I should admit that I lost track of where all this should be discussed,
I would say that a wiki page in Category:DebConf13 would be the best:

Was there a possibility to camp outdoors? That might help lowering the
threshold here. Also making a note.

This is currently being discussed with 'Le Camp' and we are sorry we do
no have a definitive answer yet.

Re: [Debconf-team] DC13 sponsoring brochure, please review sections Debian and DebConf

2012-07-24 Thread Christian PERRIER
Quoting Gaudenz Steinlin (gaud...@debian.org):

 Hi

In preparation of the DC13 sponsoring brochure I reviewed and amended
the sections about Debian and DebConf. We used the DC11 brochure as a
starting point and I also looked at the DC10 brochure for some ideas.
The latex source of the paragraphs in question is included below for
inline commenting. The whole source is in the debconf-data repository at
dc13/sponsorship-brochure/brochure.en.tex. The tex file does not yet
have it's final formatting. Ignore all formatting issues.

I have split the Debian section into 3 more distinct subsections:

 1. Free Operating System
 2. Debian is Choice (started from DC10 brochure)
 3. A Large Scale, Non-profit, Distributed Project

My intention is to explain a bit more in depth the spirit and goals of
the Debian project also to potential sponsors that might not know Debian
very well and to hilight the key properties of the Debian project. The
text is a bit longer as in the DC12 brochure, but not yet as long as in
 the DC10 edition.

For the DebConf section I mainly added a short description of the DC13
 venue and setting.

Please review my changes both with regard to content as for english
 language improvements.

A good idea might be involving debian-l10n-english (though this list
will soon have an increase in work because of various documents to be
created|updated for the wheezy release). A good opportunity to remin
native speakers who read the Debconf lists that they can help quite
significantly in debian-l10n-english..:)

This was probably a bit misfurmulated. What I meant is review the
content and if you can improve the language by the way don't hesitate to
do so.

I welcome everyone from debian-l10n-english and debian-publicity to
improve the current text. I also welcome any content improvements. This
is a collaborative effort and I don't want to do this alone. So please
feel free to just commit your improvements to the Subversion repository

But be aware that the content of the text is not yet final and may
change. So if you spend hours wordsmithing an english sentence it may
just be deleted later in the process. I intend to send another mail with
a more formal call for review as soon as a rough draft of the whole text
is available. For now I only went over the first two sections (included
below). The other sections still need someone to take care of. Please
send follow ups to debconf-team@lists.debconf.org and

29000 is binary packages in squeeze. More interesting are the number of source

I took that snippet from the DC10 sponsoring brochure, which being in
