I've transfered both projects:

- https://salsa.debian.org/debian/qalculate-gtk

And you're set as maintainer.

Bug#984851: O: qalculate-gtk -- Powerful and easy to use desktop calculator

I haven't been able to work on qalculate-gtk for way too long, my
apologies for that, I'm orphaning the package.

It should probably be updated with libqalculate.

Thanks,
Vincent

Sorry for the late answer.

Yes, it'd have been better to get the latest version of both libqalculate and
qalculate-gtk. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to work on them for way too
long, my apologies for that. I'll orphan the packages because it won't likely
change soon.

Yes, there are only a couple of rdepends, and migration wasn't too painful the
few times I did it.

Vincent

Thanks. libqalculate and qalculate-gtk have both been uploaded to
unstable. Would it be possible to schedule rebuilds for the remaining
reverse dependencies please? (cantor plasma-workspace step)

Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hello,

I'd like to request a transition slot for libqalculate.

The new version is in experimental. It has 4 reverse dependencies.
qalculate-gtk has also been uploaded to experimental, and I plan to
upload it to unstable just after libqalculate. The other 3 build fine
with the new version.

Thanks,
Vincent

Bug#912088: RM: gimmix -- ROM; abandoned upstream

2018-10-28 Thread Vincent Legout
Package: ftp.debian.org

Please remove gimmix from the archive. There hasn't been any upload for
4 years, and there is no upstream anymore. There are several other MPD
clients than can be used instead.

Thanks,
Vincent

I didn't explicitly set anything like that, but I guess it could also be
a default configuration in Xen.

Thanks a lot Ben, I can't reproduce the issue with 'nomce'.

The WARNING and BUG disappear if "maxvcpus" is disabled in the guest
configuration (which prevents adding or removing vcpus).

Could cpu hotplug be buggy in 3.16? And Xen triggers this bug after 5
minutes even without doing any 'xl vcpu-set'?

With "maxvcpus" set larger "vcpus", xl vcpu-set seems to work most of
the time (between 1 and 16 vcpus), but after several tries, I got the
attached trace.

Bug#860236: xen pv domU crash with 3.16 kernel and xen 4.8

2017-04-13 Thread Vincent Legout
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.16.39-1+deb8u2
Severity: normal

Hi,

A xen jessie domU crashes around 5 minutes after the boot with the
attached backtrace (at every boot). dom0 is also a Debian jessie running
Xen 4.8.

It only happens when the guest is in pv mode, it works fine with pvhvm.

It also crashes with older 3.16 kernels and 4.0.2-1, but not with
4.2.1-1 (last 2 kernels from snapshot.debian.org).

Hi,

Would it be possible to package the new upstream version? I'd be happy to help
if needed, I've already updated the package for work using the attached patch.

I apologize, I was planning to transition this new package to unstable but
didn't find the time to do so before the transition freeze. I guess it's now too
late for that, and Matthias uploaded a fix for this bug in the meantime (thanks
for that).

Thanks for your work,

Sorry, I don't understand German, but I don't think xboard is the cause
of this, most of the other packages don't seem to be related to
xboard. Are you sure your system wasn't broken before removing xboard?

Does running 'apt-get install -f' help?

collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

With main.c:

#include gtb-probe.h
int main()
{
tb_init(0, 0, NULL);
}

I rebuilt the package and the c file now builds without error. Could you
please request a rebuild or fix this in another way?

Thanks,

Bug#771860: RFS: gnucheese/1.00-1

2014-12-08 Thread Vincent Legout
Hi Michel,

Michel Van den Bergh michel.vandenbe...@uhasselt.be writes:

I am looking for a sponsor for my package gnucheese

I'd be glad to sponsor your package, but I have a few comments
first. Could you please fix them and I'll upload gnucheese.

