Bug#697734: RM: huayra-icon-theme -- ROM/RoQA; Not part of Debian yet.

2013-01-08 Thread Mauro Lizaur
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: serious

Hello,
This package wasn't meant to be uploaded to Debian.
It was my mistake and I would like to be removed since it doesn't meet
the basic packaging standards (Description not in english, missing ITP,
etc).

It lays in NEW yet, so this should be removed as soon as you guys can.
http://ftp-master.debian.org/new/huayra-icon-theme_7.5-1.html

Thanks.

Saludos,
Mauro

2010-12-17 Thread Mauro Lizaur

2010-12-16, Robert Lange:

 Are there any plans to release an new debian package for python-twitter
 with OAuth support?

Hi Robert,
Not for the stable release because of this oauth issue.
BTW:
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=587749#20

One of the things that stoped me from finally uploading it
was the lack of oauth python library available on Debian,
which now is available [0], so I'll work/upload a new version
of python-twitter the following days.

BTW, thanks for your support. You can always help by reporting
bugs, writing examples and/or testing the library.

 Fair enough. Note that nobody here is saying thou shall not package
 this. We are just very cautious because adding a new web server to the
 archive might easily become a security PITA (ask the security team for
 some horror stories on the subject of yet another web server). So what
 we are saying is just that it should be worth it wrt other software
 offerings already in the archive.

 On a related topic, please remember that long descriptions are meant to
 help sysadms to decide whether they want to install a package or not. In
 this specific case, and giving the availability of competitor tools,
 your long description should explain why one might want to prefer woof
 over other packages.

 Thanks Mauro, we could drop all our webservers, now. :)

I guess we could, but it wouldn't be a very smart move to be honest.
Please, read the paragraphs written by Stefano, he made some interesting
points.

Also what I meant with that line was that when I need to copy a file to
(let's say) my cellphone in a simple (and/or stupid) way, this can easily
be achieved with that Python module. But at the same time, waiting for you
to answer the question we all have: What does it do?

Proptip:
Perhaps the usage of the following words might help you to convince us all.
 * scalable (This one is a sure-shot)
 * non-blocking
 * über-fast
 * «web2.0 ready» (I guess this one is kinda demodé these days anyway)
 * «Sarcasm inside» (Hope Intel doesn't get mad over this)

Bug#595588: mtop: fails to install

2010-09-06 Thread Mauro Lizaur
Hi,
Adding a few checks in the post{inst,rm} scripts would prevent
the package of failing to install.
Something like this:

 is_mysql_running()
 {
   if [ -f /usr/bin/mysql ]; then
   if [ $(echo exit|LANG=C mysql -h ${mysql_server} -P
  ${mysql_port} -u${root_mysql} ${mysqlpwd} 21|grep ^ERROR) !=  ];
   then
   echo WARNING: Can't connect to MySQL.;
   echo Perhaps you might want to use it other host?;
   fi
   fi
 }
[...]
   IMR=$(is_mysql_running)
   if [ $IMR !=  ]; then
   echo $IMR;
   else
   mysqlcmd=mysql -h ${mysql_server} -P ${mysql_port} -u${root_mysql}
  ${mysqlpwd}
   if ${mysqlcmd} -B -e 'select user from user' mysql | grep -q
  ^mysqltop$
   then
   echo User already exists;
   else
   create_user
   fi
   fi

I believe this could work since you can might have you DB in another
computer and not running locally. Otherwise, mtop should depend on
mysql-server.

Also, I added dbconfig-common as a dependency to manage the DB, but
can be removed to solve this particular bug.

Anyway, I attached the diff hoping that it will explain the idea better
than me :-)

Mauro

Bug#593967: Subject: ITP: python-oauth2 -- An interface to create OAuth clients and servers.

2010-08-22 Thread Mauro Lizaur
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Mauro Lizaur ma...@debian.org

* Package name: python-oauth2
  Version : 1.2.1
  Upstream Author : SimpleGeo Inc. t...@simplegeo.com
* URL : http://github.com/simplegeo/python-oauth2
* License : MIT License
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : A fully tested, abstract interface to creating OAuth
clients and servers.

