[datameet] Re: Downloading Survey of India topos (Open Series)

2021-08-18 Thread Naveen Francis
Hello Sharad,

SOI nakshe is replaced with new web.
https://onlinemaps.surveyofindia.gov.in/Home.aspx

Earlier to obtain a map from SOI, user had to register through the Aadhar
card followed by old business rules and procedures like manual filling of
forms and uploading, licensing agreement with user and approved by SOI.
Over all the process was time consuming and difficult for users.

Q48731903 Noklak District in India, Nagaland New district

 January 20, 2021.
Q61746013 Narayanapet District of Telangana, India There seem to be a
duplicate Narayanpet district (Q85787759); but Q61746013 was created

the rest remained part of "Karbi Anglong". There is no "East Karbi

Re: [datameet] Policy alert - NDAP National Data & Analytics Platform

2019-02-13 Thread Naveen Francis

Hello,

When there already is a data.gov.in initiative, why has NITI Aayog decided
to embark on the NDAP project? How exactly will NDAP be different?

Data.gov.in is a very good initiative but when it comes to datasets, there
are a lot of ministries that put the data there (data.gov.in) and it is
done by choice. But they also put a lot more information on their
(minstry’s) own websites. Some of them have put the data there
(data.gov.in) but there is no compulsion to put data there. Some of the
datasets have been put there for two or three years and discontinued now.
We are picking data directly from the ministry’s website — that will be our
primary source — and convert them and standardise the format. Also, there
are a lot of data on state government websites that are not captured at
all, and we will be having data from there also.

[datameet] State Highway information

2018-11-04 Thread Naveen Francis
Hello,

OSM Wiki has info of 20 state/UT's state highway information.
We don't have information about 14 state/UT's state highway.
Delhi and Lakshadweep don't have state highways.

If anyone can help in searching state highway list it will be helpful.

It would be better to ask SOI to appoint Chief Data Officer in data.gov.in.

We need admin boundaries and political boundaries too in the proper
license, which are very insensitive.

   1.

   Admin Boundaries:- Districts,Taluk, Village
   2.

Political Boundaries:- Lokshaba Constituency, Assembly Constituency,

Otherwise, we continue to scarp the websites.

[datameet] Re: Road accidents in India

2018-10-11 Thread Naveen Francis
Hey Harsh,

>From Road Accidents in India - 2017
<http://morth.nic.in/showfile.asp?lid=3369>

Improving the Road Accident Data Base

The Expert Committee set up by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways in
November, 2016 had recommended a uniform road accident Recording format to
be adopted by the Police in all the States and UTs and a set of
corresponding annual road accident data Reporting format (18 Forms) in
which States/UTs would furnish data to the Ministry. The Ministry has
accepted the recommendations of the Committee and all the States and UTs
have adopted the revised Road Accident Recording Format and furnished the
annual road accident data in the new Recording formats w.e.f. calendar year
2017.
The initiatives taken by the MoRTH, to integrate the road accident
Recording format with that of Inter Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS)
of Ministry of Home Affairs, have moved forward. All the 55 fields of road
accident Recording format prescribed by MoRTH have been incorporated in
ICJS of MHA. The MHA has developed software which would be accessible to
all police stations. This system is being put into operation in a phased
manner starting from April, 2018.

Re: [datameet] Looking for public toilet location data for our app

2018-09-23 Thread Naveen Francis
Hi Gagan,

You can think of contributing to OSM with public toilet location data.

Wheelmap (wheelmap.org) is a map for wheelchair accessible locations.

It gives the option for the osm user to add data and if anonymous visitors
contribute to wheelmap it is added by "wheelmap_visitor"

https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/wheelmap_visitor

osm wiki :- https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Wheelmap

Your best best bet is to approach the Govt, and I can imagine them
wanting the same thing as what you are looking for. Welcome to the land

Hi Justin,

Bhunaksha (Indian Cadastral Mapping Solution) is the solution that provided
by central govt for state govt.
Some states are running this.

http://nlrmp.nic.in/faces/rptPhysicalHome/rptStateRoRonWebDetail.xhtml?id=./../master/physical.xhtml
http://nlrmp.nic.in/nlrmpmap/nlrmpmap.html [looks like down]

NCOG (https://ncog.gov.in/) is what central govt is now using for tracking
projects.
They have taluk and village layer.

Subject: [Wikimediaindia-l] New portal on Wikidata: Wikidata:WikiProject
India
To: Wikimedia India Community list ,
"Discussion list for the Wikidata project."

Dear Wikimedians,

As the month long country-wide Wikidata Training Tour by Asaf Bartov [*1]
is in progress through several communities and cities within India, the
term 'Wikidata' has started rolling out as a new technology buzzword among
Indian communities and media.
Choosing the occasion as most befitting, some of us have opened up a new
WikiProject portal on the Wikidata site, named WikiProject India.

The page link is https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_India.

This WikiProject is to coordinate the efforts to create, enhance and
populate the coverage of topics related to India including her history,
geography, culture, society, people, infrastructure, education,
demographics and anything related between India and other fields such as
science, technology, arts, entertainment etc.

For now, an indicative list of topics of immediate interest are mentioned
in the homepage. As the project grow up and get better shape, we can expand
the scope of the project both vertically and horizontally.

A query library demonstrating some data drilling methods and samples is
also available there. Together, we can also build up this library to its
best form and beauty.

An inspiring model to this venture was WikiProject Armenia (
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_Armenia), which began
around a year ago. We may fork and develop upon some of the work show-cased
there, including the model queries.
(Building new queries based upon these are quite easy even for a beginner!)

I invite all of you too visit the project homepage.
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_India

Are you interested to be among the pioneers of this project?
Do you want to be part of a team that will build up a great national
database that will eventually help at least one fifth of the world
population in so many ways that we can not even predict now?

If you do, if you are interested in editing and contributing to Wikidata,
then please sign up and join the project.

More questions and suggestions are welcome at the project's talk pages.

Thanks and regards,

User:Viswaprabha
