I once started to package tigervnc in addition to the vnc4 and tightvnc packages, but I had problems with crashes so I dumped that attempt. But having an active upstream surely help in the maintenance of the package. Packaging of tigervnc with support for both client and server part would be very nice. It would probably solve a few of the current outstanding issues. License problems do not change over night.
