Your NIC requires firmware files which are available from:

http://firmware.openbsd.org/firmware/

It's probably easiest to complete the install without setting it up, then
install the firmware and configure the wireless adaptor manually afterwards.

The iwn(4), and fw_update(1) manual pages have more relevant information.

1. Is it (missing firmware) intentional or is it a bug to be fixed?

2. It informs that it cannot find formware - error 2... then it asks for
ESSID and a WPA passphrase for that interface..? I'm not sure if I
understand that idea...

3. Is there or isn't there any difference between installation with and
without working network connection?

4. Currently I have only Linux installed. I'm wondering what is the
easiest way of updating the install USB flash drive.

Best regards,
Marek

7.0 install from install70.img no firmware for wifi (iwn-5000)

I'm trying to install OpenBSD 7.0 from a USB flash drive using
install70.img. One of the very first steps is configuring the network
connection. I have a quite old ThinkPad X200s with a pupular wifi NIC
(according to Linux lspci command):

Intel Corporation Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300.

After I set up the ESSID and WPA-PSK the following message is displayed:

iwn0: could not read firmware iwn-5000 (error 2)

and setting up the interface fails. AFAIK a long long time ago around
4.x (the last time I had some experience with OpenBSD) there was such a
problem.but it the subsequent releases it's been fixed..? I'd really
appreciate some help with solving the problem,

thank you,

best regards,
MArek
