Bug#1063757:
Could you please also capture the value in /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/turbo_pct when you reproduced the issue?
Bug#1063757:
In that case can you please modify the daemon's systemd unit to run the daemon with -vv in the ExecStart command then share the unit's journal output from a boot this occurs to better understand it?
Bug#1063757:
I removed the NVIDIA driver but the problem persists.
Bug#1063757:
I updated power-profiles-daemon to version 0.21-1 but the problem remains. The value of "/sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo" is 0, so the kernel supports turbo boost. I specify that my laptop also has an NVIDIA GPU.
Bug#1063757:
Can this still reproduce using power-profiles-daemon 0.21-1? It's available in unstable. If so, can you please check the value of "/sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo" at the time of the problem? If the kernel doesn't advertise turbo support then power-profiles-daemon can't do anything about it.
Bug#1063757: power-profiles-daemon: Performance mode does not work due to high operating temperature but the temperature is normal
Package: power-profiles-daemon Version: 0.12-1+b1 Severity: minor X-Debbugs-Cc: matte.mb2006.9...@gmail.com Dear Maintainer, gnome-control-center says performance mode is temporarily disabled due to high operating temperature but the temperature is normal. Due to this bug, Intel Turbo Boost Technology does not work properly. As a result, the CPU frequency does not increase and remains at the base frequency. I don't know if this is a bug in the gnome-control-center package. I attach the output of the sensors command. -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.5 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.1.0-18-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=it_IT.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=it_IT.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages power-profiles-daemon depends on: ii libc6 2.36-9+deb12u4 ii libglib2.0-0 2.74.6-2 ii libgudev-1.0-0 237-2 ii libpolkit-gobject-1-0 122-3 power-profiles-daemon recommends no packages. power-profiles-daemon suggests no packages. -- no debconf information iwlwifi_1-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1:+33.0°C BAT0-acpi-0 Adapter: ACPI interface in0: 8.53 V coretemp-isa- Adapter: ISA adapter Package id 0: +40.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 0:+40.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 1:+38.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 2:+38.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 3:+38.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) pch_cannonlake-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1:+50.0°C nvme-pci-0200 Adapter: PCI adapter Composite:+20.9°C (low = -273.1°C, high = +80.8°C) (crit = +86.8°C) Sensor 1: +20.9°C (low = -273.1°C, high = +65261.8°C)
