I can confirm it. Our family first visited Andorra in 1982 just after the floods had wreaked havoc and we camped at the foot of the valley and woke with a smattering of snow on our trailer tent in mid April. This melted within minutes as the sun cleared the valley sides. Dad and mum went shopping and came up with many bargains including a full SLR 35mm camera for 35 which was around half the price of that item in the UK. I guess it would cost a little more now but still be a great price. It was not junk. Dad still has it, working fine, to this day. Every time we are close, we visit, certain of bargains. Incidentally, we neither smoke nor drink heavily so we do not come for that kind of thing. Cigarettes, alcohol, perfumes, jewellery, watches - luxury goods in general and anything which is heavily taxed in other countries. There is a modest duty on imports to the country but most things are cheaper in Andorra as there's no sales tax. Remember, however, that as Andorra is not an EU country the lower Customs allowance applies when you bring the goods out. Note also that the Spanish customs at la Farga de Moles search every car coming out. The French at Pas de la Casa make spot checks so you take your chance if you try to drive through without declaring. :-) -- E. J. There was a useful amount of snow in Andorra at the end of last week and more forecast for today in the mountains though here[1] it is cloudless and sunny today but with a strong wind. For anyone hoping to ski at Easter I would reckon there's a good chance that the Andorran centres are still open. The French centres in the eastern Pyrenees are now all closed except les Angles.
