having great difficulty with 3.3 on an old Sun SPARC64

sort of but it is a hack. Given how portable the code is there must be a
configuration option somewhere to disable the need for those atomic ops.

Meanwhile, OpenSSL 3.0.x builds and tests flawlessly but ... how
long will that last?

therefore should be avoided.

Perhaps I need to define OPENSSL_DEV_NO_ATOMICS ?

2024-05-12 Thread Dennis Brasky
Sorry comrades for the premature send -
Two takeaways -

Biden’s “threat” to Israel – “too little, too late”. For 7 months, this
decades-long loyal supporter of apartheid, land theft, and occasional
massacres has been supplying them with all the weapons they needed to carry
out a full-scale genocide. Now with probably close to 50,000 dead
civilians, NOW he’s going to be hard on them?

……..

“And who, of course, is the close ally of Israel, the most pro-Israel force
here in Germany? It’s the far-right party. As we see elsewhere,
ethnonationalists love Israel as a model for the kind of place they want to
become: an ethnonational state that will dominate over people who are not
like them.”

Such as rightwing US Christian fundamentalists who see Israel being the
first step in “the Rapture” with Jesus coming back and sending all non-
believers (like Jews) to burn in hell for eternity. Years ago, Netanyahu
bragged that these fanatics greatly outnumbered young US Jews who were
growing critical of Israel and thus he was justified in counting them as
“friends.”!

It's clunky at best, if you haven't updated yet and you use your Sonos app a
lot I would highly recommend that you wait to see what happens in 2 weeks. I
told my Sonos contact that the ball is now in their court and they better make
sure the promises they made about major accessibility improvements on May 21
and more by end of June will happen.

Hi Sieghard. I also was able to check for a firmware update and found that
there was none. After playing around with the app, I was able to locate most
everything within the app. I certainly agree that the app needs some big
accessibility improvements. However, for me, I find it quite useable. I
originally updated the app on my iPad. Earlier today, I updated the app on my
iPhone 15 pro Max, running IOS 17.5 RC. You have to swipe quite a bit because
touching the screen does absolutely nothing. It tells me that true play is off
no matter how many times I tap to change the option. However, I know that it is
changing because I can hear the change in the sound from the speaker that is
playing. Also, My sighted wife says that the icon changes. I hope Sonos
address the VoiceOver accessibility issues sooner rather than later. But for
me, The app is useable.

[FFmpeg-user] NVENC regressions in FFmpeg 7: More than 1000 frames duplicated

2024-05-09 Thread Dennis Mungai
Hello,

Testing the various NVENC wrappers, specifically hevc_nvenc in FFmpeg 7
results in the spurious warning above

Sample command:

ffmpeg -threads:v 1 -hwaccel nvdec -hwaccel_output_format cuda
-init_hw_device cuda=cuda:0 -filter_hw_device cuda -extra_hw_frames 3
-nostdin -ignore_unknown -thread_queue_size 5120 -analyzeduration 2000
-f mpegts -scan_all_pmts 1 -merge_pmt_versions 1 -i "udp://IP:PORT"
-filter_complex
"[0:v]bwdif_cuda,scale_cuda=format=yuv420p[video];movie=/mnt/LOGOS/logoChannel3_%d.png,loop=loop=-1:size=1:start=0,format=yuva420p,hwupload[logo];[video][logo]overlay_cuda=x=0:y=0:repeatlast=1[overlay];[overlay]split=1[s0];[s0]scale_cuda=3840:2160:format=yuv420p[v0];[0:a]channelmap=map=0|1:channel_layout=stereo[a1];[a1]asplit=1[a11]"
-map '[v0]' -fps_mode 1 -c:v hevc_nvenc -no-scenecut 1 -keyint_min 100
-bf:v 3 -b_ref_mode:v each -g:v 100 -r:v 50 -i_qfactor 0.75 -b_qfactor 1.1
-aspect 16:9 -b:v 2500k -minrate 2500k -maxrate 2500k -bufsize 2500k
-profile:v main -preset p3 -tune:v hq -rc:v cbr -cbr:v 1 -gpu:v 0 -tag:v
hvc1 -map '[a11]' -metadata:s:a:0 language= -async 1 -acodec libfdk_aac -ar
48000 -ac 2 -ab 192k -flags -global_header+cgop -f mpegts -mpegts_start_pid
100 -pcr_period 20 -pat_period 0.1
"udp://x.x.x.x:X.x.x.x?pkt_size=1316=0"

Results in:

 [vost#0:0/hevc_nvenc @ 0x55b3a90c1c40] More than 1000 frames
duplicated92.3kbits/s dup=999 drop=0 speed=1.59x

The video output stream is also unplayable, frozen in a single image/frame.

