Re: [Debconf-video] video index site
Thanks Jeremy. for demo and review, can I get dns entry: videos.debian.org 23.253.40.202 I don't want to have to answer Why are we using your domain? It's low hanging fruit - low tech and man hour resources, and it's kinda cool. Heres the scoop: http://video.debian.net points to a box that hosts video files. good. I don't want to change that, the files for dc14 will go there just like always. There was an effort to use miro communities to index all the debian videos, I think that failed, that plan didn't work out for python.mirocomunites.org. There is a project called richard: https://github.com/willkg/richard Here are some instances: http://pyvideo.org videos.writethedocs.org video.nodepdx.org video.open-bio.org videos.pumpingstationone.org and some more reading http://pyvideo.org/pages/about I setup a demo instance and pushed this years conf data into it, but they are all in draft state so that no one stumbles across it and complains that there are no videos. Here is what a page looks like: http://videoindex.debian.nextdayvideo.com/video/2/debian-in-the-dark-ages-of-free-software Here is the deployment script: https://github.com/CarlFK/richard-deploy It is a basic django app, it lets the user search the metadata and really just gives them the URL of the video. whatever is quickest. videos.debian.net is preferred, it helps show the content can be more than just debconf. videos.debconf.org would be fine too given for the next few weeks it will only be dc14. It seems as if this would lead to confusion down the road. Will the service at videoS.d.n live for a long time? If not, another namespace may be better. In this specific case, video.debconf14.debconf.org might be the best option. Event-specific and without risk of confusion. It _is_ kinda long, though. Re: [Debconf-video] dc14 video setup and training schedule
short: I need help with packaging. not for dc14 which should give you an idea of how comfortable I am with how dc14 things are going. Others share your thoughts too, so I am addressing the group, not you personally. We don't need 2 hours lunches, we can be in the rooms till 10p.. etc. Really we don't have to start on Friday at all, so thats and extra 24 hours. The proposed schedule is very relaxed. * By not delivering the hardware before, you decided yourself to use your software setup, your configuration. but no documentations. Not true. You seems to take little care of the bad reputation for Debian, DebConf and the VideoTeam if anything goes wrong. Well, you seem to want to do everything your way, on your own. You may find yourself a little bit alone. I am very concerned with all these things is seems you think I don't care about. not sure this matters. I hope I am 100% wrong, still, I stroke my name through on the wiki help page until i get a better understanding (or remove my name completely otherwise) other than people's offers to help feeling unappreciated, I am not too worried about it. I am very good at setting up rooms, I am not good at all in sorting out packaging issues and the few times I have tried it has driven me crazy. I would be very appreciative of some help with that.
