Bug#1017587: ITP: fheroes2 -- free remake of Heroes of Might and Magic II game engine
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Anatoliy Gunya * Package name: fheroes2 Version : 0.9.18 Upstream Author : fheroes2 team * URL : https://github.com/ihhub/fheroes2 * License : GPL 2.0 Programming Lang: C++ Description : free remake of Heroes of Might and Magic II game engine Debian repository has fheroes2-pkg. This package downloads sources from https://sourceforge.net/projects/fheroes2/ and creates a local package. This project is not fully free software because it contains some source files with non-commercial license. Also this project doesn't updated a long time and looks like dead. There is a fork of this project at https://github.com/ihhub/fheroes2. This one is actively developed, has many improvements (for example, it supports campaigns) and bugfixes. Also it doesn't contain non-free sources. These both projects are game engines, original game's assets are needed to play.

It was an attempt to handle packages that can't be reasonably ported to an arch's baseline, and to let them gracefully refuse to install rather than crash at runtime. Alas, it failed. While it works ok for the initial install when using command-line tools, a failed _upgrade_ (ie, when an existing package gains an ISA requirement) leaves the system in a state that's not trivial to recover from by a newbie user or a simplicistic clicky-clicky interface. I assumed that "apt -f install" translates to a similarly simply operation in a GUI, but this doesn't seem to be the case. On the other hand, there's no straightforward alternate solution. Maintainers of packages that depend on isa-support don't seem to be thrilled to migrate away from it, thus I can't remove the package immediately. Bug#1017500: ITP: plotjuggler -- Fast, intuitive and extensible time series visualization tool
Davide Faconti writes: > If you tell me more, maybe I can help to remove these dependencies > (from 3rdparty I guess). Since I am embracing conan for dependencies, > it should not be a big deal. Hi. I think removing dependencies from the repo is a good thing to do, but it would save me only a small bit of time. The biggest effort in packaging is generally dependencies and copyrights. I'm going to need to go through the dependency list, and make sure all the dependencies are in Debian. Anything that's not tiny and not alrady in Debian will need to be packaged. For PlogJuggler I see these unpackaged dependencies: - QCodeEditor - Qt-Advanced-Docking - color_widgets - mcap - sol For the copyrights, I'd need to make sure that everything in the repo has a clear copyright. You don't actually have a statement anywhere. Somewhere (like in the README) you should say "Copyright YEAR PlotJuggler contributors" or something. Then this copyright statement and the LICENSE (that you already have) will apply to everything in your repo, unless there are explicit notes to the contrary. You're also shipping some stuff that clearly doesn't adhere to that copyright statement or to your license: you have a bunch of memes in plotjuggler_app/resources/memes. You have no idea who made these and under what terms. I will strip those out. If you do that before I get to it, I wouldn't need to. I'm not going to get to this for a bit, since all the dependencies need to be taken care of first, but it'd be great if the copyrights were cleared up by the time I get to it. Thanks!

Hi, PlotJuggler author here. If you tell me more, maybe I can help to remove these dependencies (from 3rdparty I guess). Since I am embracing conan for dependencies, it should not be a big deal. Cheers Davide Faconti
