Have you tested that this patch actually fixes this bug, or are you just assuming that, based on the commits upstream? Tested. It doesn't fix the problem for non-qt applications, but for qt/kde applications. Bug#561992: [astyle] Linux style isn't the one used kernel
Package: astyle Version: 1.23-1 Severity: normal I wanted to use astyle to format my sources for the linux kernel. I noticed that it is really not what I would expect. For comparison use linux-2.6/scripts/Lindent. I used `astyle --style=linux` for my tests which was described as Also known as Kernel Normal Form (KNF) style, this is the style used in the Linux kernel. First thing I noticed is that astyle uses 8 spaces for indention instead of a tab which should have a with of 8 spaces in an editor. Adding `--indent=tab=8` didn't help. Also { after a function starts at the same line like the function header when the return type is a 'struct' like struct list - which isn't the style used in the kernel. It doesn't look like 80 line width is used like in indent. There are many other things I haven't completely understood yet. For example Lindent: if (NULL != (val = xmlNodeGetContent(cur_node-children))) { used_val = 0; astyle: if (NULL != (val = xmlNodeGetContent(cur_node-children))) { used_val = 0; --- System information. --- Architecture: amd64 Kernel: Linux 2.6.31-1-amd64 Debian Release: squeeze/sid 500 unstableftp.debian.org --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ===-+-= libc6(= 2.2.5) | 2.10.2-2 libgcc1(= 1:4.1.1) | 1:4.4.2-6 libstdc++6 (= 4.2.1) | 4.4.2-6 -- Robert Wohlrab -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. The problem is now that grub-probe now tests st_dev of / against st_rdev of the block devices in util/getroot.c find_root_device(..). if (S_ISBLK (st.st_mode) st.st_rdev == dev) Here the complete struct stat of /dev/sda3 1: st = { st_dev = 13, st_ino = 3243, st_nlink = 1, st_mode = 25008, st_uid = 0, st_gid = 6, __pad0 = 0, st_rdev = 2051, st_size = 0, st_blksize = 4096, st_blocks = 0, st_atim = {tv_sec = 1249898809, tv_nsec = 773817591}, st_mtim = {tv_sec = 1249898809, tv_nsec = 753815550}, st_ctim = {tv_sec = 1249891613, tv_nsec = 405308420}, __unused = {0, 0, 0}} and of / 1: st = { st_dev = 16, st_ino = 256, st_nlink = 1, st_mode = 16877, st_uid = 0, st_gid = 0, __pad0 = 0, st_rdev = 0, st_size = 286, st_blksize = 4096, st_blocks = 8, st_atim = {tv_sec = 1249891701, tv_nsec = 425313494}, st_mtim = {tv_sec = 1249891699, tv_nsec = 353312069}, st_ctim = {tv_sec = 1249891699, tv_nsec = 353312069}, __unused = {0, 0, 0}} --- System information. --- Architecture: amd64 Kernel: Linux 2.6.31-rc5 Debian Release: squeeze/sid 500 unstableftp.debian.org 1 experimentalftp.debian.org --- Package information. --- Depends(Version) | Installed -+- libc6 (= 2.3) | 2.9-23 libfreetype6 (= 2.2.1) | 2.3.9-5 libncurses5 (= 5.6+20071006-3) | 5.7+20090803-1 zlib1g (= 1:1.1.4) | 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-15 base-files (= 4.0.1~) | 5.0.0 Package's Recommends field is empty. Bug#466912: git-buildpackage: add ability to add options got

Hm, maybe other people also want to build your package (backport for example). If they don't have that information then they will end up with a different package (even if it looks quite trivial at the moment). - is .gitattributes shipped with `git clone`? In that case, well, I do not want to modify upstream files... Yes, that is why it was added to export-ignore in my example. And yes, it isn't nice to change upstream files in this way. This is a good reason to introduce a feature for that to gbp. However, it seems that .gitattributes is the only way to specify files to be excluded from `git archive`: really, why the latter does not have any option to tar/zip? :-( Don't understand what you mean. `git archive --format=tar` and `git archive -- format=zip` -- Robert Wohlrab -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#513322: ITP: mupen64plus -- plugin-based N64 emulator
debhelper 7 and call `dh_clean -k`. Don't do that. It is not allowed anymore. Replace this call with `dh_prep` (without the -k). You are also removing top level directory stamp files with rm. Please don't do that either. dh_clean will do it for you. mmm... Plugins gets installed in /usr/share, Shouldn't they go to /usr/lib/mupen64plus (arch dependent files aren't allowed in /usr/share)? I supose that the plugins are not arch dependent files, but, it's true, the path it's not ok. They are arch dependend. They are compiled for a specific architecture thus they must get moved out of /usr/share (you will not be able to run a amd64 plugin on ppc for example). Why does it conflicts with mupen64(-bin)? I cannot find files which would conflict with it and I doubt that there are runtime conflicts. Because mupen64(-bin) is an older version of mupen64, and I think that they should not be together. I find this packages in another unoffical's repos. But they dont share any files at all - their is no need to conflict here. Both can be used on the same machine. I am not sure about unofficial packages conflicts in the policy. Maybe you should check it. Again, more time to work in this one. You will receive a mail about a git repo on alioth. Their was one for mupen64plus thus I asked the owner to import your stuff and maybe fix one or two things. Something I forgot: You have to add XS-Autobuild: true to a non-free package to enable the build infrastructure of debian[2]. Bug#513322: old debian package attempts
