Bug#774609: eztrace-contrib: please build-depend on libtool-bin to fix FTBFS

2015-01-04 Thread Logan Rosen
Package: eztrace-contrib
Version: 1.0.5-1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu vivid ubuntu-patch

Dear Maintainer,

eztrace-contrib currently fails to build from source on amd64 with unstabe
sources due to calling the libtool command but not build-depending on
libtool-bin, which now provides that command.

It doesn't, accordingly, properly create cuda.lo, which leads to the following
error:

libtool: link: `cuda.lo' is not a valid libtool object

In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

  * Build-depend on libtool-bin to fix FTBFS.

Thanks for considering the patch.

Bug#762132: Is it only in Debian?

2015-01-04 Thread Valerio Passini
Package: fglrx-driver
Version: 1:14.12-1

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
I want to stress that this bug seems to be only in Debian.
Looking for information on linux+fglrx+invisible+cursor or
linux+amd+catalyst+invisible+cursor leads always to Debian and yields no
result on other distros.
BTW, my system is hybrid and the latest fglrx driver has been tested by me
to no avail with kdm, lighdm, xfce and kde, with and without HW
acceleration. The cursor is visible only when the Intel integrated gpu is
working as primary graphics card.

..yes, sorry I'll do so..

According to your /var/log/Xorg.8.log logfile, it looks like the
problem is that for some reason the nvidia driver is unable to detect
your nvidia GPU, i.e.

Is your nvidia GPU supported by nvidia-driver 340.46? See supported
products section at [1]. Otherwise, you may have to set the BusID
manually in /etc/bumblebee/xorg.conf.nvidia. Refer to the comments in
that file for a brief howto.

Meanwhile I found the solution which I posted on GitHub where I looked
also for a solution. See the conversation here:

https://github.com/Bumblebee-Project/Bumblebee/issues/580

The solution (for me) was, that I had to DELETE the BusID parameter in
my /etc/bumblebee/xorg.conf.nvidia. I set this parameter at first
manually, as you suggested. I checked twice if it was the correct
number, but the error message remained.

After deleting it, bumblebee worked! A vblank_mode=0 optirun -b primus
glxgears -info now gave me 945 fps instead of the 60 and a cat
/proc/acpi/bbswitch showed me the card was ON.

But whenever I UNCOMMENT the BusID:xxx line in the xorg.conf.nvidia,
the error message returned again.

I can't say for sure, if the latest nvidia driver update to version
340.65-2 has something to do with it too, as was mentioned on GitHub,
because I'm not sure any longer, if I tried bumblebee the first time
without this parameter also or not. I only know that I set and uncomment
it then.

Thanks for answering and

Kind Regards

Dirk Linnerkamp

Agreed, this would be good. I'm unsure how to proceed, though. Also,

Bug#774559: php5: dpkg trigger cycle between libapache2-mod-php5{, filter} and php5-common

2015-01-04 Thread Niels Thykier
Package: src:php5
Version: 5.6.4+dfsg-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

The libapache2-mod-php5 and libapache2-mod-php5filter packages have a
trigger cycle via the php5-common package. This was detected by a
script on jenkins.debian.net[1].

Steps to reproduce the cycle (in a Jessie/sid chroot):

apt-get install libapache2-mod-php5 php5-common
dpkg --unpack /var/cache/apt/archives/php5-common_${PHP5-COMMON_VERSION}_*.deb
dpkg --configure --pending

(Similar for libapache2-mod-php5filter)

This simulates an upgrade scenario, where php5-common might be
temporarily deconfigured while libapache2-mod-php5 (or
libapache2-mod-php5filter) remains configured. If this happens, dpkg
is unable to recover as the cycle requires php5-common to be
configured for it to run the trigger because the libapache2-mod-php5
(and libapache2-mod-php5filter) depends on php5-common.

Known solutions:

 * Use no-await triggers. *CAVEAT*: not always applicable. Known suitable
use cases includes cache handling, where the cache is allowed to be
   out of date tempoarily.
 * Reduce the dependency to Recommends. *CAVEAT*: Rarely applicable.
 * Rewrite the solution to avoid triggers entirely. *CAVEAT*: May be
non-trivial and likely to involve updates to at least libapache2-mod-php5
   and libapache2-mod-php5filter.

