Bug#858896: Very fequent crashes

Hi,
unsure whether this is the same problem. I get very frequent crashes (>5
per day), at random interval, not associated with any particular action.
This is serious as I frequently lose the typed messages.
I'm available for further test as directed.
Thanks.

I may have connection issues here. Switching to a different network
improved the situation. Other programs, however, beahved well.
The whole issue might be due to the carrying over of old configs (I'm
using icedove since many years). Is there a guide on which files can be
safely removed without missing my connection info?
Thanks.

Now Icedove takes a long time to start, but then it seems to run

Apparently it is a single calendar[0] who is causing most trouble -
deactivating it makes the program usable.

2014-01-05 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Solved by:
* commenting out everything in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10apt-listbugs
* installing ruby (which switches to 1.9).
Thanks. Still, the transition should be smoother IMHO.

 Paolo,

Can you try to reinstall the package.
It seems something is wrong on your system. On my system the module
 (libtransect)
 installed just fine.

Also note that librecreations contains only modules that can be run from the
 GUI, so
the message that it does not contain executable modules is correct.

And why are you reporting that now? Since when did it happen (if you still
 remember)?

Because I did not really used it, just quickly tested, and I assumed I
did something wrong. I just remeber having tried possibly one year ago,
that's all, sorry.

Can't be that serious as you were able to live with it for a long time :-)

It's just one shot, converting all our sx? to od?. When/if the sx?
support will be dropped (from libreoffice?), the problems will arise,
not only for me.
If this will not happen, then I agree it's not serious.
Thanks a lot for your work.

Bug#600902: add RSS to http://www.debian.org/users/

2010-10-21 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Package: www.debian.org
It would be good to add an RSS feed to the page of users, so I can keep upaded
of the
changes.
Furthermore, the page http://io.debian.net/~tar/debian-worldmap/ has dead links
and
unappropriate ones (I would replace them with http://www.geonames.org/).
The map would better be replaced with an OpenLayers+OpenStreetMap one, see
http://www.faunalia.it/ufficio/lavori/index.php for an example.
Thanks.

Bug#600308: qgis: package will be updated to 1.5 'Tethys' ?

Hi Samy.
Which bugs are you referring to? Have you filed a ticket for them?

Bug#554908: OGR_ORGANIZE_POLYGONS=SKIP may speed up loading of shapefiles

2009-11-07 Thread Paolo Cavallini

Package: libgdal1-1.6.0

Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***
Apparently OGR's shapefile driver for reading polgyon rings and correctly
assigning them as inner, or outer rings and for which component of a
multipolygon for some complex polygon files is quite expensive. It may be
possible to define OGR_ORGANIZE_POLYGONS in the environment with the value
SKIP to avoid this work.

Bug#496922: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome: mouse cursor disappeared after upgrade

2008-09-01 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Hi all.
Thanks for taking the issue.

Raphael Geissert ha scritto:

 Justification: renders package unusable

 No, it doesn't.

At least for me, it does (unless you can guess the mouse posion by
imagination...)

Like Julien said, upgrade of what?
1:0.2.902+svn570-1 1:0.2.902+svn579-1

If you were using xserver-xorg's PCI cards detection you would require
version +579 to be installed as it is the second version ever in
Debian and the first one with the required file to detect the PCI
cards that openchrome can handle; and there has been no upload after
 +svn579, yet.
Besides that I can not see any change between 570 and 579 that would
cause such a problem, but correct me if I'm wrong.

The problem seems to lay there.

Anyway, please provide some more information like what kind of card
you have, the /var/log/Xorg.log.0 file when you actually tried
 openchrome and not vesa, etc.

Everything seems to be on:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=496922
Do you need anything else?

All the best, and many thanks.

2008-08-28 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Package: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome
Version: 1:0.2.902+svn579-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After the last upgrade, the driver causes the mouse pointer to
disappear. The pointer is working, just not visible.
Going back to vesa cured the problem, but the package itself is useless.

Bug#474626: [DebianGIS-dev] Bug#474626: #474626: still happens here

2008-07-07 Thread Paolo Cavallini

I'm just back from the Libre Software Meeting, where I fell in love
with Openstreetmap. I'm trying to use JOSM, but I run into the same
bug as reported as #474626. This is with an up-to-date sid system,
running either JAVACMD=/usr/bin/jamvm josm or josm directly.

I do not like josm very much; that's why we started a plugin for QGIS:
http://wiki.qgis.org/qgiswiki/PythonPluginIdeas#head-6f5c6c46a0930014519a5ca394a3f9fc2a6db899
Perhaps somone would like to collaborate?
All the best.

Bug#470730: [DebianGIS-dev] Bug#470730: qgis-plugin-grass: QGis crashes if a GRASS vector is faulty

When trying to open a GRASS vector which for some reason is not ok, i.e.

ok, the whole QGis crashes. This is *irritating*, this kind of exception
should be handled in a more appropriate fashion.

Personally I don't think so, apt-get and aptitude still will install
postgresql per default as it's recommended, but I won't argue against you as
 the submitter :-)

Sorry, I do not have a platform to test a new install, but during the

was solved (but I was unsure, that's why I wrote I think).

Bug#407487: qtconfig

2007-04-16 Thread Paolo Cavallini
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

The bug seems related to qtconfig-qt4: also the dialog of qtconfig-qt4
is garbled, however when choosing a font this dialog goes well, but
lastfm does not. I nfirm thet the new version from
http://people.igalia.com/berto/ works well.
This happens to me only on a xfce PC.
On machines with kde installed, no problem.

Bug#346475: problems with 64bits

2007-04-12 Thread Paolo Cavallini
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

The package is now updated. I think a package would be now even more
useful, because the current version available from their web site does
not work with 64 bit machines:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=76096
packaging it could solve the problem, even though in our setting we
might still have problems sharing our /home on different archs.

 Hi,

This doesn't seem related to bug#397485.

Your log shows that you don't have an agpgart device, which is required
by your card for memory allocation (see the manpage).

(II) I810(0): detected 7676 kB stolen memory.
(EE) GARTInit: Unable to open /dev/agpgart (No such file or directory)
(WW) I810(0): /dev/agpgart is either not available, or no memory is
available for allocation. Using pre-allocated memory only.
 (--) I810(0): Pre-allocated VideoRAM: 7676 kByte

7M is clearly not enough memory for X to be able to start. You need to
use the agpgart (and intel_agp, I guess) kernel modules.

 Cheers,
 Julien

Bug#399828: gpstrans: Segfault

2006-11-22 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Package: gpstrans
Version: 0.40-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

In our setting, gpstrans just segfaults, both when used from GRASS:
/usr/local/grass-6.2.1cvs/scripts/v.in.garmin: line 212: 8418 Segmentation
fault
gpstrans $GPSPORT -dw $TMP.gpst 2/dev/null
and when used alone.
This makes the package unusable. I already reported the bug, but apparently it
is still there.
We're ready for further testing.
