 Look for Intel's banner in the Browsing Lounge (AKA Room 238, the 2nd floor

 Drawings take place at 13:15 on Tuesday and Thursday. You need to be
 present during the drawing to win.

Would it be possible for you to create a Video RSS[1] compatible with

I am half-wondering if such a publishing functionality would make

What can be done in any case is to publish updates to planet.d.o -

[Debconf-discuss] Ad-hoc hacking @ 13:30 - improve Debian on Google's cloud

2014-08-26 Thread Jimmy Kaplowitz
Hi,

At 1:30pm today (Tuesday) in room 329, please join my colleague Eric Johnson
and me to hack on the Debian support for Google's cloud. Useful things you can
do:

* Help us package our tools or the several dependencies (all are DFSG-free)
* Try building Debian images for GCE (it's easy!) and see if you might want to
  do this for future images officially shipped to customers
* Talk to us to try our cloud for free and get a feel for it
* Ask us questions or give us feedback

Hope to see you there! If you can't make it, find us any time this week. We
also have a session Friday at 14:30 to summarize and discuss this effort.

If you would like to do a keysigning with me, I'll take a photo of your

cross-check ID documents with you.

Maybe others could do something similar.

[Debconf-discuss] Please Be Courteous And Respectful Of Our Hosts

2014-08-26 Thread Patty Langasek
Hello, everyone!

I'm glad DebConf14 is off to a great start and is going so well!

I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone to please be courteous and
respectful of our hosts and neighbors. Our hosts at Portland State
University have gone above and beyond in making sure we are comfortable and
the conference can be an overwhelming success. Please bear in mind, though,
that (unfortunately) Oregon laws restrict our enjoyment of some adult
beverages, and thus to comply, we are restricted to alcohol consumption in
our dorm or hotel rooms (or at pubs/bars/restaurants/private parties, etc.).
Mark, our host at Broadway and Ondine, was very accommodating in getting us
a night hacklab setup, and we very much don't want to repay his kindness by
getting him in trouble with campus security and Portland police.

I have also been told that the cheese and wine party was a successfully fun
evening (as always!). Thank you to everyone who made that happen, and a big
thank you to our hosts at Puppet Labs for sharing their facility with us for
the evening.

Please remember to be respectful of all of our hosts. We have a history of
leaving venues better than when we arrived at them, and impressing everyone
with how awesome and courteous Debian Developers are in general.

Thank you to everyone who has helped thus far, and thank you to those who
will help in the near future as well!

Patty

[Debconf-discuss] DebConf14 Assassins Game is on!

2014-08-26 Thread Felipe Augusto van de Wiel (faw)
Hello DebConf 14 attendees,

Assassins Game happened during DC6, DC7, DC8, DC9, DC12 and DC13,
and we are keeping the tradition alive during DC14.

What is the game? The best way to explain it is pointing you to
the dedicated wiki page:

  http://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf14/Assassins

Despite the name, no violence, no hate. Just fun!

If you clicked on Participate in Assassins game checkbox in your
personal page on the Conference Management System and checked-in
DebConf14 Front Desk before Monday, August 25th 12h00m (PDT), you
are in. If you don't please, read the instruction in the link
above to know how to join the game.

The game just started, at 15h00m PDT (Pacific Time Zone).

Again, everything you need should be explained in
  https://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf14/Assassins

Your target was sent to your email address (same one you used to
register on DebConf14 Conference Management System). If you didn't
got an email, please contact assass...@debconf.org

You will also use assass...@debconf.org to report that you ghostified
your target... or to report that you've been ghostified.

You will get a new target as soon as the ghostification is confirmed,
this might take a couple of hours.

This is all you need to know... for now.

All further questions should go to assass...@debconf.org, or ping
faw on IRC, or (even safer) fine me somewhere in Real Life (tm).

Happy ghostification!

I still want to climb too. Gotta go sweat off the drinking //sometime//.

I'm still on for climbing this evening.

Great, see you all at Front Desk after talks then. :)

[Debconf-discuss] Bike trip?

2014-08-26 Thread Gunnar Wolf
Some DebConfers enjoy riding a bike. It would be cool to have a
cycling session; probably, a good moment to schedule it would be
Friday or Saturday (29 or 30) between 17:00 and 19:00.

Allison kindly pointed me to the Bike Gallery, which rents bikes. The
price is at US$35 for 4 hours.

Who would be interested in joining the trip?