The same command runs perfectly well on ffmpeg 6.x with no spurious
warnings on frame duplication and with perfect playback.

Dennis.

SNMP is still pretty much the de-facto monitoring standard. Going to run
through a demo of this in a week. Looking forward to seeing what it can do.
https://imsva91-ctp.trendmicro.com:443/wis/clicktime/v1/query?url=https%3a%2f%2fwww.selector.ai=E6428FBC-1804-A506-A041-AFF83B7DD506=079c058f437b7c6303d36c6513e5e8848d0c5ac4-fe4d728472928f532fb6e0e8cb07fa811fd8ccd6

For your needs, you should use Zabbix. I think it's going to be supported for a
long time going into the future, it has good integrations with things like
Grafana so you can make your graphs all pretty. The alarming system is good.

It's free, but you might need to go and find someone to build you templates if
you don't want to spend the time doing it yourself. You should collect all your
devices, find the MIB's for them, then in plain language enter what you want to
report from each device. Get the devices on a network where your contractor can
reach them, and have them build the templates for you.

We've done stuff as ghetto as powering an old wrt54g through the alarm contacts
and monitoring its IP address to see when it comes up and goes down. These
days all of our sites have either an Alpha or ICT UPS or DC shelf that has
alarm monitoring inputs.

Yes, there are some older devices that expect you to set them up as an MTA
rather than MUA so they can send unauthenticated SMTP on port 25. That sounds
like a really bad plan to me unless you time travel back to maybe 1999. I
don’t want to be creating SPF and DKIM and DMARC records for a little contact

Some devices can be configured to send an email if a contact closes, but the
way this happens varies between devices.

My problem with integrating this on the the sitemonitor platform has
traditionally been that you need a rule system in order to determine when to
send the email. I.E. what threshold of voltage, and so on. This is obviously
easy in a on/off situation, but not so much in a voltage. Plus you need
additional rules so when the voltage is bouncing between 24.0 and 24.1 and you
have the threshold set at 24.0 you don't get an email every time it flaps to
24.0.All of this was impossible to do on the older hardware just because of
code space limitations.

The Base 3 has the resources to do this, but the firmware has not yet been
completed. There is a rules engine about 3/4 built for the sitemonitor system,
how long until it sees the light of day, I don't know at this point. The
email itself is somewhat easy but I also need to provide some sort of email
server resources for those who don't have an email system which will accept
email from random devices.

Not following how you are going to use SNMP without a monitoring system.

Packetflux Sitemonitor can turn a contact closure into a 1 or 0 OID that an
SNMP monitoring system can check at regular intervals, mine mostly polls every
1 minute. But then you would typically have your NMS send an alert by email or
text message.

I tend to monitor analog parameters like voltage or current, then set trip
points for the NMS to send an informative message. Like UPS input voltage at
the Podunk site has been below the minimum value of 100 V for more than 2
minutes.

Well, first thing to do is discover what command that is being run.
Press capslock k to bring up help mode. Then try the command.
Once you discover the command “Perform long press” in this case, you can assign
it to a keystroke in the voiceover settings or try and discover the default
keystroke.

This is one place where Mac VoiceOver is superior to IOS in that VO+HH lets you
search all VO commands and will list an assigned key for that action.

[Re-adding the list, but I think dev is the wrong list]

QAbstractButton is irrelevant here. Your error message was
QToolButton::checkStateSet() *specifically* wasn't defined. It's not expected to
because it wasn't added until 6.3.

The only explanation I can come up with is that the headers don't match the
library.

make -d showed me that /usr/include/qt5 is still in my path when using
my own built

and the /usr/include/qt5/QtWidgets/qtoolbutton.h contains the
checkStateSet()- but the original git-version does not (as you said)

so im not including Qt6 (what would not have compiled that far) but an
modified Qt5 header combined with my libs

thanks for the hint

RE: Do not update Sonos!

2024-05-07 Thread Dennis Long
Sonos is just like every other company these days. Accessibility we can get to
later. There are few companies who put accessibility at the core of what they
do. Apple is one of the few that does. Sad more companies don’t adopt Apple’s
values.

Thanks for this. I disabled automatic updates in the app store and set my
system to not update automatically. This is probably the most disappointing
accessibility issue I’ve ever faced. I have thousands of dollars invested in
Sonos. I sure hope they take steps to make it right.