- I can't download the tar.gz from your website (permission error):

   http://hardy.uhasselt.be/GnuCheese/gnucheese-1.00.tar.gz

- You missed the gtb directory in the debian/copyright file. You need to
include it even if gnucheese is not using it at buildtime. But why
include it in the tarball in the first place? See for example this
wiki page for why including third-party libraries is not recommended:

   https://wiki.debian.org/UpstreamGuide#No_inclusion_of_third_party_code

- AUTHORS doesn't match debian/copyright

- pgheader.c has a MIT license

- You can remove debian/README.Debian and debian/README.source. And I
think also debian/doc, because NEWS and README are automatically
picked by dh_installdocs. And as NEWS and TODO are empty, I'd say you
can remove them from the upstream tarball.

- This lintian info tag could be fixed, just remove the comments in
  debian/watch:

   I: gnucheese source: debian-watch-contains-dh_make-template

- You can also remove the comments in debian/rules

- I see you commented the Vcs-* fields in debian/control. You can join
the collab-maint group on alioth.debian.org if you want to maintain
the package there. Otherwise, I'd say you can remove those 2 lines.

- In Build-Depends, you shouldn't need flex and perl. And libgaviotatb1
can also be removed, you only need to Build-Depends on the -dev
  library.

- I cannot build it, ./configure fails. There is a problem with the
system gtb library. It builds fine if I remove --with-builtin-gtb=no
however. But this should be fixed because the Debian package shouldn't
be built with the embedded copy of gtb.

- It can't be built twice in a row because gnucheese.man is created
during the build. You can remove this file by adding it into
  debian/clean.

- These 2 lintian tags can be fixed:

   gnucheese: spelling-error-in-binary usr/games/gnucheese diplay display
   gnucheese: description-synopsis-might-not-be-phrased-properly

To fix the second one, removing the capitalized M at the beginning of
the short description should be enough.

- I have this message when lauching gnucheese:

   Can't open gnuchess.bin
Unable to find a polyglot book...

while I have gnuchess-book installed. Where does it look for
  gnuchess.bin?

Vincent

long description is currently missing compared to the old tracker (where
 it's displayed in a tooltip).

Is that what you are reporting?

Yes, you're right, I now only see the short description in the

 Hi!

This package is using obsolete absolute paths when stating or calling
dpkg-statoverride. This has been a compatibility symlinks for a while
and got removed in dpkg 1.17.0, I'll reintroduce it in dpkg 1.17.22 but

 Hi,

Thanks for filing the bug and for the patch! I've committed your path
to the Debian Games Team's Subversion repository, uploaded a minimal

 Hi,

I don't want to prevent you from doing work but actually those bugs are
no problem for Jessie. The dpkg maintainer ensured that those packages
will all work for Jessie and reverted the change in dpkg. The release
team specifically asked for that because they didn't want to deal with
another couple of RC bugs. If you now ask for an unblock, they won't get
anything out of it. Hence I suggest to wait until after the freeze or
 upload them to experimental instead.

Well, maybe I should've mentioned that they already did for one of my
own packages - wmanager - in #771160. So I believe that it is quite
possible that they might approve these, too. Of course, I'll file
pre-approval requests if you guys think it might be better, just in
 case.

According to their last email, the release team will accept fixes for
important bugs until December 5th. So I believe they'll accept
gravitywars, I'll upload it in a few minutes.

Peter, could you please request the unblock?

If this unblock is accepted, I should be able to upload the other
packages on Monday or Tuesday.

Bug#770995: unblock: xboard/4.8.0-2

2014-11-25 Thread Vincent Legout
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: unblock

Please unblock package xboard

xboard 4.8.0-1 still uses the old xaw interface and I'd like to upload a
new version 4.8.0-2 to use the new gtk interface. This change has been
requested by upstream because of several bugs with the old interface,
for example some input fields do not work (I don't have any bug report,
sorry).

Would this be allowed to go to jessie?

The only changes between -1 and -2 is that XBoard is now built with
--with-gtk, and it has a new Build-Depends on libgtk-2.0-dev. I haven't
uploaded this new version yet.

