Bug#1070984: mate-themes: Strange lines below title bar in maximized windows for Yaru and Traditional themes

2024-05-12 Thread Christian Weiske
Package: mate-themes
Version: 3.22.24-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Maximized windows show a distorted line below the title bar
when using the Mate desktop with one of the following window frame themes:
- TraditionalOk
- TraditionalGreen
- YaruOk
- YaruGreen
- MurrineRoundedLessFramed
- MurrineRoundedLessFramedIcon

The line changes now and then and looks like it is read from corrupted memory.

I created several awstats.mydomain.conf files which all include the

I'd prefer that awstats.conf is skipped once domain config files exist.

Hello Roland,

Thank you for your very kind answer.

I installed glimpse, set the search tool to agrep and now have blazing
fast results.

I'd see this as configuration problem and not as a wishlist item.

But a note in the man page would be nice; telling people to install
glimpse when searching is slow.

Bug#1051544: ding: looking up words is very slow

2023-09-09 Thread Christian Weiske
Package: ding
Version: 1.9-6
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

When starting ding and searching for a word, it takes several seconds to
show the results.

For example when searching for "lupe", the status bar shows
> 8 results, 1979ms
and this is on an Intel i7-6500U with SSD and no load.

The command used is
> tre-agrep -h -w -i -e "lupe" /usr/share/trans/de-en

My settings are "0 errors" and "simple search".

tre-agrep is specifically built to find wrongly written words,
but since "0 errors" is selected, normal grep should be used.
This returns in 127ms instead of 2 seconds.

Bug#1051542: texlive-extra-utils: a5toa4 fails to generate pdf: No such file or directory

2023-09-09 Thread Christian Weiske
Package: texlive-extra-utils
Version: 2023.20230613-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Using a5toa4 fails in a very simple case:

> cweiske:~> a5toa4 a5.pdf
> This is pdfTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-1.40.25 (TeX Live 2023/Debian)

> entering extended mode
> /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/scripts/pfarrei/pfarrei.tlu:114:
> pfarrei.xt9z35/a5.pdf: No such file or directory

The temp directory does not contain the pdf file:

> $ ls -l1 pfarrei.xt9z35/
> insgesamt 16
> -rw-r--r-- 1 cweiske cweiske8 9. Sep 15:21 a5.aux
> -rw-r--r-- 1 cweiske cweiske 7062 9. Sep 15:21 a5.log
> -rw-r--r-- 1 cweiske cweiske 45 9. Sep 15:21 a5.tex

It seems the tool does not copy my pdf file to the temporary directory.

This makes a5toa4 completely unusable.

-- Package-specific info:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We will only consider bug reports concerning
the packaging of TeX Live as relevant. If you have problems with
combination of packages in a LaTeX document, please consult your
local TeX User Group, the comp.text.tex user group, the author of
the original .sty file, or any other help resource.

In particular, bugs that are related to up-upstream, i.e., neither
Debian nor TeX Live (upstream), but the original package authors,
will be closed immediately.

*** The Debian TeX Team is *not* a LaTeX Help Desk ***

If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report.

Please run your example with
(pdf)latex -recorder ...
(or any other program that supports -recorder) and send us the generated
file with the extension .fls, it lists all the files loaded during
the run and can easily explain problems induced by outdated files in
your home directory.

Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are
needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that
can be found at

By using "nsd-control addzone", I also got NSD into the situation that
it would not start anymore on Debian 11.

The current systemd service settings also prevent "nsd-control write"
from working (when trying to pull zones from old nameserver via axfr to
nsd on this machine):

Bug#1022226: apache2: RemoveCharset directive does not work

2022-10-22 Thread Christian Weiske
Package: apache2
Version: 2.4.54-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The "RemoveCharset" directive[1] does not work.