The update to Sonos app is a complete sh*t show!
It kind of works with Screen Recognition turned on, but not anywhere as good as
before.
Without Screen Recognition it is useless.
I had my sighted wife look at it and without Screen Recognition, many things
that VoiceOver will speak if you swipe to it, is not visible on the screen.
And, as I think Jonathan Mosen had mentioned, double tapping on the Your System
button does nothing.
And, if my wife touched where it shows Your system button, VoiceOver says
nothing. If I then swipe with one finger, it lands on the Your System Button,
but again, it doesn’t activate.

I will do more exploring with the Screen Recognition on, but unless you want
a totally frustrating experience, don’t update. I updated on my iPad Mini 6
which I seldom use with Sonos. I won’t be touching the update on my phone.

Interesting.

Last time I tried to use the fps filter(s) with NVENC and OneVPL, both of
these platforms misbehaved.
For some reason, both seem to require a hint to the "frame length/duration"
, and omitting -r here and switching to the fps filter with these two
implementations wrecks rate-control.
The only work-around to this in FFmpeg with either NVENC or QSV/OneVPL is
tapping into libplacebo OR qsv_vpp filters respectively.
I'm not sure how these two filters handle A53CC emission with frame-rate
upconversion. Will definitely re-test over the course of the week.

[dev-tech-crypto] NSS 3.100 Release

2024-05-07 Thread 'Dennis Jackson' via dev-tech-crypto@mozilla.org
Dear all,

Network Security Services (NSS) 3.100 was tagged and released on
7th May 2024.

The HG tag is NSS_3_100_RTM. This version of NSS requires NSPR
4.35 or newer.

NSS 3.99 source distributions are available on ftp.mozilla.org
for secure HTTPS download:
<https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/security/nss/releases/NSS_3_99_RTM/src/>

RTM/src/
<https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/security/nss/releases/NSS_3_99_RTM/src/>>

Changes:

 - Bug 1893029 - merge pk11_kyberSlotList into pk11_ecSlotList for faster
Xyber operations.
 - Bug 1893752 - remove ckcapi.
 - Bug 1893162 - avoid a potential PK11GenericObject memory leak.
 - Bug 671060 - Remove incomplete ESDH code.
 - Bug 215997 - Decrypt RSA OAEP encrypted messages.
 - Bug 1887996 - Fix certutil CRLDP URI code.
 - Bug 1890069 - Don't set CKA_DERIVE for CKK_EC_EDWARDS private keys.
 - Bug 676118: Add ability to encrypt and decrypt CMS messages using ECDH.
 - Bug 676100 - Correct Templates for key agreement in smime/cmsasn.c.
 - Bug 1548723 - Moving the decodedCert allocation to NSS.
 - Bug 1885404 - Allow developers to speed up repeated local execution of
NSS tests that depend on certificates.

NSS 3.100 shared libraries are backwards-compatible with all
older NSS 3.x shared libraries. A program linked with older NSS
3.x shared libraries will work with this new version of the
shared libraries without recompiling or relinking. Furthermore,
applications that restrict their use of NSS APIs to the
functions listed in NSS Public Functions will remain compatible
with future versions of the NSS shared libraries.

Bugs discovered should be reported by filing a bug report at
<https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=NSS>

Release notes are available (after a short delay) at
<https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/security/nss/releases/index.html>.

Best,
Dennis

[Development] QToolButton::checkStateSet missing in Linux source build of Qt5.15.13-gpl?

2024-05-07 Thread Dennis Luehring via Development

i've build Qt5.15.13-gpl from source - done that for serveral versions
before without any problem
but for a less UI intensive application (im doing this source builds
only for silencing TSAN false-positives, normally using systems Qt libs)

build instructions i use:

cd ~/qt5_dev
git clone git://code.qt.io/qt/qt5.git
cd qt5
git checkout v5.15.13-lts-lgpl
perl init-repository
cd ..
mkdir qt5-build
cd qt5-build
../qt5/configure -debug -opensource -nomake examples -nomake tests
-sanitize address -skip qtlocation -prefix
~/dev/3rdparty-linux-gcc/qt5.15.13-asan-install
make -j$(nproc)
make install

using that build im getting a linker error that
QToolButton::checkStateSet is not defined

mold: error: undefined symbol: QToolButton::checkStateSet()
>>> referenced by mocs_compilation.cpp
>>>   ../bin/libgui.a(mocs_compilation.cpp.o)

searching for checkStateSet shows that only the widgets lib implements these

but nm shows no definition for QToolButton::checkStateSet in my self
build widgets lib

nm -C libQt5Widgets.so.5.15.13 | grep checkStateSet
005617fe T QAbstractButton::checkStateSet()
00597344 T QCheckBox::checkStateSet()

my systems widgets lib contains the definition?

