I can mount and access the data, and the device mapper even sees the logical volumes, but I cannot read the partition table using fdisk. For any disk I get the following message: remaxp:~# fdisk -l /dev/sdb Disk /dev/sdb: 4335 MB, 4335206400 bytes 134 heads, 62 sectors/track, 1019 cylinders Units = cylinders of 8308 * 512 = 4253696 bytes Disk /dev/sdb doesn't contain a valid partition table Of course, the first lines vary, but both non-interactive and interactive fdisk cannot obtain the partition table. Since this is independent of bus protocol (SCSI and PATA), and all tools I tried (mount, lvm, cp) accessed the disks just fine, I conclude that this is not a kernel issue (yes, BSD disk labels are configured in) but a problem in fdisk. Please reassing if this assumption is incorrect. PS : please do not pseudo-tag bugs. The BTS has an upstream tag but it is usually considered to be the maintainer's job to tag bugs, at least with this tag.

However, we'd better keep the code commented rather than removing it. I blindly tried to reproduce that bug on a quadri Xeon server running sarge and was unable to reproduce it. Note that I have absolutely no understanding of the bug issue. I was just wandering through RC bugs Anyway, I think the bug severity is overflated: grave makes the package in question unusable or mostly so, or causes data loss, or introduces a security hole allowing access to the accounts of users who use the package. IMHO, important is more appropriate: important a bug which has a major effect on the usability of a package, without rendering it completely unusable to everyone. The bug, as described, does not make the package unusable, given the very specific way to trigger it. It does not cause data loss, but only a DoS And it does not introduce a security hole allowing access to the accounts of users. I believe the problem was that the generated shape file didn't have any features included, only the coordinate points. Hi, this seems to describe the details of the vulnerability fixed in Wordpress 1.5.1 and it roughly matches the description by io_error: http://www.mindblaze.net/articles/information-technology/security-breach-in-wordpress-15-rss-feeds-enclosures/ However, I think that upstream's reaction renders Wordpress unusable for a stable release. There have been several Wordpress security issues until now and if they only provide fixed new upstream versions without giving details the Security team cannot provide support for it. I think that this will break things severely for many people and that it therefore should be Release Critical and fixed as soon as possible. I think that there should be a question during install to allow non-encrypted plaintext passwords. In own window mode, display gets corrupted as if each refresh draws over whatever was displayed previously. At program start display is clean, showing labels over the background pixmap of the desktop (exactly what I want). Then at each refresh display gets more and more corrupted. Or if torsmo's window gets temporarily overlapped by another window, background doesn't get redrawn, only labels and bars get drawn over pixels remaining from the overlapping window. This also applies when iconifying and restoring torsmo's window. FWIW, I rapidly looked at the sources and found that a call to XClearArea(region) before calling draw_stuff in main_loop may be useful... Remember: exposure isn't supposed to clear the exposed area, this task is up to the program. Messing with /etc/c-client.cf is considered unofficial by upstream, so won't be supported as more than that by me either. If you feel that this makes this software unsuited for your use, then please look for alternatives. For IMAP and POP3 daemon I strongly recommend using dovecot. Unfortunately there is no alternative than libc-client as library behind PHP :-( And I believe the argument that shadow passwords should make the IETF recommandations fulfilled is wrong: Shadow passwords has nothing to do with sending passwords unencrypted on the wire. It simply outputs Cannot create or Error writing without telling you, for example, if you have no disk space or a permissions issue. I had to run it through strace to see the error code from write(2). If libxfcegui4 is linked to libxfce4util, dh_shlibdeps should make sure it's pulling in the correct version, so I suspect libxfce4util isn't properly declaring the version requirement. While this is true and I certainly see your point, the fact remains that things broke severely when I upgraded. I did not receive any information about what was going on, and when I tried dpkg-reconfigure I still wasn't warned that this was going to happen. And this is what makes this Release Critical. I totally buy your explanation about the unofficial status of /etc/c-client.cf, but I should be warned about it when I install the package, or do a dpkg-reconfigure, perhaps in the form of a notice telling me that there is important information to read if I'm upgrading and/or want to allow non-encrypted plaintext logins. In an ideal world the program would work so well that I would never know it existed and my web pages would just magically appear in my browser after I clicked on an URL file. urlview shows that menu because often there's not only a single URL in its input; this way the user can choose which of the links he wants to open. Do you want to see urlview simply running url_handler.sh without asking anything if there's only a single URL? If this is the request, I'll retitle the bug. As-is, yes, it should. But what about uploading a newer version? The update seems straight-forward at first glance (doing a diff between versions). So it's possible to have the web interface working, but the poller silently failing. That is what just happened to me for what must now be the third or forth time The cause of this throwing away of errors is /etc/cron.d/cacti which contains this: */5 * * * * www-data /usr/share/cacti/site/poller.php /dev/null 21 So you're deliberately throwing away *all* output, include stderr! Please could you change that crontab to this: MAILTO=root */5 * * * * www-data /usr/share/cacti/site/poller.php /dev/null Then root will get emailed any errors (they'll be the same as you get for the web interface as poller.php uses /usr/share/cacti/site/include/config.php too). I'm not sure if providing additional license files in /usr/share/doc/package/ is an RC bug or not -- I can't think of any reason why it should be -- but the submitter's concern has not been addressed, so this bug should remain open. Suggestion of solution IMHO, it is hard to translate ide/host0/ to hda. So, it is suggested to use major/minor device number alternatively. Those device numbers are able to be obtained from /proc/partitions. If open(device) results in ENOENT, mknod(/tmp/temporary(ungessable) device_name, ... , major/minor obtained /proc/partitions) can be done after that and then try open() again. (The app-defaults is generated by the c-Preprecessor, so that it can #if depending on the options it was compiled with. And when compiled with to new cpp it does not recognise something to be #defined and needing replacement. (You might have noticed the translation table syntax error: Unknown modifier name: LOG_TRANSLATION error message when started...) Thanks for realizing this. Workaround is removing those LOG_TRANSLATION lines from /etc/X11/app-defaults/Xfm. Fixed packages is currently beeing compiled and if my testing show no other new problems hopefully uploaded today. More clearly: The 7th console shows always gdm, when I connect the first time my session goes to the 8th. If I want another session, I come back to the 7th and login, the 2th session is the 9th console and so on. Like this I can lock my session (with xlock -mode blank ;-)) and go back to the gdm greeter if someone wants to use the machine. In case of reboot or halt, gdm should also warn that another session is running. n.
