Hello, I know that the current state of the spyder stack is quite unstable :((

Can you test this with the version available into unstable 2.3.8. And gives me 
your feedback.

The problem is that spyder > 2.3.5 changed by default the PyQt API#1 -> #2 and 
it broke a bunch of dependencies.
This is why I blocked the upgrade into testing.

- Another problem is that spyder will require ipython >3 which is not available 
in Debian for now.

- another problem is the removal of qtwebkit in the qt4 stack.

This require  a migration to the 3.X series or the switch to PyQt5 of spyder.

I can not garanti when this will be available into Debian testing AND unstable 
for now.

your problems with the software dependencies sounds... quite difficult and
complex. Unfortunately I don't have time to help with debugging/fixing the
spyder package in debian-testing.

I decided to reinstall debian with the "stable" version (aka "jessie"). I
installed spyder and it worked right away! debian-stable has very
recent/up-to-date software packages (compared to centos 6/7) and so I am
happy with debian-stable and the version of
spyder/ipython/matplotlib/numpy/python.

As I said I would only from Git repository - and I should say from a
repository layout that follows the team policy to use tags for new
versions and not a set of branches.
