Re: [OSL | CCIE_RS] NTP issues...

2009-12-16 Thread Bauke Dzavhale
Hi Team...Thanks for ALL the contributions.

1- Joe, based on your note about old versus new IOS versions, can I assume to
be correct to  configure #ntp trusted-key key in both client and server
side just to be safe...as we do with clockrate command?

2- On your point 2-- below, you mentioned that ntp authenticate is always
required. So should I assume this command is missing in LAB 2- Vol 2, R9 R2 -
Tasks 6-1  page 101 DSG  (se my initial posting below).

Thanks Regards

Here is the skinny,

1 -- ntp trusted-key key  You NEED this on the client for sure.  In OLD IOS
versions you did NOT need it on the server end.  In the most recent versions
according to my testing it appears you do
2 -- ntp authenticate You NEED this on both ends
3 -- ntp server x.x.x.x You obviously NEED this on the client to tell it who
the server is.  Specifying the source of the packets is an optional parameter.

Yes you can. You can get power units / strips that are reachable via internet.
I think apc has one

I am training a carrier pigeon for this task but this has proven to be more

2009-12-16 Thread Marko Milivojevic
OK, I have just taken a look at this and here's the deal.

Nowhere in the lab requirements (diagrams, tables and tasks) is there a
requirement for specific IPv6 node address. As long as you fulfil other
requirements for that task, you can use any address.

Diagrams show .X, which, as you know, is not the valid last octet for
IPv6 address.

So, no change - the solution is correct! :-).

Note: When taking the lab - unless something is EXPLICITLY not allowed, you
can do it. Here, we do not EXPLICITLY require certain address, so... you can
use any you like.