~Niels

Hi Dominic

Note this issue only affects Movable Type versions 6.0.6, 5.2.11
and 5.18. It does not affect versions 6.0.5, 5.2.10, 5.17 and prior
 versions.

Netanel Rubin, the discoverer of the issue confirmed to me that the
information there seem just not correct, since he discovered the issue
in testing in 5.2.10. Thus reopening the bug.

I don't know if the parameter verification fixes is easily
backportable to 5.1.4 also (not checked that (yet)). In the light of
#734303, should movabletype-opensource maybe be removed also from
unstable?

As you see, I uploaded a package on 4 Dec 2014 under freeze and waited
it to migrate to testing. I certainly have this fixed in my local copy
already which I am thinking to split from the debmake to debmake-doc
package after the release.

Considering we are deep into the freeze, should I still dare to fix this
with pre-approval. I also found few more minor errors in this doc, too.
(hello-py as the module name of a python code example is incorrect)

(As I understand, we are not allowed to upload a package just to fix an
important bug.)

Give me a short justification text to send to the release team if you
think that this needs to be fixed for jessie and it is possible.

Osamu

This simulates an upgrade scenario, where gsfonts might be temporarily
deconfigured while gsfonts remains configured. If this happens, dpkg
is unable to recover as the cycle requires gsfonts to be configured
for it to run the trigger becayse grace depends on gsfonts.

*CAVEAT*: May be
non-trivial and likely to involve updates to at least gsfonts.

Yes. The bug is important enough that a fix warrants a freeze exception

Bug#774561: ITP: openlayers3 -- JavaScript library for displaying map data in web browsers

2015-01-04 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Bas Couwenberg sebas...@xs4all.nl

* Package name: openlayers3
  Version : 3.1.1
  Upstream Author : OpenLayers Contributors
* URL : http://openlayers.org/
* License : BSD-2-Clause
  Programming Lang: JavaScript
Description : JavaScript library for displaying map data in web browsers

OpenLayers is a pure JavaScript library for displaying map data in
most modern web browsers, with no server-side dependencies.

OpenLayers implements a JavaScript API for building rich web-based
geographic applications, similar to the Google Maps and MSN Virtual
Earth APIs.

This package contains OpenLayers 3 (OL3), a fundamental redesign of the
OpenLayers web mapping library. Version 2 is widely used, but dates from
the early days of Javascript development, and is increasingly showing its
age. OL3 has been rewritten from the ground up to use modern design patterns.

The openlayers3 package will be maintained within the Debian GIS team.

Many of the OpenLayers 3 Node.js dependencies that are not yet packaged in
Debian are probably best maintained by the Debian JavaScript
Maintainers.

Description : Utility for working with Closure Library projects

Closure Util is a utility for working with Closure Library projects.
The closure-util command line utility allows you to update (or install)
specific versions of the Closure Compiler or Closure Library for use
with your project. The closure-util package downloads the Closure
Compiler and Closure Library when installed. To use a different version
of these resources, you can provide some basic configuration options
before running npm install. Your configuration options can come from a
number of different sources. The most straightforward way is to include
a closure-util.json file in your project. You can also provide
configuration options via environment variables.

closure-util is required for OpenLayers 3 (#774561).

Bug#759432: gogoc exits after establishing tunnel when called by init.d script

2015-01-04 Thread Uli Luckas
Inspired by the first replay to a post on openwrt [1] I renamed the
init script to gogoclient and it now works.
It looks like the init script is killed in the process, because it has
the same name as the daemon.
The real fix would probably be to use a pid file?

2015-01-04 Thread Łukasz Stelmach
Package: extlinux
Version: 2:4.05+dfsg-6+deb7u1
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

extlinux-update creates recovery mode entries by adding single
and removing quiet options in kernel command line. I think there
may be some other options that should be removed too. For example,
resume=... because it is quite tricky (rescue shell after resuming)
or dangerous to do anything with the system before resuming.

It might be convenient to have separate entry without resume=
option and without single too.