The "mime" module is loaded by default and adds a charset for
all files with the ".cis" extension:
> AddCharset ISO-2022-CN .iso2022-cn .cis

I tried to remove this with the "RemoveCharset" directive:
> RemoveCharset .cis
and
> RemoveCharset .iso2022-cn .cis

(in my .htaccess file, but also directly below the "AddCharset" line in
mime.conf)

Still, when fetching a file with ".cis" in its name Apache adds
the charset to the content-type header:

> $ curl -sI http://stouyapi.cwboo/game/com.cis.ouya.oth.htm |grep Content-Type
> Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-2022-cn

When commenting out the "AddCharset" line, the charset is not added to the
header.

Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

Debian unstable currently ships PHP 7.3, and php-oauth 2.0.2.
With PHP 7.3, internal structures changed and their use needs to be adjusted
in the oauth extension.

There is a fix for this already in php-oauth 2.0.4:
http://git.php.net/?p=pecl/web_services/oauth.git;a=commit;h=0828b70df7606b599785b3de1c15248d3e463b95

The problem that actually occurs is the following:
When validating an incoming OAuth request with
OAuthProvider:checkOAuthRequest(),
it will always return a failure:

oauth_problem=signature_invalid_sbs=POST&%01%3A%2F%2F%01%01_callback...

"debug_sbs" shows the data that are used for signature creation, and the second
part
(after the first &) should be host + path of the request.
Here we see NUL byte, ://, and another NUL byte.

Please provide php-oauth versino 2.0.4.

Bug#928749: mitmproxy: font not served in mitmweb

2019-05-23 Thread Christian Weiske
Hi,

The missing font-awesome css file makes it nearly impossible to install
the mitmproxy root certificate on devices, because the links to the
systems ("apple", "windows", "android", "other") are not clickable.

Without that links, there is no way to reach that page and install the
certificate.
I had to use my browser's inspector to make the links visible by adding
text in addition to the font. This is not possible on mobile devices,
thus rendering the mitm.it URL unusable for certificate installation.

Bug#918729: Acknowledgement (gearman-server: Some gearadmin commands do not work with gearman-server: --getpid, --server-verbose)

2019-01-08 Thread Christian Weiske
Hello,

The mentioned problems are gone when using "gearman-job-server" (the
C-reimplementation).

I'd still consider it a bug that those problems exist on
gearman-server, and that gearman-server does not start.

Bug#918729: gearman-server: Some gearadmin commands do not work with gearman-server: --getpid, --server-verbose

2019-01-08 Thread Christian Weiske
Package: gearman-server
Version: 1.130.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I'm trying to use gearman-server and inspect it with gearadmin.

Starting gearman via systemd does not work, so I had to start it as follows:

$ start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --pidfile /var/run/gearmand.pid --exec
/usr/bin/gearmand -- --pidfile=/var/run/gearmand.pid --debug=1

When trying to query server status now, I get errors:

$ gearadmin --server-verbose
Error: unknown_command

The server shows:
> Use of uninitialized value $a in substitution (s///) at
> /usr/share/perl5/Gearman/Server/Client.pm line 847.
> Use of uninitialized value $a in transliteration (tr///) at

> Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
> /usr/share/perl5/Gearman/Server/Client.pm line 841.

Next problematic command:

$ gearadmin --getpid
Error: unknown_command

The server shows the same error as for --server-verbose

Bug#917819: jameica: MySQL not usable #2

2018-12-30 Thread Christian Weiske
Package: jameica
Version: 2.8.2+dfsg-6
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I would like to use Jameica/Hibiscus with my MySQL server because I have a
central
hibiscusserver instance running in my home server.

In bug #908618 you already fixed this issue by adding libmysql-java as
dependency.
Unfortunately, commit cd956753 changed this to libmariadb-java, which does not
seem to be supported by Hibiscus itself (the wiki only mentions MySQL, and
has no entries about mariadb).

So now when trying to use

> database.driver=de.willuhn.jameica.hbci.server.DBSupportMySqlImpl

in .config/jameica/cfg/de.willuhn.jameica.hbci.rmi.HBCIDBService.properties,
I get an error:

> java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: loader.jameica:
> class not found: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver

I guess until Hibiscus itself brings support for libmariadb-java,
this package needs to depend on libmysql-java.