It was packaged before and as it has unfree parts it should go to non-free. Instead you should maybe depend on libsamplerate-dev for best quality SINC resampler in jttl_audio. A quick check with licensecheck also reveals that different licenses are used. Try `find | xargs licensecheck |grep -v GPL (v2 or later)`for more informations. big. Try to split the package and make a mupen64plus-common package which is Architecture: all (one source package for all architectures - only include architecture independend files only of course). There is a /usr/share/mupen64plus/doc/ directory. Please move it to /usr/share/doc/mupen64plus Don't install the manpage to /usr/man/man1/mupen64plus.1.gz but to /usr/share/man/man1/mupen64plus.1.gz. Use dh_installman for that purpose. Don't install extra license files. Use debian/copyright and link inside it to the the license files in /usr/share/common-licenses/. If not available then copy the license text inside debian/copyright. Copyright has fields which should have been filled in. Information is missing in copyright file. Copyright of a file (rom) which seems not to be included is specified. Your copyright file is old-style. Please convert it to http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep5/ (dont forget Format-Specification field). Font will be installed - this is a non-font package so don't do that. Depend on ttf-bitstream-vera int the binary package if you really need that font. You create the directory /usr/sbin with debian/dirs but dont install anything to it. /usr/share/applications/mupen64plus.desktop doesn't follow the specification (see encoding which is too much). It is called GTK+ and not GTK (see descriptions). ricevideo.so embeddeds zlib - please use system zlib instead of the embedded one. Differrent other spelling mistakes: recieved - received auxilliary - auxiliary usefull - useful Config files aren't allowed in /usr. Please install them to /etc and change the source code accordanly. The line * Changed to non-free section,... is too long (max. 80 chars). Please use line breaks if a non-header and non-footer line in debian/changelog is too long. You are in non-free/games so you must move /usr/bin/mupen64plus to /usr/games/mupen64plus This package was debianed by Félix Arreola (fgatuno@gmail.com) should not be in in the package description. There are other places (debian/copyright) with such informations. Your name is also part of the control file - no need to be extra proud and add it to the description. I am pretty sure that mupen64plus does not work on all plattforms supported by debian. Please check if it supports more than i386 and amd64 and change Architecture: in debian/control You should upload your package to a source version control system and add Vcs-Browser and Vcs-* field to your debian/control. You can create a *-guest account on alioth[5] and then join collab-maint[6]. Afterwards you can create a repository[7]. Git with git-buildpackage and pristine-tar seems to be a good choice at the moment[8]. This is (not like the rest) not a must - only a good hint. Another good hint is to search a co-maintainer for the package and add him as Uploader to debian/control. You don't provide a menu file for mupen64plus... add one[9] (use dh_installmenu for the installation by debian/rules). You aren't using the configure and configure-stamp target in debian/rules. Remove it then (it isn't needed by anything - and not by the policy). Remove comments like: Sample debian/rules that uses debhelper, Add here commands to..., #docbook-to-man debian/. Remove #dh_ (if it is commented out then it isn't used by you and this means it is not needed). Remove unneeded dh_installexamples. To make it short: too much to do. Please fix everything mentioned above and then try to reupload a new version of the package to mentors. I am currently to weary to write more stuff. Bug#496264: Keeping this one alive
