Bug#1060856: [Pkg-xmpp-devel] Bug#1060856: gajim: needs gtk3 >= 3.24.30 (found 3.24.24) to run, not reflected in dependencies
On 2024-01-15 21:39, Martin wrote: for a normal, up-to-date system (or even not up-to-date, like Debian 12.0), there shouldn't be any issue. Correct, hence minor severity. I tried to find the reason for bumping the minor version of package dependencies by looking at the git commits in the gajim repository, but there was no reason given in the commit comments. I have asked Philipp Hörist for clarification by tagging him here: https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/-/commit/174e8df17e4a7b987615bf94fe2f6794abbb8c87#note_213094 / Christian
Bug#1060856: (no subject)
Upgrading gtk3 gives the next error "Gajim needs glib >= 2.66.0 (found 2.62.5) to run" Upgrading gir1.2-glib-2.0 helped that error and gajim starts. I found the full list of requirements in /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/gajim/main.py : _MIN_NBXMPP_VER = '4.5.3' _MIN_GTK_VER = '3.24.30' _MIN_CAIRO_VER = '1.16.0' _MIN_PYGOBJECT_VER = '3.42.0' _MIN_GLIB_VER = '2.66.0' _MIN_PANGO_VER = '1.50.0' _MIN_SQLITE_VER = '3.33.0'

Bug#1030232: apt-get install -y should use noninteractive debconf frontend
On 2023-02-01 14:00, Julian Andres Klode wrote: When I install a package with the -y flag, according to the man page should give me a noninteractive mode. However, it still uses the Dialog frontend. See the following output: We should fix the manual page because -y does not work for all prompts, luckily, but also debconf is not part of apt so like other hooks it can prompt on its own. Thanks for a quick answer, so -y only affects questions such as "The following additional packages will be installed:" "Do you want to continue?" ? Perhaps the documentation could be worded: -y, --yes, --assume-yes Run non-interactively, assuming "yes" as answer to unimportant questions. Abort in undesirable situations, such as changing a held package, trying to install an unauthenticated package or removing an essential package. Does not affect prompts generated by hooks such as debconf. Configuration Item: APT::Get::Assume-Yes.
