Ideally you can provide a minimal reproducer.
Say start from minimal Debian stable installation (in a VM) and then 
provide the necessary steps how we can trigger this issue.


My guess is, that this is an issue specific to your local configuration 
(fonts, locale, keyboard etc).


I've never seen an issue like this and haven't found anything in the bug 
stream bug tracker at https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues that 
looks related.


What you can also try is to install the systemd v254 version from 
bookworm-backports.
