Re: Luks formatted drives for casper-rw

2008-08-20 Thread Andrey Asadchev
Hi.

I did not follow the whole thread through, apologies if I misunderstood.

I sent out a patch to use LUKS drives as persistent storage and I think
it was incorporated

2008-08-19 Thread heiko

hey,

just use unionfs and squashfs combined to set up an persisent readonly device
where you can boot from.
your kernel need to be patched for those filesystems. look at the live-helper.

 no; live-initramfs uses live-rw.

The question is what types of filesystems will live-initramfs accept for
a persistence partition. (or if I'm way off, how do you set up
 persistence)

Is there any way to encrypt the persistence storage?

i have no idea about persistence; marco?

any filesystem present on /proc/partition, or that has an equal-called module
and that is supported by klibc fstype.

(or if I'm way off, how do you set up
  persistence)

sort of documented in live-snapshot manpage.

not yet.

Oh, really sorry about that.

It's seems to be an easy and polite patch too. I do not know if we are in time
too add it for Lenny, maybe Daniel could help there, but could you in case
please rebase it on latest git and maybe provide a test suite or a test hint
too?

first of all, casper in debian is dead and replaced by live-initramfs.
this means, that you should build your images based on lenny, not etch

 anymore.

second, both live-initramfs and casper do not use cryptsetup. this needs
 further integration in the future.

Luks formatted drives for casper-rw

2008-08-15 Thread Jeremy
I was wondering what types of filesystems for casper-rw a live-cd/usb
will recognize? Will it recognize luks formatted partitions?

If so, could someone please give me a short example of how I could set
it up?

Thanks so much for the great debian-live programs!
