Bug#1072491: Dead keys stopped working in unspecified environment
Hi all, First: - DE is Cinnamon. - DM is lightdm. - Keyboard model is Generic 105-key PC - keyboard layout is Danish - AltGr function is default - Compose key is 'Meny key' I have now tried installing and uninstalling gnome-session-bin which have no effect so that cannot be the cause. Changing DE from Cinnamon to XFCE4 and dead key works. Creating a new user and using this user session in both Cinnamon and XFCE4 and dead key works in both DE. Conclusion: My Cinnamon DE using my old user must have gone haywire somehow so I have created a new user and therefore this bug can be closed with solution 'works here, must be user error' ;-) Sore to all for the noise. -- Hilsen/Regards Michael Rasmussen Get my public GnuPG keys: michael rasmussen cc https://keys.openpgp.org/vks/v1/by-fingerprint/A1306C5094B5E31B7721A3A66F4844C7CA7501AA mir datanom net https://keys.openpgp.org/vks/v1/by-fingerprint/0C14CD9479667E848770C8F98417B6C5E1BB093F mir miras org https://keys.openpgp.org/vks/v1/by-fingerprint/5F71405B571CB8EE2A414A4FC77C11E049A06E66 -- 'During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.' -George Orwell Don't just echo the code with comments - make every comment count. - The Elements of Programming Style (Kernighan & Plaugher) This mail was virus scanned and spam checked before delivery. Bug#1072491: Acknowledgement (libglib2.0-0t64: Dead keys stopped working, again!)
Found the reason to dead keys stopped working, but why it happened I have no idea. Reason: Either the package gnome-session-bin was uninstalled or gnome-session-bin is now a requirement for working dead keys? I have not myself uninstalled gnome-session-bin! -- Hilsen/Regards Michael Rasmussen Get my public GnuPG keys: michael rasmussen cc https://keys.openpgp.org/vks/v1/by-fingerprint/A1306C5094B5E31B7721A3A66F4844C7CA7501AA mir datanom net https://keys.openpgp.org/vks/v1/by-fingerprint/0C14CD9479667E848770C8F98417B6C5E1BB093F mir miras org https://keys.openpgp.org/vks/v1/by-fingerprint/5F71405B571CB8EE2A414A4FC77C11E049A06E66 -- 'During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.' -George Orwell /usr/games/fortune -es says: If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something. pgpVPC2BRex80.pgp Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#1051496: mailgraph: does not support the new syslog format
Hi all, I can confirm what Michael in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1051496#22 writes that that mailgraph neither works in 1.14.20 nor in 1.14.21 the patch provided by Vincent Lefevre is not added to mailgraph so this bug so be raised to 'package unusable' accordingly. Proof: Apply patch provided by Vincent Lefevre to /usr/sbin/mailgraph which will be applied cleanly. Bug#742547: vlan: Fixing #705456 introduces a regression
On Tue, 25 Mar 2014 08:12:14 +0100 ard a...@kwaak.net wrote: Hmmm, actually I am a little bit surprised that the mere mentioning of eth1.20 in the bridge configuration automagically creates eth1.20. I would suspect that the first 2 lines should be: auto eth1.20 iface eth1.20 inet manual As that would create an eth1.20 in the up state. Actually, that's how I do it ;-). On the other hand, the bridges should either not get created at all, or created without ports, or somewhere in between. If it attaches eth1 instead of nothing at all, that would be a grave bug. From vlan-interfaces(5): vlan-raw-device devicename Indicates the device to create the vlan on. This is ignored when the devicename is part of the vlan interface name. From bridge-utils-interfaces(5): bridge_ports interface specification this option must exist for the scripts to setup the bridge, with it you specify the ports you want to add to your bridge, either using none if you want a bridge without any interfaces or you want to add them later using brctl, or a list of the interfaces you want to add separated by spaces, for example: bridge_ports eth0 eth4 You should not put any lines to configure the interfaces that will be used by the bridge, as this will be setup automatically by the scripts when bringing the bridge up. If you need to specify the interfaces more flexibly, you can use the following syn‐ tax (most useful on a Xen dom0): bridge_ports regex (eth|vif).