/usr/lib64> nm -DC libQt5Widgets.so.5.15.13 | grep checkStateSet
0038eb40 T QToolButton::checkStateSet()
00296a80 T QAbstractButton::checkStateSet()
002a8170 T QCheckBox::checkStateSet()

any idea what im doing wrong?

my System:
latest SUSE Tumbleweed gcc 13.2.1, Qt5.15.13 as systems Qt version

[marxmail] We need "Outside Agitators"!

2024-05-07 Thread Dennis Brasky
Pro-Palestine student protesters are being smeared as puppets of shadowy
“outside agitators.” The presence of community members and experienced
activists in the protests is nothing to be ashamed of: we need outside
agitators to build a better world.

King, too, was reviled as an outside agitator as he traveled to the front
lines of the struggle for racial and economic equality. It was a charge he
reflected on in his celebrated “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” composed in
1963, offering words of wisdom that can still guide us.

“I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and states. I
cannot sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in
Birmingham. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” King
mused. “We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a
single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all
indirectly. Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial
‘outside agitator’ idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can
never be considered an outsider anywhere within its
bounds.”

In a matter of days, dozens of Gaza solidarity encampments have sprung up
on over a hundred university campuses across the U.S. It’s the biggest
student movement since the anti-war protests that swept U.S. universities
in the 1960s.

I think this was in "Andy's Investment" episode #231 from season 8. Aunt Bee
gave her friend Louise Spooner's son a dictionary as he was going off to
college in Connecticut with low requirements.

[marxmail] On Tuesday, Biden demonized the protesters as hate groups.

2024-05-03 Thread Dennis Brasky
Here’s the political background to the police raids against antiwar
students on campuses across the country this week, violent crackdowns that
have Joe Biden’s fingerprints all over them: On Tuesday, *Biden demonized
the protesters as hate groups.* On the same day 22 Democratic House members
called for the students at Columbia to be cleared from the campus, this was
followed by Chuck Schumer speaking on the floor of the Senate denouncing
the occupation of Hind Hall as *an act of terrorism*. Then the NYPD did its
vicious nightwork at Columbia and CCNY. *On Wednesday morning, the Biden
White House compared these brave students–from Columbia to UCLA, Indiana to
Texas–to the white power tiki torch thugs at Charlottesville.* On Thursday,
Biden gave a speech that would have condemned the tactics of the Civil
Rights Movement, women’s movement, Native American Rights movement,
anti-Vietnam War movement, Stonewall, anti-apartheid movement, BLM and the
labor movement he claims to venerate (not to mention the Boston Tea Party)
as outside the American tradition of free speech. *Biden is the author of
the most repressive crime laws in the history of a nation whose statutes
are full of repressive crime laws. He hasn’t changed.* In fact, he’s gotten
worse as his brain demyelinates and his grip on power becomes more and more
tenuous.

In contrast to Biden’s reactionary blandishments of the antiwar movement,
here are the words of the most successful progressive leader in the US
today, Shawn Fain, head of the UAW:

*The UAW will never support* the mass arrest or intimidation of those
exercising their right to protest, strike, or speak out against injustice.
Our union has been calling for a ceasefire for six months. This war is
wrong, and this response against students and academic workers, many of
them UAW members, is wrong. We call on the powers that be to release the
students and employees who have been arrested, and if you can’t take the
outcry, stop supporting the war.

Perhaps the UAW will now retract its premature endorsement of Biden?
Unlikely, of course. The endorsement itself probably doesn’t matter much.
Many of the UAW’s rank-and-file will still vote for Trump. The campaign
money might. The endorsement lends Fain’s very clear statement even more
weight. Fain’s statement is not going to change Biden’s mind. *He’s encased
himself in 50 years of pro-Israeli political concrete.* But it helps to
undermine the disgusting narrative put out by the White House and top
Democrats that the students are naive dupes of Hamas, justifying these
brutal crackdowns.

