Bug#587749: Upstream fixes available
2010-12-16, Robert Lange: Are there any plans to release an new debian package for python-twitter with OAuth support? Hi Robert, Not for the stable release because of this oauth issue. BTW: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=587749#20 One of the things that stoped me from finally uploading it was the lack of oauth python library available on Debian, which now is available [0], so I'll work/upload a new version of python-twitter the following days. Bug#595820: ITP: woof -- A small, simple, stupid webserver to share files
2010-09-07, Stefano Zacchiroli: [ adding back the ITP to Cc: ] On Tue, Sep 07, 2010 at 10:56:15AM +0200, Salvo Tomaselli wrote: The default installation of lighttpd would put itself in the autostart, maybe i just wanted to share a file and it would take time for me to change the configuration for avoiding autostart and create a new config file. And of course i should also know how to do that. Fair enough. Note that nobody here is saying thou shall not package this. We are just very cautious because adding a new web server to the archive might easily become a security PITA (ask the security team for some horror stories on the subject of yet another web server). So what we are saying is just that it should be worth it wrt other software offerings already in the archive. On a related topic, please remember that long descriptions are meant to help sysadms to decide whether they want to install a package or not. In this specific case, and giving the availability of competitor tools, your long description should explain why one might want to prefer woof over other packages. +1 [plus] 2010-09-07, Andrea Gasparini: Such as: $ python -m SimpleHTTPServer [port] Thanks Mauro, we could drop all our webservers, now. :) I guess we could, but it wouldn't be a very smart move to be honest. Please, read the paragraphs written by Stefano, he made some interesting points. Also what I meant with that line was that when I need to copy a file to (let's say) my cellphone in a simple (and/or stupid) way, this can easily be achieved with that Python module. But at the same time, waiting for you to answer the question we all have: What does it do? Proptip: Perhaps the usage of the following words might help you to convince us all. * scalable (This one is a sure-shot) * non-blocking * über-fast * «web2.0 ready» (I guess this one is kinda demodé these days anyway) * «Sarcasm inside» (Hope Intel doesn't get mad over this) Saludos, Mauro -- JID: lavaram...@nube.usla.org.ar | http://lizaur.github.com/ 2B82 A38D 1BA5 847A A74D 6C34 6AB7 9ED6 C8FD F9C1 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#595588: mtop: fails to install
Hi, Adding a few checks in the post{inst,rm} scripts would prevent the package of failing to install. Something like this: is_mysql_running() { if [ -f /usr/bin/mysql ]; then if [ $(echo exit|LANG=C mysql -h ${mysql_server} -P ${mysql_port} -u${root_mysql} ${mysqlpwd} 21|grep ^ERROR) != ]; then echo WARNING: Can't connect to MySQL.; echo Perhaps you might want to use it other host?; fi fi } [...] IMR=$(is_mysql_running) if [ $IMR != ]; then echo $IMR; else mysqlcmd=mysql -h ${mysql_server} -P ${mysql_port} -u${root_mysql} ${mysqlpwd} if ${mysqlcmd} -B -e 'select user from user' mysql | grep -q ^mysqltop$ then echo User already exists; else create_user fi fi I believe this could work since you can might have you DB in another computer and not running locally. Otherwise, mtop should depend on mysql-server. Also, I added dbconfig-common as a dependency to manage the DB, but can be removed to solve this particular bug. Anyway, I attached the diff hoping that it will explain the idea better than me :-) Saludos, Mauro -- JID: lavaram...@nube.usla.org.ar | http://lizaur.github.com/ 2B82 A38D 1BA5 847A A74D 6C34 6AB7 9ED6 C8FD F9C1 diff -urNad mtop/mtop-0.6.6/debian/control mtop-modified/mtop-0.6.6/debian/control --- mtop/mtop-0.6.6/debian/control 2010-09-07 01:07:54.0 + +++ mtop-modified/mtop-0.6.6/debian/control 2010-09-07 00:41:16.0 + @@ -8,7 +8,7 @@ Package: mtop Architecture: all -Depends: ${perl:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, libcurses-perl, libdbd-mysql-perl, libnet-perl, mysql-client +Depends: ${perl:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, libcurses-perl, libdbd-mysql-perl, libnet-perl, mysql-client, dbconfig-common Recommends: mysql-server Description: MySQL terminal based query monitor mtop (MySQL top) monitors a MySQL database showing the queries which diff -urNad mtop/mtop-0.6.6/debian/mtop.postinst mtop-modified/mtop-0.6.6/debian/mtop.postinst --- mtop/mtop-0.6.6/debian/mtop.postinst 2010-09-07 01:07:54.0 + +++ mtop-modified/mtop-0.6.6/debian/mtop.postinst 2010-09-07 01:05:13.0 + @@ -5,6 +5,17 @@ set -e +is_mysql_running() +{ + if [ -f /usr/bin/mysql ]; then + if [ $(echo exit|LANG=C mysql -h ${mysql_server} -P ${mysql_port} -u${root_mysql} ${mysqlpwd} 21|grep ^ERROR) != ]; + then + echo WARNING: Can't connect to MySQL.; + echo Perhaps you might want to use it other host?; + fi + fi +} + get_config() { db_get mtop/mysql_server @@ -49,6 +60,10 @@ configure) # Source debconf library . /usr/share/debconf/confmodule + . /usr/share/dbconfig-common/dpkg/postinst.mysql + if ! dbc_go mtop $@ ; then + echo 'Automatic configuration using dbconfig-common failed!' + fi db_version 2.0 get_config @@ -56,12 +71,17 @@ if [ $root_passwd != 'none' ]; then