Bug#550939: apt-offline: Package description is not informative
Package: apt-offline Severity: normal The package description is really not informative, and just spells out name of the package in a verbose way. Please describe the use case of such tool and the workflow it supports, otherwise potential users cannot guess if it is the tool the need. Hi Enrico, On Wednesday 14 Oct 2009 16:15:37 Ritesh Raj Sarraf wrote: Can you give some ideas ? I am open to re-phrasing it. How does this look ? apt-offline is an Offline APT Package Manager . apt-offline can fully update and upgrade an APT based distribution without connecting to the network, all of it transparent to apt . apt-offline generates a signature on a machine with no network which contains all download information required for the apt database system and can download that data on another machine connected to the internet (which need not be a Debian box and can even be running windows). The downloaded data will contain all information required for apt on the machine with no network, thus making it not require the network. . apt-offline can also fetch bug reports and can make them available offline Ritesh -- Ritesh Raj Sarraf RESEARCHUT - http://www.researchut.com Necessity is the mother of invention. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