In 1970, Richard Nixon famously made a trip to the Lincoln Memorial to
actually talk with anti-war protesters for more than two hours. Biden
sneers at them, encourages the liberal press to smear them and university
presidents to send in riot squads to clear them off campus…

In reply to a question from FoxNews about the campus protests, White House
press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the Department of Justice, Homeland
Security and the Department of Education will be involved in the
investigations, suggesting that *the Biden administration may be pursuing
federal “hate crime” charges against student protestors**.*

Imagine the reaction from the White House, Congress and the US media if
Putin had used these violent police tactics to suppress anti-Ukraine war
protests on campuses in Russia.

[plasma-browser-integration] [Bug 446119] plasma-browser-integration-host crashes after closing Firefox

I see the same issue.

I updated the system today and I'm on:
Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0
Qt Version: 6.7.0
Kernel Version: 6.5.0-28-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz
Memory: 15,3 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 620
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Product Name: XPS 13 9380

As there is no bug reporting address:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443053
I'm reporting this issue manually. I can't confirm it is actually firefox, but
it looks like it. I have firefox on autostart and I use the save session
feature from kde. Whic results in 2 firefox windows to be started after logging
in, one of them with empty tabs. If I close that one, 10 crash handlers start.

Let's assuming for a moment we could a) get most of the world to use ACME (a
worthy but challenging goal) and b) get them to configure multiple CAs and
receive multiple certificates. We don't need trust expressions to be able to do
quick rotations - because we don't ever want to use the old CA. It's just a
case of swapping to the new one. There's no need for negotiation.

We've already seen a serious problem with cross-signing happen, where
Cloudflare is planning to stop using Lets Encrypt. That's because the
cross-signed cert that let Lets Encrypt work with old Android devices
expired, with no replacement. Having websites present one chain
creates a lot of thorny tradeoffs. Either you present a cross-signed
certificate, or a few, and take the bandwidth hit, or you don't and
suffer a compatibility hit. This was manageable when signatures were
small. When they get chonky it will be much less fun.
There's a huge and unexplored design space here that does not require
trust negotiation. I don't claim any of these ideas are optimal:

 * Techniques like abridged certs + cross signs let you mitigate any
bandwidth impact for recent-ish clients. Given the older clients are
going to be missing a lot of performance improvements anyway, this
   doesn't seem unacceptable.
 * Root Programs could introduce specific root certs they operate for
the sole purpose of cross-signing new CAs to speed up their adoption.
 * Clients could have a TLS flag 'My Root Store is very old' which is
set when X years without a root store update have passed.
Alternatively, they advertise an explicit age for their root store
or the TLS Flag 'My Root Store was updated in the past year'.
 * I think there may also be some interesting ways to improve Merkle
Tree Certs to support these use cases without needing trust
negotiation but that'll have to wait for another thread.

As far as I'm aware there is no need for cooperation in creating a
cross-signed intermediate: it's a certificate with a public key and
just a different signer. So Country X could force its sites to include
that cross-signed intermediate in the grab bag handed to browsers, and
everything would work as now. Browsers have to tolerate all sorts of
slop there anyway. I think the sharper concern is that you could block
traffic without the cert included.

Re: [TLS] WG Adoption for TLS Trust Expressions

2024-04-30 Thread Dennis Jackson
nable acts that a CA might be
incentivised to do is provision a certificate chain from a domestic
government operated CA alongside the intended one. Helpfully bypassing
the need to convince website operators to use them.

This 3rd problem is exactly what I've been highlighting. If you're
trying to build a domestic government controlled PKI, you run into a
huge adoption challenge:

 * No website wants to change to use your government controlled PKI,
because the user's don't support it and the rest of the world won't
ever have it, so the site is effectively blocked.
 * There's no legitimate reason for a user to want to install the
government controlled root, because there's no sites that are using.

This draft very neatly solves that challenge. You can provision a large
number of sites with the government cert chain with little work. You
don't even need consent if you use the CA method as you described. Those
sites remain available to both local and international visitors so they
don't really mind unless they're the kind of site with strong opinions
about internet privacy. You can start to push your domestic users onto
using your domestic root store with the argument that a) its locally
supervised so its great and b) loads of local sites already support it.
Later, you have the latitude to start misbehaving or blocking traffic
that doesn't advertise your root store.

Reading between the lines, you seem like a person who would not
ordinarily be in favour of trusting CAs with TLS configuration
decisions, or making it easier to spin up a CA and so increasing the
number of trusted CAs in the world, or having a fragmented PKI along
national borders. This draft directly enables all three and you've yet
to identify an feature that Trust Expressions actually delivers that
isn't already available through simpler, already deployed, means.

Why was the Racor vacuum gauge reading high? Okay, the answer. Doh!