Bug#712564: spamassassin: Add feature to run spamassassin as debian-spamd user

2018-12-14 Thread Christian Weiske
Hi,

> When spamassassin is running in daemon mode (spamd) as root,
> the default behaviour is to setuid to the user running spamc. This
> lets spamd to load and examine the per-user configuration files as
> the user. So by default, the effective UID is sent to spamd from
> spamc.

This is only necessary when you have a 1:1 mapping between email
recipients and users on the system, and not at all useful when there is
a virtual user setup via database or MySQL.

Even if you are in a non-virtual setup, the question is if users really
use their own configuration files for spamassassin, or if they rather
rely on the admin to configure SA correctly.

If the main usage scenario of spamassassin on debian installations is
virtual user databases, then the default could be changed to let spamd
run the children as debian-spamd.

I adjusted /etc/default/spamassassin and ajusted OPTIONS:

OPTIONS="--username=debian-spamd --group debian-spamd ..."

this seems much too much.

Bug#908618: jameica: MySQL not usable; class not found: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver

2018-09-11 Thread Christian Weiske
Package: jameica
Version: 2.8.1+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I am running a hibiscus server in my network that stores its data in a MySQL
database. Several clients access this very database.

When trying to configure the jameica+hibiscus versions shipped with Debian to
do just this, it crashes because it cannot load the MySQL driver.

I manually installed libmysql-java for this and also added both
 /usr/share/java/mysql.jar
and
 /usr/share/java/mysql-connector-java.jar
to the class path (by running
 $ CLASSPATH=".:/usr/share/java/mysql.jar..." jameica
)
This did not help.

Package: wnpp

The mod_log_ipmask apache2 module allows partly anonymization of IP

Bug#508376: Possible fix

2016-11-02 Thread Christian Weiske

but a simple workaround is to replace
with

---8<
=mail.info -/var/log/mail.info

This does not work; the = must be after the dot:

> mail.=info -/var/log/mail.info

Otherwise rsyslog says:

Version: 2.0+dev6-1+b1

The "slimber" executable is not shipped with the swift-im package, but
I'd really like to use is to have link-local messaging for the psi xmpp
client.

Please build it and ship it with the package, or a standalone package.

Bug#639268: [php-maint] Bug#639268: [PATCH] Handle .phar (and .bz2|.gz|.zip) with PHP

2014-03-17 Thread Christian Weiske
Hello Thijs,

I'm missing why we would want Apache to handle the phar file
directly. If it's an archive, don't you want to download it instead
of execute it in the web server context?
Thanks, but this does not really answer my question?

I didn't see your question until I read the bug, sorry.

PHAR archives can be used to distribute full web applications with all
dependencies included, so that you only have to put it in your web
server's document root and access it via your browser.

Specifically to support this, phar has a feature called web index
file in the phar stub[1]. It gets called whenever the phar is executed
through a HTTP request.

So it makes sense to let PHP handle phar files (and their compressed
versions) directly, without extracting them.
More information about phar can be found on [2].

Subject: php5-cgi: phar executable missing
Package: php5-cgi

Dear Maintainer,

When installing PHP 5.4.x (and higher) from source, you get a phar
command that can be used to work with .phar files.

php5-cli does unfortunately not install it, but it should.

I'd be nice if debian would ship a git-merge-changelog package that
installed the executable of the changelog merging driver for git (part of

gnulib is available, but it does not install a separate git-merge-changelog

2011-08-25 Thread Christian Weiske
Package: libapache2-mod-php5
Version: 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.2
Severity: normal

..phar files are not executed with php when accessed through apache.

..phar is a file format to pack up whole PHP applications in a single file.

Reason for the problem is that
 /etc/apache2/mods-available/php5.conf
contains
FilesMatch \.ph(p3?|tml)$
SetHandler application/x-httpd-php
/FilesMatch
which does not match .phar. The regex should be extended to
\.ph(ar|p3?|tml)$