This code was originally forked from Leah Culver and Andy Smith's oauth.py
code. Some of the tests come from a fork by Vic Fryzel, while a revamped
Request class and more tests were merged in from Mark Paschal's fork.
A number of notable differences exist between this code and its forefathers:

* 100% unit test coverage.
* The DataStore object has been completely ripped out. While creating
  unit tests for the library I found several substantial bugs with the
  implementation and confirmed with Andy Smith that it was never fully
  baked.
* Classes are no longer prefixed with OAuth.
* The Request class now extends from dict.
* The library is likely no longer compatible with Python 2.3.
* The Client class works and extends from httplib2. It's a thin wrapper
  that handles automatically signing any normal HTTP request you might
  wish to make.

 Hi,

 I switched dependency on python-numeric to python-numpy because codebase
 contains already a import case for numpy and bumped to a newer standard
 version but some effort has to be taken to fix lintian warnings. Nevertheless
 here the link to my non-maintainer package upload:

 http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/pykaraoke/pykaraoke_0.7.1-1.1.dsc

Hi there,
Perhaps you might want to commit the changes that you've made to the PAPT svn
to avoid stepping over other people's work (or the other way around).

and perhaps you've been busy.
Either way, I'll attach a debdiff with the changes made to solve this.

thanks

I'm sorry to announce that I'll have to drop my intention to maintain
this package: I've been running into too many difficulties (and little
time to dedicate) to maintain this simple piece of software (most of
them, with the new release: 0.9.2), so probably this might be an indication
that I won't be a good maintainer for gmrun after all and I prefer to leave
the task open to somebody else.
On the other hand, I can still provide the work I've done so far fixing
most of the open bugs (for release 0.9.1).

 The same issue happens to this model.
 So far, i made it work by adding:
 options snd-hda-intel model=targa-dig
 to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

 We can't provide individual solutions. It is well described in
 /usr/share/doc/alsa-base/README.Debian.gz how to load sounddrivers
 with their respective options which can be found by modinfo(8).

 So this is not a bug and has to be closed.

You're right, besides this kind of workaround would fit better on the
Debian Wiki probably.

Bug#539604: qa.debian.org: Wrong dates on wnpp bugs

2009-08-02 Thread Mauro Lizaur
Package: qa.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

Hello,
I've just noticed that http://qa.debian.org/wnpp.php?login=$PERSON
displays a wrong amount of days for owned bugs.
I mean, my page [0] shows this line:

# #535627: ITP: python-audiolab -- A python module to make noise from numpy
arrays (30 day(s) old)
[1]

While I just retitled that bug from RFP to ITP on last
Thursday, instead of 30 days this should read 3 days
(Thursday being July 30th and today being August 2nd).
Yes, the origin of the bug is from 30 days ago, but I started to work
on it a few days ago, this is why I consider that this could be a /bug/.

I set the severity to whishlist because perhaps there's a
reason for this behaviour that I'm not aware of.
Feel free to modify the severity or to close this report.

Sure, go ahead.

Alright, let me see how /stable/ it is and i'll upload it.
I didn't do it before because since 2008-07-10 requires simplejson 2.0 to

Yeah, sure.
I think that would be OK to add this theme to the metacity-themes package.
Just remember to report a bug against it with this request as whishlist.

  Note that the Nodoka gtk2 engine[2] is already in Debian.

I think that we both agree that if I add the Nodoka theme to
metacity-themes, this package wouldn't be necessary anymore, so how do
you think you could provide a solution to this /merging/?
I mean, requesting its removal isn't the cleanest solution for me.
Perhaps making a dummy package of this to have metacity-packages as
its dependency?
Though at the same time, if you just want to download Nodoka theme and
nothing else, you might not like having to download the extra
themes... but i don't really know :-)

 Sorry, but I am not sure to understand why they should be merged?
 The existing package is about the gtk2 engine and themes, not for the
 metacity theme (which does not require the engine to work). I mentionned
 this just for completeness, as both gtk2 and metacity themes are
 complementary to get the full Fedora theme.

