Aha. So it's the known regression in the kernel breaking Java. I guessed that
at first,
though you claiming it works without -gtk2 was puzzling me...

Wouldn't have happened on amd64...

What do you mean by these parameters? -f/-ff

I will read the documentation and get an strace. Super thanks for this link.

No, I did not use it. I will make an effort to do so.

That is interesting.

Do you have a strace (note you need to use -f/-ff if you strace lowriter
and/or soffice or somesuch) or a gdb backtrace?

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#GNU.2FLinux

And which desktop/window manager is this? A GTk(2) using one?
After removing -gtk2 do you have -gtk3 installed? Or "pure" LO UI?

That said, works for me.

Even with

rene@frodo:~$ export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN="gtk"
rene@frodo:~$ lowriter

which forces gtk2. "Of course" I am still in my GNOME(3) environment on my
amd64 laptop, but LO definitely picked up gtk2.

Regards,

Rene

P.S.: It's very non-helpful that you didn't use reportbug (did you?) and
included
the infos it added to the report...

Bug#869613: libreoffice write crashes (Debian 9)

2017-07-24 Thread Aaron Valdes
Package: libreoffice-gtk2
Version: 1:5.2.7-1

This is happening on my Dell Latitude D505.

When trying to launch libreoffice, the word processor does not open.
libreoffice crashes

If I remove this package, the word processor opens.

aptitude remove libreoffice-gtk2
