I'm aware that Gitea and Forgejo have their own pros and cons. I meant they both
share a lot of the same dependencies, and those dependencies aren't available in
Debian (yet).

You can see the dependency tree for Gitea at
https://salsa.debian.org/Maytha8/gitea-debian-packaging (white = not packaged).

to me it looks like forgejo has more a full open source (main) spirit?

There's already an RFP for gitea (#935834), which forgejo is based on.

Unfortunately, their work isn't compliant with Debian Policy at all.

I'll look into the missing dependencies needed for packaging this.