Bug#520057: awesome: random crashes and restart X

2009-03-16 Thread Mauro Lizaur
Package: awesome
Version: 3.2~rc4-1
Severity: important

First of all, sorry for the lousy subject, but it's exactly what's happening.
I thought it was fault of my rc.lua, but i discarded it because i tried using
the default rc.lua shipped with Debian and crashed too.
This so-called random crash could happen within 15 mins or less of usage,
usually the apps that i have running are: pidgin, xfce4-terminal, iceweasel and
sonata. So I've tried, with no results, not running any of these apps but the
crashes still happened.
The result of 'awesome -k' is Configuration file syntax OK. so i dont really
know what could be.

Oh, BTW. Also i installed 'wicked', but since i'm not using it, i don't think
it has anything to do with these crashes.
So i'll leave as an attach the gdb log and my rc.lua config

Thanks for your work!

Mauro

Bug#519653: liferea: Fails to open links in a new tab when browser is set as 'x-www-browser'

If the Browser chosen in the External Browser Settings is 'x-www-browser',

Bug#517481: when: Typo found while configuring when.

2009-02-27 Thread Mauro Lizaur
Subject: when: Typo
Package: when
Version: 1.1.12-1
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

I was configuring my ~/.when directory to save all my settings of this
program, and i've found a typo when the when configuration is finished,
it says something like:
 ...Ejecuta ``when --help'' para más informació.
When it should say:
 ...Ejecuta ``when --help'' para más información.

Just a missing n :-)
Also, a patch provided :-)

Bug#517216: python-twitter: FTBFS with python-support in experimental

 Hi,

 The python-twitter rules file contains the following:

 $$python setup.py install --root=$(d);\
 done
 …
 dh_pysupport
 sed -i -e '1,2d'
 $(CURDIR)/$(d)/usr/share/python-support/python-twitter/twitter.py

 With the upcoming version of python-support (currently in experimental),
 such statements will make the package FTBFS, since the files are now
 moved to a different directory (/usr/share/pyshared).

 I suggest to do these things before the dh_pysupport call, and from the
 standard installation directory:

 sed -i -e '1,2d' $(CURDIR)/$(d)/lib/python*/site-packages/twitter.py
 dh_pysupport

 I’d add two side notes to that:
   * There is no reason to build an architecture-independent package
 for all Python versions. You can build it for only the current
 one, python-support will byte-compile the modules for all the
 supported ones.
   * Such things could be done in a patch instead of the build
 process, but I guess that’s a matter of taste.

 As a general rule, please do not rely on the internals of python-support
 in the packaging; this will avoid such issues in the future (although
 hopefully there won’t be a need to change the paths any further).

 Thanks,

So you mean that instad of doing:

Bug#517120: awesome: apps starts on then wrong 'tag'

2009-02-25 Thread Mauro Lizaur
Package: awesome
Version: 2.3.4-1
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

I have four 'tags' or virtual-desktops called:
ichi, ni, san, chi (or 1,2,3,4 in japanese)

And when i run sonata, i'd like to be on the fourth tag/v-d ('chi'),
but instead it runs on the first tag/v-d ('ichi').

The problem here is not sonata for that matter, happens with
other programs too. Also, I tried running xprop on sonata to see if was
the case (Sonata instead of sonata) but didn't changed anything.

On #awes...@irc.oftc.net somebody recommend to use the position
of the tag instead of its name (ie: 4 instead of 0chi'), and didn't
worked either.