* This means to evaluate (as in egrep(1)) the expressions that follow after regex until either the end or a noregex statement is reached. The regular expressions are evaluated against all local interfaces and those that match are added. Specifying all is short for regex eth.* em.* p[0-9].* noregex and will get all the ethX and biosdevname-format (emX and pX) interfaces added to the bridge. -- Hilsen/Regards Michael Rasmussen Get my public GnuPG keys: michael at rasmussen dot cc http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=getsearch=0xD3C9A00E mir at datanom dot net http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=getsearch=0xE501F51C mir at miras dot org http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=getsearch=0xE3E80917 -- /usr/games/fortune -es says: If I were to walk on water, the press would say I'm only doing it because I can't swim. -- Bob Stanfield signature.asc Description: PGP signature
Bug#742547: vlan: Fixing #705456 introduces a regression
Package: vlan Version: 1.9-3.1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, After the patch has been applied fixing bug #705456 breaks configuration which worked and was perfectly correct before. Applying a patch to fix a problem should never cause valid uses of the package before suddenly stop working. Prior to vlan version 1.9-3.1 the following config worked as intended: # The vlan carrying interface auto eth1 iface eth1 inet manual auto vmbr20 iface vmbr20 inet static address 172.16.2.60 netmask 255.255.255.0 bridge_ports eth1.20 bridge_stp off bridge_fd 0 bridge_maxwait 5 auto vmbr30 iface vmbr30 inet static address 172.16.3.60 netmask 255.255.255.0 bridge_ports eth1.30 bridge_stp off bridge_fd 0 bridge_maxwait 5 But after applying diff to fix bug #705456 the vlan's are not crated causing bridges to be created untagged which breaks networking. To have it working again you are now forced to add vlan-raw-device configuration which should not be needed according to manual. See below. # The vlan carrying interface auto eth1 iface eth1 inet manual auto vmbr20 iface vmbr20 inet static address 172.16.2.60 netmask 255.255.255.0 bridge_ports eth1.20 bridge_stp off bridge_fd 0 bridge_maxwait 5 vlan-raw-device eth1 auto vmbr30 iface vmbr30 inet static address 172.16.3.60 netmask 255.255.255.0 bridge_ports eth1.30 bridge_stp off bridge_fd 0 bridge_maxwait 5 vlan-raw-device eth1 -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.13-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages vlan depends on: ii iproute2 3.12.0-2 ii libc6 2.18-4 vlan recommends no packages. vlan suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. If it was prior to BDB 4.8, then you have to do a slapcat/slapadd of the database (I assume that's already being done), but before that, it is critical to completely checkpoint the database via db_recover (one of the steps taken above). I think this is the key question. Apparently the db-tools cannot handle a migration from = 4.7 to 4.8 in which case the only reliable way to do this is slapcat/slapadd. Luckily the ldap database on this machine is only running in development mode so it doesn't matter whether it is nuked or not. For a Lenny-Squeeze upgrade this situation is totally unacceptable so this needs to be fixed in a way to have the slapcat/sladadd done automatically or thorough instructions must be presented to the user to do this manually. I did not do slapcat/slapadd prior to the upgrade so down slapcat gives this output every time: slapcat hdb_db_open: database dc=datanom,dc=net: unclean shutdown detected; attempting recovery. hdb_db_open: database dc=datanom,dc=net: recovery skipped in read-only mode. Run manual recovery if errors are encountered. -- Hilsen/Regards Michael Rasmussen Get my public GnuPG keys: michael at rasmussen dot cc http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=getsearch=0xD3C9A00E mir at datanom dot net http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=getsearch=0xE501F51C mir at miras dot org http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=getsearch=0xE3E80917 -- Choose a data representation that makes the program simple. - The Elements of Programming Style (Kernighan Plaugher) signature.asc Description: PGP signature