mysqlpwd=-p${root_passwd} fi -mysqlcmd=mysql -h ${mysql_server} -P ${mysql_port} -u${root_mysql} ${mysqlpwd} - if ${mysqlcmd} -B -e 'select user from user' mysql | grep -q ^mysqltop$ - then - echo User already exists; + IMR=$(is_mysql_running) + if [ $IMR != ]; then + echo $IMR; else +mysqlcmd=mysql -h ${mysql_server} -P ${mysql_port} -u${root_mysql} ${mysqlpwd} + if ${mysqlcmd} -B -e 'select user from user' mysql | grep -q ^mysqltop$ + then + echo User already exists; + else create_user + fi fi ;; diff -urNad mtop/mtop-0.6.6/debian/mtop.postrm mtop-modified/mtop-0.6.6/debian/mtop.postrm --- mtop/mtop-0.6.6/debian/mtop.postrm 2010-09-07 01:07:54.0 + +++ mtop-modified/mtop-0.6.6/debian/mtop.postrm 2010-09-07 01:06:26.0 + @@ -5,6 +5,17 @@ set -e +is_mysql_running() +{ + if [ -f /usr/bin/mysql ]; then + if [ $(echo exit|LANG=C mysql -h ${mysql_server} -P ${mysql_port} -u${root_mysql} ${mysqlpwd} 21|grep ^ERROR) != ]; + then + echo WARNING: Can't connect to MySQL.; + echo Perhaps you might want to use it other host?; + fi + fi +} + get_config() { db_get mtop/mysql_server @@ -45,6 +56,10 @@ if [ -f /usr/share/debconf/confmodule ] [ -f /usr/bin/mysql ]; then . /usr/share/debconf/confmodule + if [ -f /usr/share/dbconfig-common/dpkg/postrm.mysql ]; then + . /usr/share/dbconfig-common/dpkg/postrm.mysql + dbc_go mtop $@ + fi db_version 2.0 get_config @@ -52,10 +67,15 @@ if [ $root_passwd != 'none' ]; then mysqlpwd=-p${root_passwd} fi - mysqlcmd=mysql -h ${mysql_server} -P ${mysql_port} -u${root_mysql} ${mysqlpwd} - if ${mysqlcmd} -B -e 'select user from user' mysql | grep -q ^mysqltop$ - then + IMR=$(is_mysql_running) + if [ $IMR != ]; then + echo $IMR; + else + mysqlcmd=mysql -h ${mysql_server} -P ${mysql_port} -u${root_mysql} ${mysqlpwd} + if ${mysqlcmd} -B -e 'select

Bug#593967: Subject: ITP: python-oauth2 -- An interface to create OAuth clients and servers.
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Mauro Lizaur ma...@debian.org * Package name: python-oauth2 Version : 1.2.1 Upstream Author : SimpleGeo Inc. t...@simplegeo.com * URL : http://github.com/simplegeo/python-oauth2 * License : MIT License Programming Lang: Python Description : A fully tested, abstract interface to creating OAuth clients and servers. This code was originally forked from Leah Culver and Andy Smith's oauth.py code. Some of the tests come from a fork by Vic Fryzel, while a revamped Request class and more tests were merged in from Mark Paschal's fork. A number of notable differences exist between this code and its forefathers: * 100% unit test coverage. * The DataStore object has been completely ripped out. While creating unit tests for the library I found several substantial bugs with the implementation and confirmed with Andy Smith that it was never fully baked. * Classes are no longer prefixed with OAuth. * The Request class now extends from dict. * The library is likely no longer compatible with Python 2.3. * The Client class works and extends from httplib2. It's a thin wrapper that handles automatically signing any normal HTTP request you might wish to make. Bug#471322: (no subject)
noowner 471322 thanks I'm sorry to announce that I'll have to drop my intention to maintain this package: I've been running into too many difficulties (and little time to dedicate) to maintain this simple piece of software (most of them, with the new release: 0.9.2), so probably this might be an indication that I won't be a good maintainer for gmrun after all and I prefer to leave the task open to somebody else. On the other hand, I can still provide the work I've done so far fixing most of the open bugs (for release 0.9.1). It is well described in /usr/share/doc/alsa-base/README.Debian.gz how to load sounddrivers with their respective options which can be found by modinfo(8). So this is not a bug and has to be closed. You're right, besides this kind of workaround would fit better on the Debian Wiki probably. Bug#520057: awesome: random crashes and restart X
Package: awesome Version: 3.2~rc4-1 Severity: important First of all, sorry for the lousy subject, but it's exactly what's happening. I thought it was fault of my rc.lua, but i discarded it because i tried using the default rc.lua shipped with Debian and crashed too. This so-called random crash could happen within 15 mins or less of usage, usually the apps that i have running are: pidgin, xfce4-terminal, iceweasel and sonata. Bug#490269: wdm: Fake Debian logo on default theme
Package: wdm Version: 1.28-3 Severity: minor The Debian logo that appears in the WDM default theme is the so-called fake logo. [0] According to this mail [1], the fake logo [2] has the 'outer tail' thicker than the normal one [3] Also, the font in the fake logo is not correct either. To fix this problem, is possible to use the true type font Laudatio C [4] or use an SVG version available on debianart.org [5] It's not a *big* deal the wrong logo, but would be nice to solve this little problem since this false logo is circulating since (at least) 2006, and certainly is not correct. The last release has at least 5 years old, as i said above. * ee stands for easy editor, and being a console based text editor looses all its 'easiness' against graphic text editors like gedit[0] (in GNOME), mousepad [1] (in XFCE) or kedit [2] (in KDE) to name a few. * Also, i requested to adopt this package and built it with the last version [3], but i got no response when i asked about sponsoring this package.