I can reproduce this in my test environment on i386 and amd64. It only happens
when the builddir and /tmp are on different filesystems. It seems the local
clone tries to create a hard link, which fails across filesystems (the fact
that this happens without fallback is an error in itself, so the test actually
discovered a problem here). When setting the TMPDIR to a directory on the same
filesystem, the test doesn't hit this issue, and the build works fine.

I've had a go at reproducing this locally, but it seems to be a pretty
subtle bug. My TMP_DIR on one of my machines is on a different file
system to my builddir but it seems to switch to copying instead of
linking during the clone. I can see this with strace. They do stat
/tmp and . before beginning the copy/link. I realise it's probably
futile but could you please run stat and compare your device id's. That
is how they are checking that they are the same FS in the clone code.

Bug#761170: upstream

2015-01-04 Thread Ivo De Decker
Hi,

On Mon, Jan 05, 2015 at 01:15:52AM +1100, Russell Sim wrote:
I can reproduce this in my test environment on i386 and amd64. It only
  happens
when the builddir and /tmp are on different filesystems. It seems the local
clone tries to create a hard link, which fails across filesystems (the fact
that this happens without fallback is an error in itself, so the test
  actually
discovered a problem here). When setting the TMPDIR to a directory on the
  same
filesystem, the test doesn't hit this issue, and the build works fine.

Both the build dir and the tmp dir are bind mounts of the same tmpfs. So the
device id is the same, but they are different mountpoints. You can probably
reproduce it by just bind-mounting (mount --bind) the filesystem of your
build-dir to some place, and use that as tmpdir. The device id's are the same,
but you are not allowed to use hard-links (because they are not the same
mountpoint). If you look in strace for XDEV, you'll find the error.

Cheers,

Ivo

Bug#774570: RFP: node-walk -- Node.js port of Pythons os.walk

2015-01-04 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: node-walk
  Version : 2.3.4
Upstream Author : AJ ONeal coola...@gmail.com

  Programming Lang: JavaScript
  Description : A node port of python's os.walk

node-walk is a Node.js walk implementation.

This is somewhat of a port python's os.walk, but using Node.JS conventions.

 * EventEmitter
 * Asynchronous
 * Chronological (optionally)
 * Built-in flow-control
 * includes Synchronous version (same API as Asynchronous)

As few file descriptors are opened at a time as possible. This is particularly
well suited for single hard disks which are not flash or solid state.

node-walk is required for OpenLayers 3 (#774561).

I think the right way to do this would be for brltty to create

Bug#774571: RFP: node-mocha-phantomjs -- PhantomJS Runners for Mocha

2015-01-04 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: node-mocha-phantomjs
  Version : 3.5.2
Upstream Author : Ken Collins, Metaskills
* URL : https://github.com/metaskills/mocha-phantomjs
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: JavaScript
Description : PhantomJS Runners for Mocha

Mocha is a feature-rich JavaScript test framework running on node and
the browser. Along with the Chai assertion library they make an
impressive combo. PhantomJS is a headless WebKit with a
JavaScript/CoffeeScript API. It has fast and native support for various
web standards like DOM handling, CSS selectors, JSON, Canvas, and SVG.

The mocha-phantomjs project provides a mocha-phantomjs.coffee script
file and extensions to drive PhantomJS while testing your HTML pages
with Mocha from the console. The preferred usage is to install
mocha-phantomjs via node's packaged modules and use the mocha-phantomjs
binary wrapper.

node-mocha-phantomjs is a build dependency of OpenLayers 3 (#774561).

Bug#774573: RFS: rc/1.7.2-2 ITP

2015-01-04 Thread Jakukyo Friel
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors,

I've uploaded a new version of rc to m.d.n:

http://mentors.debian.net/package/rc

Jakub Wilk (current rc maintainer) will be the sponsor.

I file this RFS bug because: (as Jakub suggested)

- wnpp bugs are not very visible, whereas RFS bugs are automatically forwarded
to debian-mentors@lists.d.o
- other people can learn from the reviews
- other people can review the review

Bug#774574: debian-edu-install: [INTL:nl] Dutch translation of debconf messages

2015-01-04 Thread Frans Spiesschaert

Package: debian-edu-install
Severity: wishlist
Tags: l10n patch

Hi,

Please find attached an updated Dutch translation
for the debconf messages of Debian-edu-install.
The update should cope with the 'not-up-to-date-po-file' error as
reported on
https://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po-debconf/nl.

