Bug#1041390: RFP: zap -- ZAP is Zigbee Cluster Library configuration tool and generator

2023-07-18 Thread Philippe Coval
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: zap
  Version : v2023.05.04
  Upstream Contact: https://github.com/project-chip/zap/issues/978
* URL : https://github.com/project-chip/zap/
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Javascript
Description : ZAP is Zigbee Cluster Library configuration tool and
generator

ZAP is Zigbee Cluster Library configuration tool and generator.
It allows users to configure their ZCL application using web-like interface and
then generate the required artifacts for this application, based upon the
templates inside a given ZCL SDK.

This project would be a good candidate for debian-iot or js team.

Note according to manifest:

https://github.com/project-chip/zap/blob/master/package.json

There is a dependency on electron, so it may not be trivial to rebuild from
source.

For cooperation feel free to reuse this ticket:

2021-03-03 Thread Philippe Coval
Hi,
Thanks Lukas for your intial 2019 effort,
despite the quality of the packaging no DD uploaded it,
I know this situation don't give up :)

As stated on upstream tracker, I proposed my help on this task:

https://github.com/theupdateframework/tuf/issues/263#issuecomment-780735041

There, I suggested to co-maintain this package in debian-python team,
feel free to request to join like I did yesterday:

https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2021/03/msg5.html

I have rebased your patches on latest release and uploaded to:

https://mentors.debian.net/packages/uploader/r...@users.sf.net/

You can rebuild it using GBP from this branch:

https://github.com/CrossStream/tuf/tree/debian/master

Of course, Your attributions are preserved
but if there is anything to be changed feel free to open tickets there.
Once I am granted to I'll push this current git to salsa.

Bug#975436: O: pinball -- Emilia Pinball Emulator

2020-11-22 Thread Philippe Coval
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the pinball package.

I am involved in this project as upstream contributor.
You can also check my ongoing works today online at
#MiniDebConfOnline or check my updates at:

https://purl.org/rzr/pinball

Also I recently packaged extra tables:

https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/pinball-table-gnu

https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/pinball-table-hurd

I am open to collab maintenance (in debian gaming team).

My plan is to release a new "final" SDL-1 version
before upgrading 3 packages to SDL2.

Stay tunned!

The package description is:
The Emilia Pinball Project is a pinball simulator for Linux and other Unix
systems. There are only two levels to play with, but they are very addictive.
 .
You can play with two types of boards and keep high scores.
 .
Works with OpenGL and needs hardware acceleration. See requeriments

Bug#889824: iotjs debian

2018-02-14 Thread Philippe Coval
Hi,

I just shared a version at:

https://mentors.debian.net/package/iotjs

https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/i/iotjs

Review or sponsorship is welcome,
No lintian warnings reported,
I just need an uploader.

I can also relocate my git to exiting team (JS, IoT, Collab?)

https://github.com/rzr/iotjs/tree/debian

Note that upstream is using gitmodules, so I used:

tag=release_1.0
gbp buildpackage \
--git-upstream-tag=$tag \
--git-ignore-branch \
--git-submodules \
--git-no-pristine-tar \
--git-pristine-tar-commit

It built fine on Ubuntu's PPA supported arch (x86, arm, ppc):

https://launchpad.net/~rzr/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages

Meanwhile feel free to ask hints or if you want binaries
for your favorite configuration,

FYI, I originally started this work on ARMv6 (using raspbian on Pi0)

Keep in touch here or upstream's side:

https://github.com/Samsung/iotjs/issues/1389

Feedback welcome, Thanks

Sure that's a great idea, you can add rzr-guest to the alioth team

Today I am building snapshots versions in ppa, but that's unfit for debian

Let's wait 1.2.0 to be released first

Bug#331072: debian + cinelerra + theora rocks

2009-02-06 Thread Philippe Coval
As usual in Debian a program like Cinelerra-CV without mpeg2, mp3, aac
 or x264 encoding is useless.

Well I managed to make a couple of videos
using theora+vorbis as input and outpout and it works ..

look yourself if it matters :

http://en.theorasea.org/search.php?search=rzr

If the problem remains in fonts licencing , this sounds not like a big issue

Finally thanks to Christian for his work on d-m.org

Thanks

 you mean RFS? :)

yes, but not now : RFP :)

I'll may ITP+RFS it again, once I am over w/ my current ITP like mozilla
flashblock
see : http://qa.debian.org/wnpp.php?login=rzr%40users.sf.net

Fell free to reuse my previous patches, I linked on

please stick with the naming scheme iceweasel-foo for iceweasel addons.
why ? what about iceape or other mozilla browsers ?
mozilla-foo or just foo seems better

thanks anyway

JRTPLIB is an object-oriented library written in C++ that offers support
for the Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) as defined in RFC 3550.