Not a plugged pickup screen/tube.
Not a collapsed/delaminated supply hose.
Not a wonky check valve (kinda).
The cause? Owner neglect/ignorance/laziness.

21 years of not checking the bowl for water. The water separating filter was
doing its job. Enough water had accumulated so that the ball check valve was
starting to close. This ball sinks in diesel but floats in water. It is
supposed to shut off when the water gets too high. It was doing its job. The
boat owner wasn’t doing his.

Removed the Racor. Emptied the water and completely cleaned the filter. Gauge
now reads in the white.

I don't believe my hypothetical private extension would need to be
adopted by any servers, just clients. And due to power laws, adoption
by one or two clients would provide visibility into a substantial
section of Internet traffic.
This is just an observation that unilateral actions taken by major
players can screw things up for many people. It's true, but it has
little bearing on what we're weighing up here.

Can you expand on how this draft enables the more rapid distrust
of failed CAs?

This is described in more detail in section 9.1 of the draft.
Currently we have the problem that, as long as any older RP relies on
a given root, subscribers have to keep using it, which means newer RPs
have to keep trusting it.

This doesn't apply in case we're distrusting a CA because it's failed.
In 9.1 we're rotating keys. As I laid out in my initial mail, we can
already sign the new root with the old root to enable rotation. There's
no size impact to up-to-date clients using intermediate suppression or
abridged certs.

I'm confused by this remark. Are there clients which would
tolerate a certificate if only it had a longer lifetime? Is there
any circumstance in which you would have both a long-life and
short-life certificate available, and you would prefer to serve
the long-life cert?

Yes, especially when you push to shorter and shorter lifetimes (say,
1 day, 1 hour), you start to have the issue that not all clients will
have sufficiently accurate clocks to verify them. Clients with
accurate clocks can advertise support for a root that issues
short-lived certs while clients that don't will not advertise support
for this root, and with TE we can support both.

Firefox already supports Delegated Credentials for exactly this use case
and which addresses clock skew, but DCs have never seen much use as far
as I know. In any case, this is an already solved problem.

deploying this kind of private extension. You'd need to convince a

Can you expand on how this draft enables the more rapid distrust of
failed CAs?

The roadblock to faster distrust has always been how quickly subscribers
of the failed CA are able to migrate. ACME makes this process much
easier, but still requires server operators to reconfigure their ACME
clients. This draft doesn't improve that situation.

An effective technique long-used by Microsoft and Mozilla when
distrusting CAs is to ship a distrust-certs-issued-after signal rather
than an immediate distrust of all issued certificates. This allows
server operators to gradually migrate in line with their usual schedule
of certificate renewals rather than forcing a flag day on the world. I
understand that at least one further major root program is looking at
supporting the same feature.

by allowing clients to signal support for short-lived certificates, etc.
I'm confused by this remark. Are there clients which would tolerate a
certificate if only it had a longer lifetime? Is there any circumstance

Re: [TLS] WG Adoption for TLS Trust Expressions

2024-04-29 Thread Dennis Jackson
When this work was presented at IETF 118 in November, several
participants (including myself, Stephen Farrell and Nicola Tuveri) came
to the mic to highlight that this draft's mechanism comes with a serious
potential for abuse by governments (meeting minutes
).

Although the authors acknowledged the issue in the meeting, no changes
have been made since to either address the problem or document it as an
accepted risk. I think its critical one of the two happens before this
document is considered for adoption.

Below is a brief recap of the unaddressed issue raised at 118 and some
thoughts on next steps:

Some governments (including, but not limited to Russia
,
Kazakhstan
,
Mauritius
)
have previously established national root CAs in order to enable mass
surveillance and censorship of their residents' web traffic. This
requires trying to force residents to install these root CAs or adopt
locally developed browsers which have them prepackaged. This is widely
regarded as a bad thing (RFC 7258
).

Thankfully these efforts have largely failed because these national CAs
have no legitimate adoption or use cases. Very few website operators
would voluntarily use certificates from a national root CA when it means
shutting out the rest of the world (who obviously do not trust that root
CA) and even getting adoption within the country is very difficult since
adopting sites are broken for residents without the national root cert.

However, this draft provides a ready-made solution to this adoption
problem: websites can be forced to adopt the national CA in addition to,
rather than replacing, their globally trusted cert. This policy can even
be justified in terms of security from the perspective of the
government, since the national CA is under domestic supervision (see
https://last-chance-for-eidas.org). This enables a gradual roll out by
the government who can require sites to start deploying certs from the
national CA in parallel with their existing certificates without any
risk of breakage either locally or abroad, solving their adoption problem.