This is how my rules section of my .awesomerc looks like:
--
 rules
 {
 rule { name = Gimp float = true }
 rule { name = vlc float = true }
 rule { name = pidgin tags = ni }
 rule { name = liferea tags = ni }
 rule { name = sonata tags = chi}
 rule { name = feh float = true }
 }

Bug#506811: pyscrabble-server: Permission denied to write pyscrabble.log

On Tue, 25 Nov 2008, Magnus Holmgren wrote:

  [20:51:16] terminaldelmal:~$ pyscrabble-server

  IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/pyscrabble/pyscrabble.log'

 That's because I've built the pyscrabble-server package so that
 pyscrabble-server can be started automatically from /etc/init.d/pyscrabble,
 running under a dedicated account pyscrabble. I did not mean for it to be
 run manually. There should be more information
 in /usr/share/doc/pyscrabble-server/README.Debian.

My bad for not asking about this issue. Sorry.

  I tried changing the owner of this file (me:me), and i'm still getting the
  same error.
  Also, i tried executing it as root (not the brightest ideas, but..) and i
  got this:

  [20:53:35] terminaldelmal:~# pyscrabble-server
  bash: pyscrabble-server: command not found

 That's because /usr/games is not normally in root's $PATH. It might have been
 a mistake to install pyscrabble-server in /usr/games. It's possible that it
 should have been installed in /usr/sbin even though it's a game server. It
 might have reduced confusion.

Ok, i've seen your other email asking about the path to install game servers.

Thanks for your work,
Mauro

 Let's ask the Debian l10n Spanish team. Folks:

He's right, but I wouldn't call 'vulgar spelling and careless pronunciation'
to the translation of 'replaces'.
I mean, September in spanish could be 'Septiembre' or 'Setiembre', and both

 So, the correct spelling is still Reemplazar, right?

 And, therefore the patch is OK?

+1 for me, but I would wait for another opinion, though.
Basically to check that the majority are Ok with this change.

Bug#501169: tzdata has moved the GMT from -3 to -2.

2008-10-04 Thread Mauro Lizaur
Package: tzdata
Version: 2008e-3
Severity: normal

Argentina's timezone is GMT -3, but tzdata gives GMT -2,
So instead of the clock has moved one hour forward, and
the daylight saving (or 'summer time') doesn't starts
until next summer (in aprox, 3 months).

Installing tzdata from unstable, appearently fixes this
issue though.

The version 1.0+dfsg-2 of rott hangs after pressing any key

Also, if you opened this game from the command line, blocks
it and you're unable to recover it.

I'm using amd64 too.

Bug#490269: wdm: Fake Debian logo on default theme

2008-07-10 Thread Mauro Lizaur
Package: wdm
Version: 1.28-3
Severity: minor

The Debian logo that appears in the WDM default theme is the so-called
fake logo. [0]

According to this mail [1], the fake logo [2] has the 'outer tail'
thicker than the normal one [3]

Also, the font in the fake logo is not correct either. To fix this
problem, is possible to use the true type font Laudatio C [4] or use
an SVG version available on debianart.org [5]

It's not a *big* deal the wrong logo, but would be nice to solve this
little problem since this false logo is circulating since (at least)
2006, and certainly is not correct.

Regards,
Mauro

Bug#486024: ee -- RoQA; upstream dead; outdated;

2008-06-12 Thread Mauro Lizaur
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

FTP-Masters,

I'm requesting the removal of the package ee because of the following
reasons:
* This package is *outdated*, in the Debian repositories the last
release uploaded is 1.4.2 (19-Jan-2001) meanwhile the last release of
this program is the 1.4.6 (22-Sep-2002).
* The upstream is dead. The last release has at least 5 years old, as i
said above.
* ee stands for easy editor, and being a console based text editor
looses all its 'easiness' against graphic text editors like gedit[0] (in
GNOME), mousepad [1] (in XFCE) or kedit [2] (in KDE) to name a few.
* Also, i requested to adopt this package and built it with the last
version [3], but i got no response when i asked about sponsoring this
package. Actually a couple of DD's adviced me to ask for its removal.

 twitter API wrapper for Python

 - avoids leading article
 - puts the most important info at the beginning
 - proper capitalization of Python

 Maybe capitalize Twitter in case that project or thing (I have no
 idea what this might be) needs it.

Thanks Christian,
i've already fixed this in the package that i'm building.