In the mean time I tried to optimize the layout for the translation
of message #10.

Bug#774576: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64: SATA errors with non-faulty disks

2015-01-04 Thread Fidel Leon
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.16.7-ckt2-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Dear Maintainer,

I'm getting SATA errors with my drives, using two different motherboards (old
one, Nvidia chipset, new one, Intel chipset), new, quality SATA cables, a new,
yesterday-bought hard disk. Seems the errors come more frequently when the
drives wake up from sleep.

This word is also not included in the new update I'm preparing.

I don't know german, so I don't know how to decline that word. Adding it without
declination does not make sense.

I'm also not willing to read and understand the de_DE aff file, but I'd accept a
patch, if you want to propose one.

If so, please base it on top of

Bug#774551: unblock: flash-kernel/3.30

2015-01-04 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Control: tag -1 confirmed

Ian Campbell i...@debian.org (2015-01-04):
 Package: release.debian.org
 Severity: normal
 Tags: d-i
 User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
 Usertags: unblock

Please unblock package flash-kernel. This package produces a udeb, so kibi CCd
 and d-i tag added.

 Testing currently contains 3.28.

3.29 was a brown paper bag upload to revert an accidental upload of a version
intended for experimental to unstable. It fixed the content type for a
translation but was otherwise a nop compared with 3.28.

3.30 adds support for the TI OMAP5 uEVM board (#77325) and LinkSprite pcDuino3
(user request on debian-arm@) as well as an alternative name for the
 BeagleBone
 Black (#773890).

It also avoids issues arising from the old ambigous name used by BBB which
could be confused for the BeagleBone White by refusing to boot on the White
(which is a far less common platform, which we don't currently support).
 Fixing
things to work on both would be a far larger patch not suitable for Jessie (at
least in the abasence of a user request). This was discussed in #773890).

Lastly this version makes sure that /dev/mtdblock* will be available before
 use
by ensuring that the kernel module is loaded (#773991).

No objection, thanks.

Mraw,
KiBi.

Bug#491557:

2015-01-04 Thread Andoru Ekkusu
Package: audacity
Version: 2.0.6-2
Severity: normal

Don't have anything of use to add to this bug report but I'm having the
same issues, I hear a loud pop when I open Audacity, although granted it
happens randomly (so not every time I start Audacity)
Sometimes this is also comes along with a ALSA daemon failed or something
along those lines. (I forgot the error message)

I also get a pop occasionally when I play a sound file. It seems to happen
the most when I previously stopped the playback in a loud portion of a
file, and then play again at a random position.

Well, 773916 is closed, so if you want to merge them, does that mean
that all problems are solved for jessie?

Looking at my evolution calendar at the moment, I see the bug:

libical1 1.0-1.2

Maybe it is just a matter of binNMUs, but someone really needs to make
sure that we ship jessie with a working combination.

Judging from this stacktrace and from the fact that your file crashes
audacity, too, I'd say we're dealing with a problem in the decoder
library. Reassigning to package libvorbis.

I am going to look into this and/or forward it to upstream.

This bug was found using American fuzzy lop:
https://packages.debian.org/experimental/afl

Huh! Didn't know about this tool (although I've heard about the
general concept of fuzzing to discover bugs). I will have to give it a
spin...

Cheers,

Bug#774505: bouncy: Window is 4:3 on 16:9 display and not fullscreen or windowed

When I start bouncy it is displayed as a fullscreen 4:3 view at the right side

 I edited game.py:16 from:
 screen = pygame.display.set_mode(viewport, OPENGL | DOUBLEBUF) # | FULLSCREEN
 to
 screen = pygame.display.set_mode(viewport, OPENGL | DOUBLEBUF | FULLSCREEN)

That gave me a normal fullscreen view. I don't know why the FULLSCREEN option
was disabled. It doesn't seem to be a decorated window controlled by the
 window manager, before the change.