It makes it very easy to send and receive RTP packets,
and the RTCP (RTP Control Protocol) functions
 can be handled entirely internally

Notes:

I worked on this lib years ago and decided to RFP
this library when I was working on jabbin, which uses it
Other projects are using it like gstreamer,

Bug#345547: upstream 0.9.3 and patches needed to compile it

2008-01-02 Thread Philippe Coval
Hi

I have been playing with this modem (bewan usb) during last week on my
family's computer (ubuntu)

As said at :
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unicorn/+bug/945

I built a new package with new upstream 0.9.3 and patches needed to
compile it
under debian unstable or ubuntu gutsy, see :
  http://rzr.online.fr/q/unicorn

If noone want to adopt this package, I can take it until someone else
wants to take care of,
because it's complicated for me to test it since I don't have the
hardware handy...

Anyway I'm looking for some uploader for NMU or a mentee upload ?
contact me and I upload it to : mentors.debian.net

Regards

Bug#360519: RFP: tapioca -- framework for VoIP and Instant Messaging (SIP and google interoperable)

2006-04-02 Thread Philippe COVAL
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: tapioca
  Version : 0.3.0
  Upstream Author : indt ?
* URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/tapioca-voip
* License : LGPL
Description : framework for VoIP and Instant Messaging (SIP and google
interoperable)

Tapioca is a framework for Voice over IP (VoIP) and Instant Messaging (IM). Its
main goal is to provide an easy way for developing and using VoIP and IM
services in any kind of application. It was designed to be cross-platform,
lightweight, thread-safe, having mobile devices and applications in mind.

Tapioca's main goals are:

* Create a solution that integrates all components used by VoIP and IM
applications in a single, reliable and easy to use framework, which is able to
work on different platforms.
* Spare resources, providing central services for multiple applications.
Eg.: The control of all incoming and outgoing SIP requests are managed by the
SIP service, avoiding the creation of one SIP stack and allocation of a network
port for each SIP-based application.
* Reduce the overhead of control layers and library dependencies.

Aditionnal Info :

Main Site provides precompiled debs for debian unstable (apt),
I tested those and it works under gnome, failed on standard xfce (dbus)
I was able to phone to a googletalk client (windows).

If noone work on it I'll see what I can do, ( http://rzr.online.fr/q/dpkg )
since it is a good alternative to closed source skype, ekiga is also a good
option.

Bug#359169: RFP: ttrooper -- Torus Trooper is an abstract shooter

The binary provided in the upstream archive is working,

Bug#335185: upcoming newmat licence is DFGL free to me

2006-03-04 Thread Philippe Coval
Hi, great news for newmat :

- newmat package is ready at mentors.debian.net
- new DFSG version is going to be released if everyone agrea with the
new licence at bottom

Robert Davies wrote:

Someone seemed to think it didn't meet the
Debian guidelines, but I don't see how.

It's clear for me :
###
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=335185;msg=57

I welcome its distribution as part of low cost CD-ROM collections.

Here it seems that permission to distribute is granted, but only as part
of low cost CD-ROM collections.
No permission to distribute via other means seems to be granted.
Non-free.
###

I'll delete the line about CD-ROM distributions, otherwise leave it as
 it is,

Ok then then it will be free : free to get, and distribute

except I have noted who I is.

humm, sorry what do you mean ?

(In the old days, people would submit programs to SIMTEL80 and then
 get upset
when they found their way on to $25 CD-ROMS of software. I wanted to make
it clear this wasn't a problem with newmat. But this is not relevant
 now).

Ok then non restriction on distribution that's free

I'll leave in the comment about commercial use as otherwise I'll get
 emails
about whether commercial use is OK.

ok

The BSD and Thai software (=MIT?) licenses are unsatisfactory as

humm I suppose this text was a sample licence used by Thai Open Source
Software Center,
just replace this by your name

 (1) they allow people to distribute modified versions without saying
 they are modified.

true, unless you add a clause to those licence

 (2) they don't protect me where I am neither the author or copyright
 holder.

are you sure ? It is often mentionned in the first line : Copyright (c)
YEAR, OWNER

 (3) I am unclear what copyright applies to the license itself.

OK I got it, you were confused by the previous sample I gave (ThaiOSSC
vs MIT)
but http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.php is clear (same
for BSD) see (2)

 (4) They are done by lawyers for lawyers, whereas I want something
 that users might read.

Unfortunatly not all users read licence, and you know where there is no
cop there is no law ...
Is a custom licence stronger that a approved licence , when the
licence is actually read ?

If I had to, I'll add that modification notification clause to some
approved licence

As I understand it, my conditions fall into the Debian Guidelines.