Conveniently, post-adoption governments can also see what fraction of
their residents' web traffic is using their national CA via the
unencrypted trust expressions extension, which can inform their
decisions about whether to block connections which don't indicate
support for their national CA and as well advertising which connections
they can intercept (using existing methods like mis-issued certs, key
escrow) without causing a certificate error. This approach also scales
so multiple countries can deploy national CAs with each being able to
surveil their own residents but not each others.

Although this may feel like a quite distant consequence of enabling
trust negotiation in TLS, the on-ramp is straightforward:

 * Support for trust negotiation gets shipped in browsers and servers
   for ostensibly good reasons.
 * A large country or federation pushes for recognition of their
domestic trust regime as a distinct trust store which browsers must
advertise. Browsers agree because the relevant market is too big to
   leave.
 * Other countries push for the same recognition now that the dam is
   breached.
 * Time passes and various local cottage industries of domestic CAs are
encouraged out of national interest and government enabled rent
   seeking.
 * One or more countries start either withholding certificates for
undesirable sites, blocking connections which don't use their trust
store, requiring key escrow to enable interception, etc etc.

Besides the above issue which merits some considered discussion, I would
also suggest fleshing out the use cases & problems that this draft is
trying to solve.

Firstly because its not clear why simpler solutions don't suffice. For
example, backwards compatible root key rotation could solved by signing
the new root with the old root, then using existing drafts like
intermediate suppression or abridged certs to eliminate the overhead of
both certs for up to date clients. This would largely eliminate the
problems raised around support for old devices.

Secondly the current proposal requires a fairly substantial amount of
coordination between server operators, ACME vendors, CAs, browsers and
browser providers and its unclear whether there are enough incentives in
place to actually see the folk deploy the technology in an effective
way. Sketching out a couple of key deployment scenarios and what
fraction of each population would need to

I have to disagree, Earl. I guess you’re blessed, or maybe you’re running an
iPhone 15? My settings on an iPhone 7 Plus for notifications are the same as
for my XR. But I can read articles using my 7+, older phone and they just read.
With the 10 R, it’s awful. An incoming notification even if it doesn’t talk, I
hear the ding, and then the reading stops. I’ve posted about this before, even
without notifications coming in. You can invoke reader mode or not. Sometimes
reader mode helps. But mostly it’s not helping. There is a huge problem and I
have reported it to no avail. Why does my old 7+ which is stuck back on I think
it’s iOS 15 I don’t know. Why does that work to read through articles but the
newer iOS doesn’t? So I have to disagree with you. Something else is happening
here.

[marxmail] Are Netanyahu & Co. about to face Arrest Warrants from the ICC for Gaza War Crimes?

2024-04-28 Thread Dennis Brasky
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu

is
deeply worried that the International Criminal Court in the Hague may be on
the verge of issuing arrest warrants for him along with Defense Minister
Yoav Gallant and Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy, according to the Israeli
press, including Israeli Channel 13.

The ICC is chartered by the Rome Statute, which came into effect in 2002,
to which 124 countries are signatories. Although Israel is not a signatory,
the State of Palestine, a non-member observer state at the United Nations,
has signed. Therefore, the ICC has jurisdiction over war crimes committed
in Gaza and the West Bank, of which the Israeli government has committed a
great number. Hamas, of course, is also guilty of a series of war crimes,
which the ICC is also deliberating.

Subject: [AFMUG] sale bulk used Mikrotik swtiches

We are working on pulling out Mikrotik switches from the network and looking
for vendors to buy the used switches. I have tried SWG and they went silent on
emails so I am looking for another vendor. All hardware is located in ATL but
can bulk ship.

We have almost all models of crs1xx, crs2xx, crs3xx with a mix of poe and non
poe

Example we have close to 100x CRS328

Does that URL look correct? If not see lines 67-95 at
https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mailman-coders/mailman/2.1/view/head:/Mailman/Defaults.py.in

Hi Mark,

It looks right to me. This is all I see:

192.168.0.196 - - [24/Apr/2024:11:30:03 -0400] "GET
/mailman/admindb/cufsalumni HTTP/1.1" 200 2091

/mailman/admindb/cufsalumni HTTP/1.1" 200 6964

Your POST gets a 200 status. If it doesn't update it's most likely
because the URL is http and is being redirected to https and losing
the POST data. See https://wiki.list.org/x/4030602 - you need to
ensure the scheme in DEFAULT_URL_PATTERN is https, not http.

