  Maybe this is an useful datapoint: it used to be the case that
  when triple-clicking a line in a bullet list, all the text would
  be selected but the bullet wouldn't.  Now all the text is
  selected and the bullet, too.

So I can reproduce the problem as well now. It's been reported upstream
already:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/zim/+bug/507372

Can you confirm that it work fine if you desactivate NumLock?

Something must have changed in X/GTK/GDK so that we now get MOD2 modifier
activated as long as NumLock is active. I don't know if this is normal
and the expected behaviour so I'm ccing debia...@lists.debian.org.

Cheers,

I'm away from my sid installation right now, but I think I can provide
some useful information nonetheless...

 activated as long as NumLock is active. I don't know if this is normal

Using xev on *lenny*, if I press a key with numlock *off* I see state
0x00; if I press it with numlock *on* I see state 0x10. The weird
thing is I don't see a matching definition in
/usr/include/X11/keysymdef.h.

Anyways, I don't think this is a change in X.

Thanks for the hint,

Marcelo

 Previous behaviour:

   * Text text text

 Current behaviour:

   * Text text text

 Where  indicates the selection span.

 One further point: typing several lines of text, selecting them,
 pressing * creates a bullet list.  Selecting some of those lines
 and pressing TAB indents the selected lines as it used to do.

 Thanks,

 Marcelo
