Bug#1064843: odoo-16: minor upgrades available

2024-02-26 Thread Cédric Villemain
Package: odoo-16
Version: 16.0.0+dfsg.2-2~bpo12+1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: ced...@villemain.org

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Evaluating debian native package.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Getting an up to date odoo with open source patches applied. And adding
community addons

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Odoo version number is not very clear. 16.0 is current but they have others,
see odoo saas:
https://www.odoo.com/documentation/16.0/administration/maintain/supported_versions.html
Also it's not very clear if OCA/OCB should be used instead.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Getting more information about version packaged in debian and policy about
upgrade, where to add addons...
Maybe outline if it's the relevant package to install for users of odoo
community applications.

 Thanks for the offer but to be honest, I don't have a specific

 stumbled over it when looking through packages with RC bugs.

I'll fix the packaging during my work to make pgfincore compliant with

Sorry for the late reply.

 Default port number is set to 5433 instead of 5432.

It is probably because you already have a PostgreSQL cluster on port 5432,
check pg_lscluster.
Maybe you've removed it, but the configuration remains unchanged (this is
expected).

  kernel.shmmax = 5922496
  kernel.shmall = 2097152

 Even more interestingly, when I wanted to make the change permanent in
 /etc/sysctl.conf, I read:

 $ tail -3 /etc/sysctl.conf
 # necessary for postgresql 9.1 to even start
 kernel.shmmax= 5922496

 Implying that I already ran into this problem, but at that time, 5922496
 was the correct amount of memory to get it started. Is this plausible or
 did I make a mistake when saving that value? Did the SHM requirements of
 postgresql increase recently within 9.1?

You made a mistake. PostgreSQL used to have its parameter 'shared_buffers' (the
one impacting shmmax) set to 24MB by default. It didn't changed.

Bug#678626: [Pkg-postgresql-public] Bug#678626: php5-pgsql: can't connect to PostgreSQL 9.x

2012-06-23 Thread Cédric Villemain
Le samedi 23 juin 2012 12:19:26, Vincent Bernat a écrit :
 Package: php5-pgsql
 Version: 5.4.4-2
 Severity: important

 Hi!

 PostgreSQL 9.x in Debian now defaults to port 5433 (in postgresql.conf:
 port = 5433). php5-pgsql still defaults to 5432. An application that
 does not specify port won't be allowed to connect to a PostgreSQL
 database.

If you had a previous version of PostgreSQL installed and then install the new
one, the port number is incremented so you can run both simultaneously.

For ex:
$ pg_lsclusters
Version Cluster Port Status OwnerData directory Log
file
9.0 main  5433 online postgres /var/lib/postgresql/9.0/main
/var/log/postgresql/postgresql-9.0-main.log
9.1 main  5432 online postgres /var/lib/postgresql/9.1/main
/var/log/postgresql/postgresql-9.1-main.log

PostgreSQL itself still defaults to 5432.

I don't know how pg_upgradecluster handle the case, if you used it.

 I don't know if this should be fixed in php5-pgsql or if the bug lies in
 PostgreSQL itself. Before 9.x, we were able to use SSL on port 5432
 without any problem. Feel free to relocate the bug to src:postgresql-9.1
 if needed.

 I have put PostgreSQL maintainers in copy of this report.

If postgresql8.3 is in the next stable, then MW will be ready for it.
(if next stable got a 8.3 postgresql, then we can add some patches for make

 Perhaps a correct trade-off would be to put pgsql in suggests and mysql in

MW work very fine and have good performance using postgresql and tsearch2
