Bug#720426: pu: package openssl/1.0.1e-2

  Hi,

I would like to move some of the changes in openssl 1.0.1e-3 to
stable. The changes between -2 and -3 that I would like to
  move to stable are:

* Add Polish translation (Closes: #658162)
* Add Turkish translation (Closes: #660971)
* Enable assembler for the arm targets, and remove armeb.
Patch by Riku Voipio riku.voi...@iki.fi (Closes: #676533)
* enable ec_nistp_64_gcc_128 on *-amd64 (Closes: #698447)

I'm sorry but I don't think wishlist bug reports qualify for stable
uploads. As usual, we could use more consistency across documentation,
but either devref[1] or p-u[2] pages give an overview of what can be
 considered.

I actually consider the arm assembler and nistp curves to be
important, even if the bugs might only be filed at severity
level wishlist. The nistp curves are even security related
since they are then implemented with constant time removing
a side channel attack.

I prepared an update for openvrml that disable JavaScript support as
the package fails to build with newer versions of libmozjs-dev. As it
might be used to view downloaded files, I think it should not use
libmozjs185-dev which has broken sandboxing (as far as I understand).

Note that this bug (#710616) is not fixed in unstable yet, but
included in the suggested patch for #710082.

I think this means we get to wait until it reaches unstable so that we
get some feedback before considering it for stable? Hoping this is
correct, tagging the bug report accordingly.

Depends on what will happen with iceweasel at the point release. The
package fails to build against the newer version of Mozilla's JavaScript
engine (and thus would no longer be installable if iceweasel gets
accepted for 7.2).

I have no special interest in the package as therefor didn't investigate
the other FTBFS bugs it's currently affected by in unstable.

 Have the

I made it clear that no uploads to -security will come from me. And

Do you have a message ID for me? I'd rather try to see what the problems

Bug#723632: pu: fai/4.0.8 - wheezy point-release update for FAI

2013-09-23 Thread Michael Prokop
* Cyril Brulebois [Mon Sep 23, 2013 at 05:06:10AM +0200]:
 Michael Prokop m...@debian.org (2013-09-18):

as the stable release manager of FAI I'm kindly asking for letting
src:fai 4.0.8 enter the upcoming wheezy point release update.

we could do ftp things to get that version into wheezy, but I'd prefer
if you could prepare a stable update consisting of adding a changelog
entry on top of the current package, using the following version:
 4.0.8~deb7u1, and targetting wheezy.

Sure, no problem

We've FAI 4.0.8 sitting in jessie/unstable since ~2 weeks without
any reported problems. The 4.0.7 version was specially released as
stable update to address #719213, #720307 and update documentation.
Version 4.0.8 just fixes a forgotten cherry-pick from the 4.0.7
upload (so the change was already part of FAI 4.0.6).

The debdiff of FAI 4.0.6 (being part of current wheezy) and
  FAI 4.0.8 is attached.

Besides that, the debdiff doesn't look crazy (even if the doc update
wasn't too nice as far as minimal and important bug fixes are
concerned). Please provide us with an updated debdiff, so that I can
 give you a green light.

New debdiff attached.

Thanks!

I am not in favour of propping up bootchart. It has no proper uploads
since 2009, the maintainer is listed in MIA and this bug compounds the
misery. Popcon has fallen steadily for some time now and it's only in
Wheezy because it migrated automatically when the Squeeze freeze was
lifted. I think we should consider removing it from Wheezy and sid.

Removing it altogether would be fine with me, but I'm not sure how
initscripts will react to this - it will probably fail to upgrade if
/etc/init.d/bootchart from lenny is still there - the bootchart package
must either be upgraded first (with a preinst hack unbreaking the old
script) or purged. And ensuring this clean upgrade path was all I'm
caring about ...