On Friday 03 April 2009 21:54:04 Jussi Pakkanen wrote: Let's not allow this to fall into limbo again. I have not heard from Cognitive people but as far as I know: - there is no (publicly) available source for the dat files - they were in the original source release, which was under BSD, so they should be BSD as well The problem is currently that this stuff are blobs. Debian main should be made from free stuff which can be edited/compiled and so on (see firmware discussion on debian blogs/ml/..). All executables/libraries must have readable sources from which they are compiled (so not be precompiled in orig.tar.gz and then copied over unless it is a interpreted script in a readable form). Images/fonts/sounds are somewhat different. It should be possible to edit them - ask a maintainer of a artworks/ttf/game package in what form they have the raw data in the source package. I would doubt that many of them have the raw tiff/bmp/pcm/psd/xcf/... inside of the package, but the files are still editable with tools inside of debian. A -doc package which installs a pdf should also contain the original (tex/docbook/...) file in the source package so it can be changed without too much hassle. The data files from cuneiform are a mistery for me. A punch of bytes which seem to come from nowhere. I don't know how to generate them, I don't know how to edit them, no documentation what is inside of them (ok, somewhere must be code which reads it, but someone has to write a tool which can extract the data/regenerate the data first). If it is a tool somewhere then please document it. My first guess is that these files holds the recognition patterns used by the ocr. This is something from which we definitely want the source. There was a discussion some time ago about statistical data generated from webpages. At the end most of the people aggreed that it is not possible to do such an analysis each time the package needed to be build, but it had to be done in a way that everyone is able to recreate the data with the same high quality. ... maybe you should ask how it is done by the tesseract guys. I looked at the tesseract-deu-2.00 files and these are binary blobs too, but they are in main. Some training data can be found at the tesseract homepage, but no information if the training data was/can be used to recreate the language specific data. This should definitely added to the source package in a Debian specific readme. Maybe recreating the files from the training data by the source package would be nice too, but I am not sure if it is too cpu intensive or why it wasn't done yet. The training data seems to be done by hand and I can create a training page with tools in debian. I think they should qualify as source files. -- Robert Wohlrab -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#506043: [libfreetype6-dev] pkg-config promotes already fulfilled library dependency
Package: libfreetype6-dev Version: 2.3.7-2 Severity: minor Tags: patch In /usr/lib/pkgconfig/freetype2.pc is the line Libs: -L${libdir} -lfreetype -lz The freetype library is correct here, but the dependency to zlib seems to be wrong for the shared version of the library. I would say that it is better to change it to: - Libs: -L${libdir} -lfreetype -lz + Libs: -L${libdir} -lfreetype + Libs.private: -L${libdir} -lfreetype -lz This will give the right dependencies for the static version when you call pkg-config --static --libs freetype2 and for the shared version pkg-config --libs freetype2 Those changes will hopefully remove many unused dependencies in graphical programs. --- System information. --- Architecture: amd64 Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 Debian Release: lenny/sid 500 unstableftp.debian.org 500 unstabledebian.netcologne.de 1 experimentalftp.debian.org --- Package information. --- Depends(Version) | Installed -+- libfreetype6 (= 2.3.7-2) | 2.3.7-2 libc6-dev| 2.7-16 OR libc-dev | zlib1g-dev | 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-12 OR libz-dev | -- Robert Wohlrab -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#503145: [kmymoney2] GnuPG support does nothing
Package: kmymoney2 Version: 0.9.2-1 Severity: important I tried to enable the buildin gpg support and saved my file. After I tried to open the file again I wasn't asked for my key. Bindings to perl, Except that it can't, because the OCR tool is Cuneiform and ExactImage requires a patched version. Neither Cuniform nor the patch is in Debian ATM. Another ocr tool with hocr support is also possible - but i don't know any other ocr tool in debian with hocr support. Cuneiform is ITP: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=496264 But as I understand it, the patch is unlikely to be accepted in its current form, and will need work upstream to implement the extra command line switches required: http://www.nabble.com/Creating-searchable-PDF-with-ExactImage-0.6-td1951610 9.html The patch is in upstream (in a new form) and cuneiform is packaged with this patch in mentors.