Hello,

bouncy does not provide an option to toggle fullscreen and window mode.
I think this might be the reason why the upstream author decided to
deactivate FULLSCREEN at that time. I get a fixed window with a viewport
of 1024x768 pixel which I can move around. What kind of window manager
do you use? Perhaps this bug report should be retitled to please
support fullscreen mode.

Bug#774579: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64: Kernel fails to boot - cannot find root

2015-01-04 Thread Dave
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.16.7-ckt2-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Hi,

At some point between the 3.13 and the 3.16 kernels, the ata-piix driver
appears to have broken for my hardware (I don't
have the intermediate versions to check precisely which version it broke at).

The console output from boot is:
consoleoutput
Booting the kernel.

Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
/consoleoutput

After this I get some fairly standard text complaining about not finding the
root device and left with a BusyBox prompt.
The system boots fine with a 3.13 kernel (which is what I'm running now in
order to send this report)

I'm happy to give further information on request (please let me know where I
can find the info when asking for it though)
or try out patched kernels (preferably supplied as '.deb' packages please :-) ).

Thank you for your time!

Dave

Maybe I'm confusing the jessie upgrade with the wheezy one, but i was

Bug#774326: wget dependency

On 12/31/14 20:28, jnqnfe wrote:

agreed; in git, the code can now check for the host system packages
properly.

furthermore, no check at all is applied for the chroot_firmware script, which
also uses wget in a similar way.

fixed in git.

As long as wget is used from the host and not within chroot, the existing
check should be scrapped, and wget added as a dependency for the live-build
package itself. I feel that 'depends' is the correct section to place it in,
since it is necessary for a significant portion of functionality (installer
and live fs firmware components), as per debian policy.

wget is not needed for basic live system building, thus recommends is
the right place for wget here.

Bug#774378: Ubuntu firmware inclusion

2015-01-04 Thread Daniel Baumann
severity 774378 minor

thanks

Hi,

regarding severity and ubuntu in general: ubuntu support in live-* is
best-effort, meaning that we're not working on ubuntu and are not
testing ubuntu images, but if you send patches we'll apply them.

regarding the bug: it used to be that content files are available at
$archive/dists/$codename/Contents* but they got moved for wheezy to
$archive/dists/$codename/$archive_area/Contents*.

debian defines the defacto repository layout all tools for debian can
rely on, if a derivative decides to *not* follow it, they have to deal
with the fallout of it (e.g. see apt-file).

thus, this is the wrong place to fix that ubuntu has not catched up with
debian in this particular issue, so i'm closing the bug (if this bothers
you, feel free to reopen if you have a patch ready for it).

Regards,
Daniel

Thank you for your directions, but I fear I wasn't clear enough in my

using Ubuntu), this is a bug in the Extended Stable 3.16 kernel [1], the
upstream for both Ubuntu and Debian. The wiki page [2] told me to send

If I still should file a Launchpad bug, where should I file it? Not at

Bug#774581: nacl: please make choice of implementation deterministic

Source: nacl
Version: 20110221-4.1
Severity: wishlist
User: reproducible-bui...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: cpu

Hi!

While working on the “reproducible builds” effort [1], we have noticed that
nacl could not be built reproducibly.

During the latest build, a different implementation for sha512 was
picked between the first build and the subsequent rebuild [2]. While
this should not be a problem for software built with nacl — unless
calling a specific variant — it means that they might have different
performance after using a version of the nacl package or another.

It would be better to have the default choice be chosen in a
deterministic way and provide both implementations to nacl users.

Bug#774378: Ubuntu firmware inclusion

2015-01-04 Thread jnqnfe
Ok, I'm totally on board with Ubuntu needing to fix their layout. I
posted in their mailing lists about it to make sure they are aware of
the problem as it relates to live-build. Forgot to post the link here,
so here it is:

https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-mirrors/2015-January/000351.html

I did also post it to their archive mailing list, but it's not appeared
there (yet).

I was considering building a patch on top of my bug #718225 solution
(which I'll be posting within the hour btw), but it'd be somewhat large,
and Ubuntu building is already broken as it is (#774396 #774391). With
my solution in place, Ubuntu building will definitely be impossible
until either Ubuntu changes their layout, or we build a patch.