Re: Roll call for porters of architectures in sid and testing (Status update)

2013-09-23 Thread Martin Lucina
Hi,

b...@decadent.org.uk said:
I've also provided a couple of kernel patches in the past. I'm cross
testing with Gentoo to ensure that bugs I report are Debian-specific
  or ia64-generic.

I'll continue testing/software development activity on ia64 for the
Jessie cycle, and more generally, until Debian drops ia64. I'm already
waiting for Wayland on ia64 and other big updates.

So please, keep ia64 in the bandwagon ;-)

But I don't think ia64 is well-supported even in wheezy. The kernel
doesn't boot on some common machines and no-one seems to be able to fix
 it.

I'm the most recent person to report that bug. Unfortunately I run a sole
ia64 box in a production setting and I only have physical access to it
during business hours (and no management card) which makes experimenting
with kernels difficult.

I would be more than happy to sign up as a porter for ia64 however I would
need to obtain more hardware. HP rx1620s can be had on eBay for $100 but
they are located in California and shipping + customs to Slovakia is not
worth it :-/

If someone is willing to donate hardware, or knows of a cheap source of
ia64 hardware in Europe I'm more than happy to host it here, maintain it,
provide access to developers, and time permitting test and and help
diagnose ia64-specific problems with the base system for the lifetime of
the jessie release.

I am also a long-time Debian user (10 years, mostly x86/amd64, alpha in
the past, some arm work and ia64 from the time I've had this hardware). I
am not a DD/DM but have experience as a package maintainer via sponsorship
in the past.

Bug#724329: transition: libfreenect

2013-09-23 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition

The reason:
with 0.2.0 some functions were dropped from public API completely.
See
https://github.com/yarikoptic/libfreenect/commit/de7802a38cbbca9817ddbee0d06658a7a5f5e4ca
for changes in .symbols file

There are only 2 reverse dependencies:

psychtoolbox-3
unstable: 3.0.9+svn2579.dfsg1 -- FTBFS due to gcc 4.8 incompatibilities

 experimental: 3.0.10.20130108.dfsg1-1

And I will upload shortly 3.0.11.20130711.dfsg1-1 to experimental which
 resolved 4.8 incompatibilities

otherwise -- libfreenect should not impact building of this package (tested
locally). But for transition to happen it seems to depend on both gcc
 4.8 transition and glew...

if 4.8 gcc gets into jessie before glew 1.9, ptb-3 would need to be removed
 from jessie anyways.

visp
 binNMU should be sufficient

Please let me know if you see any obstacle here and/or should I go ahead and
upload 0.2.0 package to unstable.

Please go ahead; thanks.

Bug#719520: pu: package coherence/0.6.6.2-6

2013-09-23 Thread Eric Evans

tag 719520 patch
thanks

[ Cyril Brulebois ]
 Eric Evans eev...@debian.org (2013-08-12):
  In python-coherence, coherence.upnp.core.utils.HeaderAwareHTTPClientFactory
  (coherence/upnp/core/utils.py) sub-classes twisted.web.client.HTTPDownloader
(from package python-twisted-web), and in the process (uselessly )overrides
the __init__ method and makes use of a private attribute. As a result, it
broke when that attribute was dropped in a major release of Twisted.

I think this bug is grave. Anything that uses utils.getPage is affected,
which includes the internal control point; The default config and all of
  the examples fail predictably.

It was reported in 664027[1] in March of 2012, but went unfixed and was
released as part of wheezy, (the bug priority was important).

The attached patch came from the corresponding upstream bug report[2], and
has been well tested by myself and others (see replies to [1] and [2]).

I just adopted coherence and have uploaded the fix to unstable, is there any
chance a fix could make its way to stable-proposed-updates as well?

it looks reasonable to me; please post a debdiff with that patch applied
on top of 0.6.6.2-6, versioned as 0.6.6.2-6+deb7u1 (I don't mind updated
Maintainer/Uploaders in the process), targeting 'wheezy' for a last review.

Great; debdiff attached

Thanks!