Thanks for considering,

Vincent

Bug#764758: Question

2014-10-11 Thread Vincent Legout
Hi,

Henri Salo he...@nerv.fi writes:

Where did you get this This request is also seconded by
upstream information? Web site http://codezen.org/canto-ng/ does not say
anything about it being abandoned status. New section in that page contains
 new posts.

Jack Miller contacted me in private and requested that canto should be
removed from Debian unstable. I thought he was right, the current
version of canto should not be part of the next Debian release because
it's too buggy. That's why I opened this bug.

But you're right, canto is still alive upstream but the version which
was in Debian was several years old and not supported upstream
anymore. The new upstream version is a complete rewrite of canto, and as
I don't use canto anymore, I had no plan to create a new package for
this new version.

Bug#754962: RFS: tiptop/2.2 [ITP] -- performance monitoring for Linux via hardware counters

2014-07-18 Thread Vincent Legout
Hi Tomasz,

Tomasz Buchert tomasz.buch...@inria.fr writes:

I am looking for a sponsor for my package tiptop:

I'm interested in sponsoring tiptop, I just have some comments:

The package doesn't provide the tiptoprc file from upstream. I think it
would make sense to install it somewhere even if it is not used, maybe
in /usr/share/doc/tiptop.

It seems the git repository and the dsc on mentors differ. I think the
git version is correct, you only need to close #754932. The descriptions
are also different.

According to the source files in src/, the copyright is 2011-2014
Inria. Thus I believe you should also add Inria in debian/copyright.

In debian/copyright, tiptop is GPL-2 but you used the text for GPL-2+
(i.e. with or (at your option) any later version). You also have 2
identical paragraphs for the debian/ directory.

I can't build the package twice in a row. Not sure why, but maybe
because these files are not deleted by dh clean: Makefile, config.h,
config.log, config.status and src/Makefile. I didn't investigate too
much but it also seems that running debclean twice in a row fails
because ./configure is removed by dh_autoreconf_clean and is needed in
Makefile.

I think there is a typo in the manpage: s/if forked/is forked/

Could you please fix this and I'll be happy to upload tiptop.

Thanks,
Vincent

Bug#737347: xboard: wish for pre-4.8 snapshot for experimental to get new features more exposure

2014-02-11 Thread Vincent Legout
Hi Yann,

Yann Dirson ydir...@free.fr writes:

4.8 features many new features, including support for new large shogi
variants, and overall better support for non-chess (xboard @shogi
and friends), including the ability for a compatible engine to declare
 itself to xboard.

I have packaged hachu some time ago, as the only available DFSG
program able to play those large variants (I've kept it in
experimental till now, since there is no GUI yet in unstable to play
them). Having a compatible xboard there would allow to start working
on hachu/xboard integration, and to give more precise feedback to
upstream to make sure that those new features are packaging-friendly.

A master-20140119 snapshot was tagged recently, it looks like a good
 version to package.

I've just uploaded this snapshot to experimental. I tried running hachu
and it seems to be working for the mighty lion and cho shogi
variants, but not using the shogi (9x9) variant. Let me know if you need
anything in XBoard to improve the hachu integration.

Bug#731582: canto: command line injection in urls inside feeds

2013-12-08 Thread Vincent Legout
Hi,

the_walrus...@manlymail.net writes:

I have just found a command line injection security vuln in
canto. The program fetches feeds from configured sites, and the
feeds contain URLs that people may want to visit. If a user
starts canto and chooses to go to one URL from one feed, canto
constructs a sh command line to visit the URL, but it doesn't
remove metachars. Therefore a malicious feed (owner turned bad,
man in the middle attack if fetched with http) can put in bad
data in all link and guid elements of the feed and use this to
hack the user when they visit some of the URLs. Not good. See my
conf.py and evil.rss files for an example. Sorry for my English!