Although that said, I don't know why that would cause a timeout.

Again, look at the source of the admindb page in your web browser.
Look for

```
```
If the scheme is http, the above applies and you need to set
```
DEFAULT_URL_PATTERN = 'https://%s/mailman/'
```
in mm_cfg.py

Hi Mark,

I figured out the issue and the URL is basically correct. The bottom
line is that an AT router is blocking my IP for some reason. How to
fix it is another problem as I don't expect AT to do anything about
it. Not sure when this started.

Anyway, here is the issue. I don't have a static IP address so I am
using dyndns-ip.com. Most of the links on the admin page uses just
'dap002' as the URL host which uses only the LAN. However, the submit
and a couple of other links use dyndns-ip.com in the URL which sends it
out over the WAN. I never had a problem with that until now. It has been
eons since I've configured mailman so I've pretty much forgotten
what/how I did it. I guess for the admin pages only, I need to make all
the links just dap002 since I only access them on the LAN. The public
pages still need to use dyndns-ip.com in the URL. Is there a way to do that?

Even if AT fixes the problem it would still be better if all the admin
stuff is done only on the LAN.

Thanks.

Re: [EVDL] Import EV [Adding a FM radio to a Tesla.]

2024-04-26 Thread WILLIAM DENNIS Owner via EV
Here's some text from the NHTSA website. Don't know if anyone has ever done
this, but importing an EV from China for its electrical parts might be
possible, with some arduous work:

A disassembled vehicle that is shipped without an engine and transmission is
treated for importation purposes not as a motor vehicle, but instead as an
assemblage of motor vehicle equipment items. Such an assemblage can lawfully be
imported into the U.S., provided any equipment included in the assemblage that
is subject to FMVSS, but was not originally manufactured to comply with that
FMVSS or was not so certified by its original manufacturer, is removed from the
assemblage prior to entry into the U.S. Equipment items that are subject to the
FMVSS include tires, rims, brake hoses, brake fluid, seat belt assemblies,
glazing materials, and lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.

There may be other loopholes as well.

I bought my ComutaVan as scrap from a junkyard. I got it inspected and
re-titled it as an "assembled electric vehicle". It was fully roadworthy; not
an NEV. The only issue the inspector had was the regulation that it "must have
an exhaust system". I satisfied him by bolting a (useless) tailpipe onto it.

Another way is to import it as scrap or parts, and assemble it yourself.
Several companies have done this. Zap, Wemo, and Zenn seem to have gone this
route. There is a company near me in Minnesota that brought in some
disassembled Russian cars, re-assembled, and sold them. Another is currently
bringing in Chinese EVs the same way (though I think they are selling them as
NEVs).Then some are simply driven in from Mexico or Canada, and then
re-registered in the US (perhaps by careless DMV clerks. There may also be a
loophole if you are moving into the US and want to bring your car. Didn't
Mercedes have a program where they let you buy one in Europe and bring it with
you back to the US?

Stus-List Re: Racor 500MA question

2024-04-26 Thread Dennis C. via CnC-List
When the engine is not running, vacuum still sometimes shows. When I
remove the gauge, it should drop to zero. It's on my list to verify that.

I plan to spend a bit of time investigating this.

Stus-List Racor 500MA question

2024-04-26 Thread Dennis C. via CnC-List
Touche' has a Racor 500MA with the Racor vacuum gauge in place of the
T-handle. See:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Pe9zcl-E0aQRl-Cu9cW8VqpeLEo9Gek3/view?usp=sharing

During a cruise to the Mississippi Coast last week, the needle sneaked into
the red. It's done this before. Bleeding it by lifting the little rubber
seal on top will reset it to the white zone. It gradually sneaks back into
the red zone. I don't believe the element is becoming blinded.

However, I decided to change the element anyway after only 50 hours. The
element looked very clean.

The gauge is still behaving the same with the brand new element.

I have no reason to suspect pluggage in the pickup tube. Touche's fuel has
always been very, very clean. But I'll check it anyway.

Internet research has pointed me towards the ball check valve in the
Racor. Here's a schematic:

https://www.maesco.com/products/racor/r_tbn_intro/r_tbn_assm500ma/r_tbn_assm500ma.html

My question - has any lister taken a 500MA apart and examined the check
valve? If so, what did you find?

I will be on the boat next week exploring the fuel system and all the usual
suspect causes upstream of the Racor.
