I could help you get started with Debian packaging if you're interested. Thanks for the offer. I was hoping for something less time consuming :) but I will look into packaging Spyder for Debian if that's what it takes. Spyder is already packaged for Debian FYI. I believe Ghislain Vaillant (copied in) was thinking at some point to work on updating the Spyder package, so I'll wait a few days to give him and Pippa a chance to reply in order to avoid any duplicated effort. The reason of the stalling of the packaging arises from the removal of QtWebkit from Qt4 in Debian. Upstream advised against butchering the packaged version of Spyder 2.x to run without QtWebkit, and instead focus on Spyder 3.x. However, Spyder 3.x introduces quite a lot of new dependencies that needed to be packaged first. And that is Picca, myself, Julien Puydt and others have been doing since. If you want to be helpful, please consider reviewing whether the current state of Debian unstable and check whether it contains all the necessary dependencies for the packaging of Spyder 3.x to happen. Bug#811847: givaro RC bug #811847

Were you planning on uploading them? I ask because givaro is currently scheduled for auto-removal from testing. I'm also interested in givaro as it is a dependency for Macaulay2, which I'm trying to get into Debian. If you'd like, I'd be happy to help. I started a transition for NTL and wanted to get it through before starting a transition for givaro. If I'm the one asking for the transition, I'll first need to re-double-check the deps before RFS-ing to experimental and starting the ball rolling -- and I won't have time before a few days. Ah, makes sense! If you take over, you can do it right away : I'll consider you're helping, not stepping on my toes :-) Sounds good. Upstream actually switched to GitHub a few months ago and released a new version (4.0.1) [1]. I'd also like to backport a recent commit that's necessary for Macaulay2 to build. Bug#831656: Removed package(s) from unstable
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following package(s) have been removed from unstable: python-theano | 0.7-5 | armel, armhf, mips, mips64el, mipsel, powerpc python3-theano | 0.7-5 | armel, armhf, mips, mips64el, mipsel, powerpc --- Reason --- ROM; prevent testing migration -- Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug. The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next dinstall run at the earliest. Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is really needed, please contact them if this should be the case. Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package was superseded by another one. The version of this package that was in Debian prior to this removal can still be found using http://snapshot.debian.org/. Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. hdf-compass_0.6.0-1_amd64.changes is NEW
binary:hdf-compass is NEW. binary:hdf-compass-doc is NEW. binary:python-hdf-compass is NEW. source:hdf-compass is NEW. Your package has been put into the NEW queue, which requires manual action from the ftpteam to process. The upload was otherwise valid (it had a good OpenPGP signature and file hashes are valid), so please be patient. Packages are routinely processed through to the archive, and do feel free to browse the NEW queue[1]. If there is an issue with the upload, you will receive an email from a member of the ftpteam. If you have any questions, you may reply to this email.