Thanks for the report, I confirm that using evil.rss creates a /tmp/1337
file when trying to launch the url in a browser. It doesn't seem to be
fixed upstream.

Bug#725083: xboard: sends level command only to 1 engine

2013-10-02 Thread Vincent Legout
Hi,

folkert folk...@vanheusden.com writes:

 invoking:
 xboard -firstChessProgram ./dn.sh -secondChessProgram ./do.sh

Then starting an engine match between these two with fixed time; each get 5
 seconds per move.
Xboard then only sends to the first chess program the level 40 5 0
 command. This gives a mismatch.

I didn't check the messages sent by XBoard but I just tried with:

 xboard -firstChessProgram gnuchess -secondChessProgram fairymax

And then I launched a new game in two machines mode with 1 second per
move. In this game, each program had 1 second to play and both programs
followed this rule. Thus I'd say they both knew they only had 1 second
per move. Am I missing something ? I'll report the bug upstream if you
confirm the bug.

I think you only need to install sox which is then responsible to play
the wav files, but sox seems to be installed in your system. However,
eboard won't play any sound when you move a piece, you first need to
update the default settings in Settings - Preference - Sounds. You can
also install the eboard-extras-pack1 package which contains some

Oh. I haven't noticed that not all necessary bits are available in unstable.

So, what do you think we should do? Remove qemu from unstable?

I don't know. I'd say there are two options. Wait for libvirt 1.0 to be
uploaded to unstable while keeping unstable broken with qemu 1.5.0. Or
get back to the previous version of qemu and wait for libvirt 1.0 before
uploading qemu 1.5.0 to unstable.

I'd choose the second option, but others may have a different opinion...

The gnuchess package is missing a .desktop file, causing the program

I'm not sure the addition of a desktop file would be useful. It would
just call gnuchess inside a terminal and using it this way is not user
friendly at all. To play against gnuchess, it's much easier to use for
example xboard or pychess. The same applies for the menu file, which I
think could be removed.

I guess your two bugs #695443 and #694920 are related, I'm merging them.

I can reproduce them when running 'LC_ALL=C canto' (or canto-fetch). It
seems you are running a non UTF-8 locale, using something like
en_US.UTF-8 should work. The FAQ covers this point and there is already
a bug report about this in upstream's bug tracker:

To send feeds per email, you could write hooks or keybindings. For more

Bug#669099: FTBFS in up-to-date unstable; test failure

2012-06-30 Thread Vincent Legout
Hi,

I can reproduce this failure on both amd64 and i386. It was fixed in
Ubuntu by disabling the tests.

It seems ggcov now supports amd64 but even if this arch is enabled in
the source package ggcov is not built for amd64 because this file needs
to be updated:

 https://buildd.debian.org/quinn-diff/sid/Packages-arch-specific

A bigger problem is that ggcov does not seem to support gcc 4.7, see for
example the compatibility page on the website. And running ggcov with
gcc-4.7 gives:

main.gcno: unsupported compiler version 4.7(*), contact author for support

Hope that helps,

It seems that -cbc did depend on -vol at a time, but not anymore :

 https://projects.coin-or.org/Cbc/browser/stable/2.7/Dependencies
 https://projects.coin-or.org/Cbc/browser/stable/2.5/Dependencies

I am not sure why the wiki page claims -vol was used in 2.5, as it was
uselessly linked in the previous version :

 https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=coinor-cbcarch=amd64ver=2.5.0-2.3stamp=1324678369

dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on libVol.so.0 could be avoided if

it (they use none of its symbols).
dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: dependency on liblapack.so.3gf could be
avoided if debian/coinor-libcbc0/usr/bin/cbc were not uselessly
linked against it (they use none of its symbols).

It's probably the use of dpkg-buildflags that changed the behaviour,
but I believe that it's correct now. I removed the build-dependencies on
-vol and lapack (which pulled atlas) and it builds fine.