We would be thankful if we had a local among us, that could probably
have a good idea of best sightseeing and routes (and legal cycling
customs!).

So, please note your names on the Wiki¹. If we reach enough mass, I
will try to coordinate on specific time and call the store to check
availability.

Re: [Debconf-discuss] lunch for day trip?

 I am not signed up (not registered) for food from PSU's cafeteria for
 DC14. I'm assuming that I need to bring my own bag lunch for the day
 trip. Is that correct?

We are bringing enough lunches for everyone attending the day trip. If you
have any special dietary needs that are not documented in summit, you may
want to bring your own lunch anyway, but you don't have to worry about there
not being food.

Count me in :) I also wanted to point out that the PSU bike hub (on the
corner of Harrison and 6th, two blocks away from the venue) seems to
have bikes for rent as well, and for a better price:

[Debconf-discuss] Travel backgammon board

2014-08-26 Thread Russ Allbery
I won't be able to make it to the day trip tomorrow (a friend is coming
down from Seattle and we're going to spend the day at Powell's), but I
brought a travel backgammon board with me and I know there was some
interest from folks in playing backgammon.

I left the board with the front desk, and anyone who would like to bring
it along on the day trip tomorrow can pick it up from there. The front
desk will be closing this evening at about 20:00 or 20:30, and will not be
open tomorrow, so please stop by and pick it up before then if you're
interested in bringing it with you tomorrow, or at least reply to this
message and see if someone can bring it to you tomorrow.

Feel free to hang on to it as long as you're using it, and just drop it
off at the front desk and send me a note when you're done with it (or give
it to me in person if you see me, but doing this through the front desk is
less hit or miss).

[Debconf-discuss] DayTrip Itinerary and Details

2014-08-26 Thread Patty Langasek
Hello, everyone!

With the DayTrip quickly approaching (TOMORROW, OMG), we have some important
notes.

=== DEPARTURE INFORMATION ===

== Hikers ==

For the Hiking Group, even if you are on the wait list, please be ready to
leave the red block on the map[0] at 7:45 am. The bus will be leaving at
8:00 am promptly and breakfast will be distributed on the bus enroute to the
gorge.

If you are on the list to go hiking, and you are not present at 7:45 am, you
may lose your spot to the next person on the wait list that is present. I
highly recommend punctuality. :)

== Less Strenuous Group ==

For the less strenuous, but still outside and enjoying the gorge group,
please be ready to leave the red area[0] at 9:00 am. It will take time to
situate everyone on buses and get prepared to leave. We will not have
breakfast for you guys, but Ondine will be open regular breakfast hours, so
please get your fill before meeting us at 9:00 am.

=== Itinerary [1] ===

== Hikers ==

You will be departing PSU at 8:00 am *sharp*, and heading straight for
Multnomah Falls. We will have maps to distribute to you. Please be sure
you have your water bottles.

Once all sub-groups have completed the hike, you will be bused to our
central location to meet up with the other groups and enjoy lunch at Rooster
Rock State Park. We will have your lunches there waiting.

After lunch and recreation, you will join one of the other groups to see
Vista House, and get a spectacular view of the Columbia River Gorge.

You will then return back to PSU campus for showers or whatever you need
before meandering to Punch Bowl Social for our conference dinner.

== Less Strenuous Group ==

You will either be starting at Multnomah Falls, meeting up at Rooster Rock
State Park for recreation, then finishing the Gorge trip at Vista House, or
you will start at Vista House, meet up at Rooster Rock State Park for
recreation, then finish the Gorge trip at Multnomah Falls. For specific
time-frames, please see the itinerary linked above.

== Both Groups ==

Please note that there is potential for swimming at Rooster Rock State Park.
If you wish to swim (it will be warm!!), please make sure you pack your
swimsuit and a towel.

Please be courteous to our organizers and fellow DayTrippers and be punctual
at each stop to ensure a timely return to campus.

=== DayTrip Completion ===

All buses will return to PSU by 5:30 pm. You will have an hour to freshen up
and head over to Punch Bowl Social to join everyone for the Conference
Dinner [2].

=== Other info ===

If you get separated from the group and need to reconnect, the Front Desk
line will be open: +1 503 740 9606.

If you have a special dietary request, please be sure you identify yourself
when picking up your sack lunch at Rooster Rock State Park.

If you can't get into the Broadway dorm, please hit me (hlieberman) up
