like... wow, fast.
But, after activate option on an other SHR-U there where no improvements
to feel. therefore i reflashed my own with the newest image (ca.
6.9.2008) and update it to current state of shr-u. the effect is, when i
activate no_new_fair_sleepers, nothing. i feel no more improvements.
some tests with the loadspeed of shr-settings shows me, there are no
load speed improvements with or without this option.

what the fault here? no idear where to search.

secondary i found that /proc/sys/kernel/sched_features. when cat this i
get 24190 (no_new_fair_sleepers) and 24191 (new_fair_sleepers). does it
make sense to set this file to activate the no_new_fair_sleepers instead
using the (additional) mounted debugfs?

Could you do a battery life test with the NO_NEW_FAIR_SLEEPERS option enabled?

FSO Compiled

2009-05-02 Thread carcinoma
Hi Community,

i have a Question about FSO.

Is it planned to install a precompiled version of the framework?
I think there would be a better performance when my Neo doesn't need
to compile it by himself every start. And are there any compilations
needed during runtime?

I think it's clear what i mean: compilation = more performance?

Re: Navit speech dispatcher and ß

2008-12-31 Thread carcinoma
Hi,

i had solved this, by usind the speech dispatcher directly (not via spd-say)
and does add export LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 to the speech-dispatcher
start script to localize spd for germany. and in this mode
the ß is no problem anymore. may be this would also work for the cmd line
version. so, try it.

  Hi,

does anybody know how to configure speech dispatcher.
I use it the following way:
  spd-say -l de '%s'

The only problem I have is that it cannot say the german letter ß
it always pronounces it EsZett instead of s

In Navit that's a big problem because the german word for street is
  Straße

  Any idea?

maybe this works as a quick and dirty hack:
 (sed should be installed)

 echo '%s' | sed 's/ß/ss/' | spd-say -l de

 OR

 spd-say -l de '`echo '%s' | sed 's/ß/ss/'`'

You may consider to report this as a bug to the specific project.

Navit OSM Map Convert

2008-08-14 Thread carcinoma
Hi Community,

i'm in progres to convert the OSM Map of Berlin into an
Navit Binary map File.

Does anyone have some experiences with that?

The Map i created and loaded into navit looks more like a fuzzy map.
I followed the instructions on the wiki. used the python script for downloading
and the osm2navit tool for convert.

What's wrong here?

The maps I have created have looked OK. Did you convert the maps on
the FR or on a desktop? It seems to be necessary to use the same
version of osm2navit as navit itself.

It the convert was on the fr. use osm2navit from the package.

otherwise i used the planet.osm sliced part of berlin from
http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/
and it works. but what are the differences between the downloaded maps of the
python dlOSM script and the maps from gefabrik?

I found that the maps in navit don't look very good when zoomed out -
does it look better when you zoom in?

Where are the Om2008.8 Updates?

2008-08-12 Thread carcinoma
Hello,

i have the Om2008.8 on my device.

But over the Insteller Update function never recieved any updateable Packages,
also over the
opkg manual update upgrade (i pushed nameserver to /etc/resolv.conf) .

So, there ist a problem with the battery charge level (it only shows the
blizzard) and i updated the
kenerl from daly buildhost and this will be fixed. now there is no ethernet
over usb possible.
i think the modules does not match the kernel (or something like that). now i
ask: where can i find
the updates for om 2008.8 and the matching new kernel. will there be new Images
for kernel and
rootfs?

please help me..

 Hi (nice name :)

I'm not happy about writing this Mail, but i think there is not better
 place.

Does anyone received his Freerunner from Pulsters?

I'm waiting 1 1/2week, since Pulster received the Freerunners from the
 Fab (was 25.08.2008).

Pulster is receiving stock of Phone. The problem is that there was a
very big ammount of request, and Openmoko factory need time to produce
 all the FR.

For example today I read that Openmoko is giving all Openmoko that is
able to produce to their distributor (like Pulster, Trisoft) giving
priority to them respect to his shop.

But every day which passes without receiving, i think, what does this
 man do, while
he should pack the FR's and send it to its owner. I don't trust him
 anymore. At the beginning
of last week, he mailed The Freerunners comes at the week. Nothing.
This week they will be send monday. Nothing (no track id or mail reladed to
 the sending process).

I don't think he is doing nothing all the day. The request was bigger
than prevented and so the only thing we can do is only to wait.

  So what should i do?
Today I'm waiting to long. Looking to the process at the wiki,
mailinglist and so on will make me more unhappy.

!!! Pulster when does you send me my Freerunner? !!!

I think when I had the possibility.

Ps. I think there is a bit of lack of communication between Pulster /
Openmoko and all the customers, but I am sure they are tring to do all
is possible to solve all the problems.

Network for different locations

2008-08-02 Thread carcinoma
Hi community,

is there any applicaion to manage the different network
specifications on different locations?

For example I'm @ home with wifi, there will be a special configuration,
also when i plug in the usb. Then the different network config
@ work. When i'm there, i want automaticaly change or apply
the config related to the location an/or to the type of connaction.
(it would be more nice to switch via gps data, but first...)

to know: i don't have a neo (hope monday or little later).
this question is generaly. i couldn't find something like
this on the angstom distribution on my palm tx.