I reuploaded the package, it should be available at the same URL :

Bug#671913: clang: cannot find standard header files

2012-05-08 Thread Vincent Legout
Hi Miles,

Miles Bader mi...@gnu.org writes:

/usr/include/stdio.h:34:11: fatal error: 'stddef.h' file not found

$

It seems you have clang 3.1~+rc1-1 and:

 ii libclang-common-dev 3.0-6
 ii libllvm3.1 3.1~+rc1-3
 ii llvm-3.1-dev 3.1~+rc1-3

I also get this result with this configuration but upgrading
libclang-common-dev to 3.1~+rc1-1 seems to fix the problem.

I guess clang's dependency on libclang-common-dev could be more strict
so that clang and libclang-common-dev would be upgraded together.

Hope that helps,

Vincent

2012-03-31 Thread Vincent Legout
Hi,

After a quick look, I think the new upstream version needs to be
packaged to fix this bug. And the package is currently useless because
audacious does not detect the plugin.

There also seems to be a plugin named ModPlug in audacious-plugins which
may have the same features.

Cheers,
Vincent

Thanks. I'm looking into this. Note that it is completely
architecture-independent (i.e., that it was discovered with

I've just submitted #658577 against libevocosm-dev, because it seems one

However, there must be an bug in acovea too, because acovea doesn't

Bug#553500: blank window workaround patch works only by accident

Hi Monty,

I have a new 'release' of gPlanarity with a few new translations, and
a correct fix to the blank window bug. See:
 http://web.mit.edu/~xiphmont/Public/gPlanarity.html

The fix for this bug suggested in this bug report (553500) is not
correct and works by accident, meaning it could also break at any
 time.

The bug is caused by a restriction/clarification in the GDK/Cairo
interaction API where a cairo target created for a given GDK window is
now only gauranteed to be valid for the span of a single GDK event.
gPlanarity had previously been caching a single cairo_t upon
allocation of the window and attempting to use it for all following
drawing operations. It now allocates a cairo_t for the GDK window on
demand for each drawing op, then discards it. That is the correct fix
 to the bug.

Yes, I know my patch was not ideal. Thanks for fixing this bug properly, I'll
prepare a new package for Debian soon.

In Debian Squeeze gplanarity becomes extremely slow in upper levels of play.
It gets to the point it is not playable where the moving circles are moved

the mouse, but only the mouse pointer moves and the circles have a delay of
about 3 to 5 seconds before the strings and circle moves. This was not a
problem in Debian Lenny. The game was only affected after the upgrade to
Squeeze. Sorry, if I didn't follow a certain format for the report. Any
 questions please reply.

You didn't open a new bug report but posted a comment in a bug which is already
closed and is not related to your problem. Please see

About your problem, I cannot reproduce it with squeeze. Do you have the same
delays when playing other games, or does it happen only with gplanarity ?

This bug makes canto and archivemail FTBFS because debhelper relies on
pyversions.

Example:

(2.6.5-6)
$ pyversions -r
pyversions: missing XS-Python-Version in control file, fall back to
debian/pyversions
[Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'debian/pyversions'

(2.6.5-5)
$ pyversions -r
pyversions: missing XS-Python-Version in control file, fall back to
debian/pyversions
pyversions: missing debian/pyversions file, fall back to supported versions
python2.5 python2.6

The attached patch fixes this problem.

Best Regards,
Vincent

Bug#543934: Thought about joining Debian Python teams ?

I'm a big fan of Canto and a member of the PAPT team. Please contact me
 if you need more information.

Thanks for the pointer. I've applied to join the PAPT. I'll put the package in
the team svn repository once I am accepted.

Hi,

libqalculate-dev reverse build-depends are qalculate-gtk, qalculate-kde and step
and they all have been built against libqalculate5. I guess libqalculate can go
into testing.

The package is right, qalculate belongs to the math section like qalculate-gtk

I have been able to reproduce this bug. I think installing xfonts-100dpi or