Yea the distribution part was blocking , not anymore since the low cost
CD part is removed

If you are happy with my version included below,

I am, I am forwarding to the experts ,
wait a couple of days and check if noone complain at
http://bugs.debian.org/335185

 I'll make a new version of newmat10c

that has these conditions in the html file and in a new file
 copying.txt.

please use AUTHORS and COPYING
they will be triguerred by Scripts (as well as INSTALL README NEWS
ChangeLog )

 There
probably won't be any other changes.

great, let me suggest to add my msvc-6 project files ( newmat.dsw ,
newmat.dsp , example.dsp )
I had to fix some namespace use (see under, my patch) to be supported by
msvc-6 , 7.1 and 8.0

You are welcome to include your make file in the Debian version and
 use a different
 numbering system.

Well I followed recomendations, but I think this is possible to name it
1.10.c would you prefer
(I avoided it because you also use beta name, which can not be sorted
alphabetically)

I'll think about including a version of the make file like yours in
 newmat11.

Please do, my patch is under the same licence as yours :
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/n/newmat/?C=M;O=D
( take latest .diff.gz file : )

The make files I distribute are generated automatically

do you use a custom tool for that ?
cmake can overcome with that nightmare I allready used it

 so I need to see
what changes I need to make to the generate program to get yours and
 to provide the same
facilities to other compilers that I support.

maybe having a empty config.h included in your include.h preserve
compatibility,
(both could be merged in a single usual config.h)

 Conditions of use.

I place no restrictions on the use of newmat except that I take
no liability for any problems that may arise from its use,
distribution or other dealings with it.

ok

You can use it in your commercial projects.

ok

You can make and distribute modified or merged versions.

under different licence ?

 You can
include parts of it in your own software.

should it be mentionned ? should the licence be included also ?

If you distribute modified or merged versions, please make it clear
which parts are mine and which parts are modified.

and what about copied parts ? (previous statement )

For a substantially modified version, simply note that it is, in
part, derived from my software. A comment in the code will be
 sufficient.

sounds good

Bug#353353: RFP: appweb -- very fast, small-footprint, standards based server, dedicated for embedded systems

* License : GPL (or commercial)
Description : standard web server, dedicated for embedded systems

It builds on debian etch, but the install process need to be fixed to use
$DESTDIR

I also suggested a debian package on their forum :
http://www.appwebserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1619highlight=debian#1619

AppWeb is the leading web server technology for embedding in devices and
applications.
It is an open source, feature rich, embedded web server
that has been designed from the ground up with security in mind.
It is integrated directly into embedded systems and applications
for simple and convenient deployment
and with features such as server side Embedded JavaScript and Embedded Server
Pages,
AppWeb is in a league of its own when compared with other embedded web servers.

AppWeb is also highly efficient.
It has a modular architecture that results in a very small memory footprint
and minimal CPU requirements.

Compared to other web servers, AppWeb consumes a fraction of the resources
that other servers require.

It also offers superior security and provides the easiest way to create
dynamic,
web based user and management interfaces.

 These are three possibilities.

 (1) I send you an email saying that distributing modified versions is OK
provided you make it clear which bits are yours and which bits are
 mine. I
also include this in the next version of newmat11.

 (2) I make a new version of newmat10 and include this in the
 documentation
and possibly in a separate license file. I am not very keen on doing this
since I don't want to keep updating newmat10.

 (3) I include one of the open source license agreements, probably the MIT
one, as it seems the shortest one that I have found so far that meets my
requirements. But I still don't understand exactly what the legal
 stuff means.

 Would option (1) be sufficient?

I hope to declare version 11 as being the current version sometime
 soon, but I
have been hoping to do this for ages so I don't really know when it
 will happen.

 Robert

Hi robert,

Thank you for your fast response

let me forward your response to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
( you can use this email for keeping contact w/ the debian pple instead

I Also think your Third option is the best, as suggested at
http://bugs.debian.org/335185 :

Francesco
If the author really meant to make his software Free, it seems that he
wanted a simple permissive non-copyleft license.
I would suggest upstream author to change the license to the Expat
(a.k.a. MIT) license: http://www.jclark.com/xml/copying.txt

BTW, If you are about to repackage newmat-1.10.3 (10c) I can help with

She suggested to rename it ssh-proxy-connect ,
this sounds good to me, if noone is against that name I will repackage it
(check in a few days : http://rzr.online.fr/docs/contribs/debian/?M=A ) .
I am waiting sonia answers to my emails, to merge our work if needed.

I would suggest not using ssh in the package name. The software can be
used for many other things than just providing a clean TCP tunnel for
ssh. In fact it can be used by almost any application which needs a
clean TCP tunnel.

so, let's go for connect-proxy ?
(connect 1st, because it will show up if user search for connect command

Another note: It might be worth mentioning that its HTTP-Proxy tunnel
won't work with content-inspection firewalls which will drop any
connection established by a CONNECT which do not use SSL. Many companies
use such firewalls.

I updated the manpage
A new candidate is online :
